A word from Sage Room - Harvey's Lake Tahoe
The Sage Room at Harvey's has been a Tahoe landmark since opening in 1947. An elegant Western-themed steak house, The Sage Room is popular with locals and guests alike.

The Sage Room’s décor includes original Native American lamps that were gifted to Harvey's from the Washoe Tribe, the original bar, and hand-hewn beams that were part of the original log cabin that housed Harvey's in 1944.

The Sage Room features unique appetizers and salads prepared table side, along with Black Angus steaks, poultry, veal, lamb, Beef Wellington and seafood. Dessert specialties include Bananas Foster and Cherries Jubilee, both prepared table side.

My wife's dinner was WAY over cooked and the potatoes were burnt and her veggies were not cooked. in fact it was bad enough for the waiter to give us a credit for her dinner, I loved the atmosphere and would try it again, but be careful to order not to cooked."

  • "Everything about this restaurant is quality dining. The waiters are attentive, friendly and engaging but respect your time whether in a hurry or taking your time. The food here is always consistent. The ribeye is extremely flavorful. The filet is wonderfully tender and great quality. We always enjoy the lobster bisque with perfect consistency, nice amount of lobster and perfect heat! The table made ceasar salad is also very good. Although we didn't indulge in dessert, we watched many being made tableside and everyone looked like they enjoyed it. A great place to go for a special occasion or if you win a little big it's a great way to treat yourself."

  • "The staff at the Sage Room was very friendly and professional and attentive Our water glasses were never empty and our food was brought out on time. I had the Beef Wellington and it was super tender and tasty. My wife had the Filet Mignon and was cooked to perfection! The seating was comfortable, the lighting was perfect and the noise level was not an issue. All around this was a great dining experience and we look forward to out next visit!"

  • "Ah, the Sage Room. Been going to this venerable restaurant for years and it delivers old style with a western ambiance. Not inexpensive, but worth it for a treat. Food has always been very good and service nearly so too. Last week, we had a burly waiter who was rather fast, if not impatient. Had the small prime rib and the wife had the veal scallopini, both done perfectly. Wine list was good. Just had a single glass of BV Rutherford. Watched a lone guy nearby down a whole bottle for his meal and the waiter prepare Bananas Foster tableside. Hostess was super nice."

  • "The food was excellent, except for the caesar salad that our waiter Bill thought he could do in his sleep!! I've had far better tasting caesar's that have been done in front of us. The Beef Wellington was fantastic!! The only complaint I had was about our waiter who came across as highly professional, but didn't have the personality to make us feel comfortable or talk to us at leisure. Unlike the table in front of us who must have been a high roller because all of the staff were falling over themselves to accommodate their every need. We felt like an afterthought compared to that!! The only person who had any personality was the hostess when you walked in and another lady who had short blonde hair and served us our food."

  • "This restaurant is a special occasion type of steak house. The food was EXCELLENT. Wife order a filet with lobster tail and the filet was SO tender flavorful, same with the lobster tail. I had my usual steak house entrée which is a medium rare prime rib, very good indeed. If you are staying in the hotel you can bill it to your room which I did because we were running late for the comedy show."

  • "The Sage Room is the type of "old school" restaurant that serves the classics exceptionally well. The place is not cheap, but is worth the price for an occasional special night out (movies in the hotel room for the kids to keep occupied while the parents sneak away!). Beef Wellington is typically perfectly done, with the only critique being the mashed potatoes--hope you love nutmeg. French onion soup a "can't miss" item as well. Phenomenal wait staff."

  • "We've eaten at the Sage Room numerous times over the years and appreciate the excellent food and great ambience just off the casino floor at Harvey's We didn't completely understand that NYE dinner would be a prix fixe menu with limited options. As such, there was a bit of a banquet food feel to it all, particularly with the mundane dessert. However, the shrimp/king crab appetizer and the French onion soup were terrific. The lobster tail accompanying my wife's filet mignon was perfectly cooked---not so much the steak which was dry and flavorless. We should have chosen to go there new year's night and enjoyed the complete menu."

  • "Sage is a great respite from the busy gaming tables. The atmosphere was receptive, and the wait staff was friendly and helpful. Since we are older (in our sixties) it is difficult to eat full plate meals. The server was very helpful in selecting "split meals", so that we were able to enjoy a satisfying meal without feeling "stuffed" because of the over abundance of food. The beef and lamb were excellent. Although we should have dressed more formally (Sage's warrants it) we were well received in our jeans and sweatshirts... after all, we are Southern Californians on a winter vacation. SNext time we are up in Tahoe again, we'll be sure to visit again."
