Courteous, top notch! Down to earth and elegant while the food
Was out of this world! We were very happy with our entire dining experience!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful eveningDining at Saint Jacques is an experience that should not be missed. The food is wonderful, and the service is equally just as good. Perfect for a special occasion... You'll feel like your on a mini vacation in France.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectBest French restaurant I have found outside of France.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticVery special, intimate, French restaurant with perfectly prepared French food. We're always trying new restaurants in the triangle and I'm not sure how we've missed this one. It's one of my top 5 favorites in Raleigh (the others being, in no particular order, The Tavern, Glenwood Grill, Gravy and Pei Wei (hey, even a foodie has to have a pedestrian favorite)). The service was spot on and unobtrusive, the owner was super friendly and the food was delicious. A fantastic experience (liked it much better than local favorite An).6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMPalm Beachers wowed by St JacquesWe just found this restaurant by surfing the net while we were visiting in the Raleigh Durham area for a few days. We were celebrating our 43 wedding anniversary with friends. Turned out this was a fabulous choice. The food was truly delicious in a delightful French style. Real baguettes would have been nice, as would have some nice goose pate with the traditional rabbit, thin asparagus, and truffles, with maybe a few gherkins and berry preserves on the side. Maybe next time. Superb service and although the ambience was a bit subdued, we would definitely return. Excellent dining! Go there!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden GemCuisine was absolutely amazing~ Did not go in expecting a 7 course meal and was pleasantly surprised. The wait staff was very attentive and catered to our press for time to make the symphony. We will never rush through a meal here again, absolutely exquisite!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Food!We had already had raving recommendations from friends and colleagues for this restaurant, so our expectations were set pretty high. Saint Jacques did not disappoint! The food was great. The mussels and the lamb I had were some of the best I have had, anywhere. The artisan breads and homemade ice cream for dessert augmented our appetizers and entrees nicely. My wife and I will be back!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA Special PlaceWe visited Saint Jacques for the first time to celebrate a birthday and bring back memories of a recent trip to Provence. We were not disappointed. It's cozy atmosphere reminded us of the small cafe's we frequented in Paris, The wine and food was excellent. The service staff, knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. We enjoyed our conversation with the owner and will definitely be returning.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWOW - an oasis in the middle of NCIncredible! Food was extremely authentic French. When I closed my eyes I could have sworn I was in Paris! Wine list is excellent and fairly priced. I do not travel to Raleigh very often, but when I do this one is on my list!!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways ExcallentWe have been dining at Saint Jacques on a regular basis for 7-8 years. The food is consistently excellent, always fresh and the highest quality. The service is impeccable. Lil, Lori, and the staff welcome each guest as if they were family. Saint Jacques is by far the best dining and the only true French restaurant in The Triangle.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMA Taste of FranceIf one is looking for a special place, a romantic dining escape or French flavour experience- beinvenue au St. Jacques! From the warmth of the host and staff to the rich, full taste of the French cuisine, the guest is invited into a truly French experience of dining as family and intimate.
Saint Jacques is the finest restaurant in Raleigh. It is a perfect sample of French cuisine and French hospitality.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAn Excellent Adventure!Saint Jacques is the best restaurant I have experienced. First, the food was artistic, delightful and plentiful. Second, the wine steward was awesome; not only did we find the perfect bottle of wine to compliment our meal, I also found a perfect dessert beverage. Bread and dessert were just as fantastic as the appetizers and entrees. My children, 10 and 7, loved the food and ambience as well; however, they are precocious eaters and ordered from the regular menu. You will need a sitter if you have picky little eaters:) They also have a full vegetarian menu, and multiple seafood options. Our waitress was on top of anything special we might need to make our dining experience perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb in every aspect fromSuperb in every aspect from start to finish! We and our friends enoyed a lovely evening at Saint Jacques.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Food and ServiceWhat a wonderful place. All hostsService was great. All hosts were very kind and cared about their guests in every detail. Dinner was simply excellent.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBon Appetit! We celebrated Mother's Day on Saturday evening because we wanted the full menu and were very pleased. My mom (who is 86) was raised in France and had fun interacting with the sommelier who spoke perfect French. She mistakenly order her Filet Mignon medium rare and when she sent it back for medium the server brought her a salad so we would not feel awkward eating without her. Our food and service were impeccable. I am looking forward to returning.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistent excellenceSaint Jacques continues to be our favorite restaurant in Raleigh - marked by excellence across the board.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat wine matching with foodGreat wine matching with food which was excellently prepared and presented.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently excellentAlways a lovely meal with very warm and welcoming hosts. We are already looking forward to returning to enjoy more items from the Spring Menu :)5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSure to Please...This was our second visit to Saint Jacques. The first time was a few years ago for our Anniversary. This time on Sat., May 4, 2013 was for our 13 year old son Tristan to experience an upscale/fine dining restaurant. Same as before, and why we selected Saint Jacques instead of some of the many other fine dining restaurant we have been to, is for the excellent service, amazingly delicious food, wonderful presentation and the intimate ambience. I highly recommend this restaurant for the reasons listed and more. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! : )5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe loved the ambiance, theWe loved the ambiance, the service and the food. I got the mussels as an appetizer and it was the best I've ever had. My wife had the escargot and the seafood crepe and loved them both. she said they were excellent. It was my wife's birthday and they brought her a lovely dessert to celebrate. A very nice touch. We will definitely return.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother Excellent experienceWe would eat here once a week or more if we lived closer. We come here as often as we can and most especially, for our anniversary and birthdays. We have been coming here off and on for over eight years and have always had an oustanding experience. This of course, is due to Lil's vigilance and never ending attention to detail. The staff are friendly and attentive with just the right level of service without being obtrusive. The food is excellent. It is comforting, not pretentous and consistently good.
Be sure to get Lil to help you pick out the right wine for your meal. You wont be disappointed. Looking forward to our next visit already.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe and our guests (who wereWe and our guests (who were first-time visitors) thoroughly enjoyed the evening at Saint Jacques from start to finish. The food, wine, and service were superb in every respect!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMA GemMy wife and I were visiting our daughter at Duke and we were looking for a special restaurant for dinner. Based upon Open Table comments and a few "blogs" we decided to try Saint Jacques. Upon finding the restaurant in a shopping mall, we were apprehensive. We couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. The meal was exceptional as was the genuine caring attitude of the owner. Foie gras is no longer sold in California (our home) and we had to order it. It was perfect! As were the mussels and the flounder.
We made our reservation for a Friday evening with only a few hours notice. I can assure you, in our home town of San Francisco, this restaurant would be sold out on a Friday night weeks in advance.
Saint Jacques is a "gem".4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent as it is always!!Excellent food, superb service, and attention to detail made a special occasion even more memorable!!! Special thanks to Lil & Lori and the Saint Jacques staff. You are all very special people!!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExpensive--$$$$. Small accommadatioExpensive--$$$$. Small accommadations. Service good. The food is great and the owner does a terrific job greeting guests and suggesting wines to pair with the meal. They create an atmosphere where you want take your time and just enjoy the evening. My wife is almost finished with her culinary school degree so finding restaurants that meet her expectations has gotten more difficult. Saint Jacques never disappoints.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the top five mealsOne of the top five meals of my life outside of my mom's kitchen, and maybe even including it! My wife had been given a gift card, so we took ourselves and her parents out to lunch for our first wedding anniversary. The food is technically-perfect French cuisine, which is something to be treasured. We each ordered a different app, entree, and dessert, so as to try as much of the menu as possible. The best of each were my wife's Moules Marinières, my braised beef short rib crepe (special), and my Pineapple Rum Baba. Everything was top notch, though.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated our anniversary. We celebrated our anniversary. The dinner was fantastic.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMTHE BEST EAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI!SANT JACQUES HAS NEVER DISAPPOINTED US. THE BEST RESTAURANT ON THE EAST COAST!
Food and service is always the best! (Yes, I said always, which we rarely say)!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMCould not be faultedThe food, wine and service were fantanstic and could not be faulted. They had done what they could with the ambiance but there is only so much frenchification that can be done to an american strip shopping center.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary DinnerWe had a very fine anniversary dinner at St. Jacques. The service was outstanding and the food was excellent too. We had three different wines, one with our appetizer and two with our entrees after speaking with the wine steward and they were all good matches to the food. The bread choices were delicious and the mussels appetizer was cooked to perfection. I had the scallops with pomegranate foam over creamed spinach which was exceptional. For dessert I had the pear clafouti with ice cream and my husband had the homemade ice cream. The homemade ice cream was to die for. My husband also had expresso which he thought was very good. The only quibble for me was I had to have them replace my cup of decaffinated coffee because it was cold.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFinding a restuarant of thisFinding a restuarant of this quality in s strip mall is like finding a diamond in a coal mine.Inspired menu, Excellent food, great presentation, nice wine list. Almost like being back in Paris at a good Bistro. Would love to see them in a different Venue..........North Hills? Outside seating? We will be back!!!!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent restaurantOur group of three shared appetizers, ordered different entrees, and shared desserts. Everything was outstanding. The waiters and waitresses were very knowledgeable about the food and wines and could give useful advice.
The restaurant is small and very nicely furnished. It was quiet, but it also was not full even though it was a Friday. My guess is that it would not be noisy even if full.
There is no dress code, but many guests wore "business casual" clothes. The atmosphere was definitely a bit formal.
My only complaint, which is minor, is that the wine list is restricted to French wines. Even the French should come around and admit that much less expensive wines from many other places in the world are as good or better than French4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Scallops EverAs always, St. Jacques did not disappoint. The signature scallops were among the best ever tasted! I think they beat their own record for delicious. Can't wait till we can go again!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb food and service.Superb food and service. Very friendly and personable; fine dining without the stuffiness you often find in a fine dining restaurant.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAt first we were a littleAt first we were a little put off by the strip mall location, but the cloth tablecloths and lace curtains helped the ambiance.
The service was first rate and the food good. In all we had a good experience and felt we had made a good choice of restaurant to celebrate our 15th anniversary.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellant Food, one of theExcellant Food, one of the best place to dine in Raleigh.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is our favorite restaurant. This is our favorite restaurant. The food was phenomenal, the service top-notch, and the wine list extensive. The owner was always present. He greeted us after we were seated, suggested wines, checked with us during our meal, and thanked us for our patronage once we prepared to leave; he was a delight to speak with.
The only thing missing was a full-service bar.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWithout a doubt, the veryWithout a doubt, the very best French Restaurant in the Raleigh area. Husband love the steak as always.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI wish I had my wife with me night.I loved this restaurant. I can't remember what I ordered. However, it was a seafood dish of broiled scallops and shrimp over cus cus, all covered with mild tomato-based sauce. DELICIOUS! The staff was very attentive. When I arrived, my table was set just for me seeing that was dining alone. I noticed that there where only 13 tables in the entire restaurant. Very romantic.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
