Diner Reviews
  • "My wife and I have been regular diners at Saint Jacques since we moved here nine years ago. We always reserve a quiet table in the corner to celebrate our Wedding Anniversaries. This year we celebrated our 51st. We can't decide which is better, the food or the service as they are both beyond expectations. Our server Chris even split the French Onion soup order for us and was ever attentive to our needs. This night we enjoyed the Rack of Lamb and the Scallops. Our dessert is always decorated with Happy Anniversary written in French chocolate. The owner's wife Lori came by our table to ensure everything was to our liking and invited us to their next Wine Dinner in August."

  • "My wife and I went to Saint-Jacques to celebrate our anniversary. The food was amazing, the service was perfect, we didn't try any wine but their wine list was impressive. However, we were surprised and a little disappointed when we arrived and discovered that the number one restaurant in Raleigh according to Trip Adviser is in a strip mall. I had come prepared to tip a valet. We felt a little awkward and overdressed walking through the parking lot to the restaurant. However, once we got inside Saint-Jacques lived up to Trip Adviser's claim. Saint-Jacques's deserves a better location. I would have gladly paid more money to have the same dinning experience at the same restaurant, but in a better location."

  • "Had a lovely dinner with amazing food, wine and service. If you find yourself you're not fond of French food, you'll find Saint Jacques a delightful surprise. Food is fresh and tasty and the presentation is beautiful. You will not be disappointed."

  • "The atmosphere and the cuisine are authentically French. The wait staff were very knowledgeable and professional. The food came with the attention to the taste - especially the sauces which were perfectly flavored and matched to the main component - fish, chicken, lamb, etc. One thing that was very important was that it was possible to sit and talk to each other in a regular voice without having to shout over the noise or music."

  • "There aren't enough words to describe what a diamond this place is. Everything - the food, the staff, the atmosphere - is top notch. Probably one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. Worth every penny and we can't wait to go back!"

  • "The staff works as a team and is very attentive. No detail is too small , including matching napkin linens to your color pants/dress to ensure lint won't show. The entrees will not disappoint and all were very well presented. Don't let the strip mall location fool you, we will definitely come back. In fact, the owner Lori called me after the restaurant had closed for the evening and indicated she noticed we put a substantial tip on top of the 20% gratuity already added to the bill ( this was a mistake) and was checking to see if we did this intentionally or we wanted it removed. It was mistake, and she took care of it. I wonder how many other restaurants would have brought this to a diners attention."

  • "Allowing for the exigencies of menu variations which are found at better dining venues (and Saint Jacques is one of these), I was surprised to learn upon returning home from lunch with a friend and consulting the on-line menu, that my vegetarian entree of Lemon Pesto Risotto was not served with the "sweet potato frites and basil oil," as the menu stated. While dining I did think that the presentation looked incomplete, but it did not occur to me what the problem was until after I had left the restaurant. But for this surprising error, the meal, including dessert, was enjoyed by both my dining companion and me. It is not my style to inform the establishment of this mistake, and it will not prevent me from dining there again."

  • "Three stars for the outside of the establishment , since there was some constrcution going on in the strip mall. Location aside , the food was simply amazing. Service was fantastic and the owner was extremely personable"

  • "My family and I enjoyed a wonderful experience on Sat. night (June 14, 2014) at Saint Jacques. Part of our group had been there before , so they had warned the rest of us that it was in a strip mall and completely unobtrusive. Once inside the delicious smells hit us and we were warmly welcomed. The staff was fantastic..accommodating and VERY knowledgeable. The menu had a great variety and the food was wonderful. Passing up bread is a mistake there as it's all made in house. I couldn't recommend one thing over another on the menu as everything I tried was really tasty, but the mussels might have been the biggest hit for the group. The desserts we picked to share along with the lattes were the perfect ending.. we'd highly recommend !"

  • "Almost a real French restaurant. Clearly the best in the Raleigh area."

  • "This is a really special experience. You feel completely welcomed in a personal way. The service is outstanding, the wine selection the same and the appetizers and entrees are varied, interesting and cooked to perfection. Don't miss the deserts. This was our first experience there but will be back."

  • "My sister and I took my father to Saint Jacques for a Father's Day dinner. The restaurant is in a strip mall and doesn't look like anything special--until you get inside. It's elegantly decorated and the staff is very friendly and attentive. I told my waitress I'm lactose intolerant and she took excellent care of me the whole time, working with the chef to make a dairy-free variation of my meal. He even made me a tomato puree to go with the bread since I couldn't eat the goat cheese and balsamic vinegar drizzle my Dad and sister got. The dessert list is sinful, and though there was only one option for me (the lactose thing) that option was delicious. I highly recommend checking out Saint Jacques."

  • "Our first time at this restaurant. We chose to celebrate our anniversary based on many other very positive reviews. We were not disappointed. Our meals and overall experience were fabulous. The fresh ingredient creatively combined and carefully prepared were evident in each plate and resulted in a very enjoyable meal. Service was great as well. "

  • "The food and service are the best they could be. Attentive service, yet they leave you alone and do not interrupt your conversation. Everything eaten was absolutely fantastic. "

  • "This was by far the best time I've ever had at a restaurant. I really could not believe how good the service was. During the first 15 min or so I was almost feeling disappointed because I knew the food couldn't possibly be as good as the amazing hospitality and waiting staff who really remember everything you say and use so much consideration to make you have a nice night. Then the food came...the two appetizers were unrealistically good; I thought I struck gold and just happened to order their two best dishes. Then the entrees came...it was actually unreal no words can explain it just amazing food the best experience I could imagine in a restaurant setting. "

  • "My husband, son, daughter-in-law and I ate at Saint Jacques on Friday night. Our son and his wife travel extensively- and expensively. They were impressed- as we knew they would be. It was a great night. It was fun seeing a couple women dressed for an evening out - in the best sense. We look forward to visiting Burke Manor Inn- I already know what a few of our Christmas gifts to our children will be. "

  • "Took wife there on the day of our 50th anniversary and she couldn't have been more pleased with my choice. Since the restaurant is in the middle of a strip mall, she didn't know where we were going until we walked in the door. Once you walk in (as others have said before) you are in a small piece of France. The maitre d' and several of the wait staff and the chef are all from various parts of France and all offer excellent and friendly service. Wife and I both had the lamb chops (2) that we love and they were spectacularly and cooked to order. The escargot 3 ways was also excellent as was the onion soup that I had. The chocolate "bomb" was great but huge, after our other choices and had happy anniversary on the plate written in French."

  • "This is the spot my wife and I consistently choose for major celebrations in life. This week, at our anniversary celebration we asked why we always wind up here. The answer came immediately to us: when something is this perfect why go anywhere else!"

  • "Our family has been enjoying French food at this North Raleigh location since it was known as Jean Claude's. The food and service have always been outstanding but rather than resting on their laurels, proprietors Lil and Lori Lacassagne just keep scaling new heights of culinary perfection. Their current menu is a tour de force of the seasonal and haute cuisine. Not the fussy, foamy type (which has driven us away from old favorites like Second Empire and Fearrington), but classic dishes presented with a twist. Star appetizers include pan-seared foie gras on an apple-sweet potato biscuit and a beet napoleon layered with lemon herb goat cheese cream. From fish to filet, every entrée shines. Mousse au chocolate and Burgundy - mais oui!"

  • "St. Jacques is quaint, quiet, welcoming, wonderful for a special occasion, and oh so dependable. Celebrated our daughter's 35th birthday and could not have been more pleased! Will definitely return."

  • "Good French food and service however for the price the ownership should seek a new venue... the shopping center somehow doesn't add to the pricey experience! "

  • "Our family has enjoyed this restaurant over the years since 2005. But what makes the restaurant is the host and owner Lil. So if you go on a night he is not there is it just not the same experience. Lil has opened a new B&B with restaurant near Greensboro and is busy there on Thurs-Sat nights so be advised."

  • "We visited Saint Jacques for an anniversary dinner and were more than pleased with the dinner and the service. An absolutely wonderful mean and impecable service. The finishing touch was writing Happy Anniversary in French on my wife's dessert plate. We will definitely be back."

  • "We both ordered different seafood entrees, one light and one heavy. Sommelier suggested a big bold white wine, which went perfectly with our dishes. The servers did a wonderful job, being very attentive, but not obtrusive. We dined for about 2 hours. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable evening."

  • "Lovely place! As soon as you walk in, you feel like you are in another world (forget about the strip mall where you parked ;)) Service is fantastic & friendly. Food is absolutely fabulous. Owner LiL, is adorable & makes you feel at home. Raleigh peeps, give this place a try, it's worth it! Great for a date, a family or a girls night. "

  • "Saint Jacques is the best dining experience in the Triangle; romantic atmosphere, unobtrusive service, delicious food. Lil, the owner, helped us select the wine which was an ideal complement to our meal. We had a perfect evening. Thank you."

  • "Don't let the shopping center facade fool you. This is a seriously good French restaurant. We've tried some others in the area but they don't measure up to St. Jacques. The daily crepe special in particular was expertly prepared with just the right amount of delicious ingredients inside and the best reduction on top. The servers were very gracious as well."

  • "The service here was exceptional! The food was to die for! I highly recommend eating here at least once. I would make reservations because it is a rather small establishment, which is what makes it so quaint. All I can say is this is a must! "
