  • At the table waiting was too long

we had the reservation so we were sitted right away. there was no problem but we had to wait almost one hour for the dinner and that is too long of a wait. we got appetizer almost after 45 min after order and the dinner came almost after another hour and at that time we weren't even hungry so if you could minimize this waiting period that would be great. service was excellent.

Some dishes were excellent, some very disappointing. Fish was not fresh, smelled as soon as put on table. Vegetable dish smooshed together and seasoned, no individual vegetables obvious.

As usual food was very good this time. However, their bar list was disappointing. I ordered a bottle of wine from their menu, the waiter brings a higher price bottle and says the other one is not available. My friend orders a drink, he takes the order, returns back in few minutes and says he doesn't have the drink anymore. For Mocktails, all they have is virgin Mojito. I don't think this practice is right. The waiting staff should know what is there and what is not there. On the wine list, especially when you have only two a particular wine type (Pinor Noir) and don't have the lower priced one (mind you that is still expensive), and not having an alternative is not correct. Food as usual, was terrific.

Among Indian buffet in bayarea, sakoon holds the top place for me. Food is always awesome, but service sucks, you need to repeatedly ask for bread, water etc...they are too quick to give your check before even asking if you need anything else.

Service was very slow, we ordered two appetizers, the first one came after 15 mins, the second after 45mins. We had ordered dinner with the second appetizer. That came pretty late too. Out of the 4 things we ordered 2 were good, 2 were pretty bad. Go for ambience, lighting, decor. I have only tried 2 things so cannot say if the rest of it is also going to be similar. But service was really poor.

Potatoes 65 appetizer is great! Ambiance and decor are great. Love it. The kids love the fiber optic light fixtures that change color. Food and service here varies. The first time we went, the food was great (albeit a bit too spicy for kids). Second time here, it took a long time to get our menus and water. Food was just so-so. Conclusion: worth a try. Might be great or might be so-so.

The food was wonderful. We were in the back in a booth so missed the ambiance of the restaurant. Also, there must have been a large party in the back because we heard lots of kids playing loudly and a baby crying throughout most of our meal. This somewhat spoiled our experience. The wait staff was attentive and helpful. I would return but only if I could be certain I wouldn't have all the noise. I like kids and babies.....just didn't enjoy having that disruption for a special occasion meal.

We went to this restaurant on a Tuesday night and it was not that crowded. It still took someone more than 15 minutes just to come and take our order (and that too after asking for it a few times). They also took their own sweet time bringing out the food. Food was quite good but still.. horrible service kills the experience. If a Tuesday evening was this slow.. how can they cater to their guests on a weekend. . I wonder.

We were having small get-together with friends and family. Food was very good, service was very good, except for initial small hitch. The food choices were good, the food decent with very indifferent service. Our waiter was not interested in engaging with us to determine our interests and therefore choices. Forgot a few items and was not apologetic. Overall a mediocre experience. I have dined here in the past with much better service so I hope this is not a trend.

Myself(I'm a veggie)and my friend(he is a non-veg) went for lunch ($16.26 with tax). The starters were good. The main course was Oily. The Bread(Naan) provided was smelling like the one you get from charred food. The Deserts were pathetic, specifically rasagoolas were really hard. We requested for some hot water and it took more than 10 minutes. Also when I requested for details on any specific dishes, the response was not that great. Adding to this, the toilets can be kept much more cleaner.

Four of us went for buffet lunch on A Friday. good thing I had made a reservation! This buffet was the most comprehensive, beautiful one I have ever experienced. So many items I'd never met before. Each item was beautifully presented and the flavors were just right. this place gets very very crowded at lunch on Friday and the lines were sometimes long, and still, the serving was perfectly timed so that you never had to wait for replenishing. It was loud and lively and delicious. I am from chicago and we have many Indian restaurants- I eat Indian whenever I travel and this beats them all!!!!!

We had a great dinner at Sakoon. We were a group of 15 people, all the dishes we ordered (non-veg and veg) were very good. They seem to be short of waiters for a busy Friday evening. Once we could place our order, we were served quite quickly.

Our dinner was full of spices, textures and great tastes. The service was very attentive and the avocado/potato appetizer we had was very unique. The contrasts of textures was excellent. We liked the fact that the dishes were slightly different from traditional Indian food but carried all of the traditional spices and chutneys. We will definitely go back and look forward to trying new things.

Other reviews criticized the service but we found it to bepretty good (although we did say that we had theater tickets), The tomato carrot soup and mesclun salad were VERY good. The fried shrimp appetizer was slightly overcooked and the coating was bland, however, the spicy mango sauce added a needed kick. The lamb curry sauce was on the spicy side (I requested extra heat), the way I like it but the lamb chunks were dry and a bit chewy. The basamati rice was EXCELLENT, perfectly cooked and fluffy. The wines by the glass were, in my opinion, a bit overpriced as was the overall experience; $90+ including tax and tip with only 1 entree and no dessert.

We began wtih Sakoon Special Samosa and Potato "65". Both were fabulous! The Potato "65" had a bit of a bit, but it was superb. The Somosa's were on the smaller side, but that's fine. They were very crispy, which I enjoyed. The bread to filling ratio was a bit low, but that's they still tasted good. We had Chef's Special Channa Pindi and Dal Sakoonwala as our main entrees. They were both incredible! For dessert, we had to try the Strawberry Brulee! Even though I was full, that was the best brulee I've ever had.Next time (and there will be a next time), I will probably forgo the Samosas and try the Gobi "65". I couldn't have asked for a more attentive waiter. The decor and ambiance were fabulous. I will be visiting again.

It was reasonable indian food served in eclectic manner- so that was good. The ambiance however was just so so. We got seated next to a big party that was way too noisy - and when a person from that party would get up - his chair would hit my elbow! Hmm...the space issue was just something I could not overlook.

Quite a decent place for lunch. Quality of food and service is very good, definitely good for foodies. good varieties of options available for buffet on both ends (Vegge's & Non-Veg). Most definitely not a romantic place to visit as noise level due people flow is quite high during lunch hours. I guess if you need a quite place you might get it if we mentioned it during the request to make reservations. but i dont know. next time i make my reservations will definitely put forth this as my request. for now i definitely recommend SAKOON as a must visit for food fanatics. Four us us went there for lunch on a very busy Saturday 7 had the buffet.Unfortunately we had to wait a long time to order drinks, had to find a waiter to order naan & most of the food on the buffet was not very hot though the chef who was making the custom noodles did a fabulous job of cooking up noodle dishes & it was served right out of the pan so it was hot. The waiters were all very nice & helpful when we found them to ask for things but not proactive in coming to the tables. There were 4 desserts & they were all really good & at the right temperature. All the food was actually quite good - if they could do some employee training on waiting tables & keep the food warm on the buffet this would be a great place for an Indian buffet!

This was the second time I went back for buffet lunch with a friend. The Nan and the Tandoori chicken were very good. Variety of food served was very satisfactory. For me the service was not satisfactory because I felt a little pushed for paying and making room for new guest. My companion also felt the same way. Ambiance was acceptable, so also the noise level for a typical young IT crowd. Mango Lassi was good but not included in the buffet price.
