A word from Sage Room - Harvey's Lake Tahoe
The Sage Room at Harvey's has been a Tahoe landmark since opening in 1947. An elegant Western-themed steak house, The Sage Room is popular with locals and guests alike.

The Sage Room’s décor includes original Native American lamps that were gifted to Harvey's from the Washoe Tribe, the original bar, and hand-hewn beams that were part of the original log cabin that housed Harvey's in 1944.

The Sage Room features unique appetizers and salads prepared table side, along with Black Angus steaks, poultry, veal, lamb, Beef Wellington and seafood. Dessert specialties include Bananas Foster and Cherries Jubilee, both prepared table side.

Good thing they were there to make up for his deficiency. The food quality was fantastic and the people who seated us were very very friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant to all."

  • "We went here for my sister's 60th birthday because our dad took us here every summer when we were kids. We were not disappointed in our trip down memory lane. Back in the day, a huge platter of king crab legs arrived at our table gratis. We saw a crab cocktail on the menu, so we all ordered that appetizer. We were shocked when two huge crab legs per person arrived with cocktail sauce for dipping. We didn't think that crab like that existed any more. We went on to the almond crusted halibut which was moist and flavorful. We would have liked to have tried the desserts, but no room left. Yes, it is expensive and the decor could use some updating, but it was perfect for our retro weekend."

  • "The place is a great steakhouse restaurant with fantastic service and food. Our waiter, Cy, was informative and efficient and spent time with us with a no rush attitude. Bread and SOFT butter were delicious. The food preparation at the table (Caesar salad, spinach salad) was beyond entertaining and so fresh. Steaks and seafood were cooked as ordered with big portions. The dessert menu is to die for. The berries jubilee with homemade ice cream and berries and cream were exemplary. The bar makes very good custom martinis as well."

  • "We booked well in advance for a special dinner for my husband's birthday. The Sage Room is one of his favorite places to dine. You really can get full, as I did, on a couple-three "starters" and not rely on an entrée. We started with Escargot--great--and followed up with Lobster Bisque, which we truly consider one of their signature dishes. Well, I was done, as we shared 1/2 bottle of LaCrema Pinot Noir, but sine hubby ordered their rib eye steak with all the fixins, I chose another starter--small plate of shrimp scampi, which were outstanding, perhaps best I have had (and we eat out a lot!). Hubby unable to finish his 16 oz. steak, a boneless cut, but enjoyed it anyway. Asked about a smaller cut, but waiter simply suggested we split it. "

  • "This was my 4th wonderful experience of eating the world's best Chateaubriand with incredible table-side service. The escargot was divine as was the Wilted Spinach Salad. The salad was prepared table-side and is a pleasure to watch. The waiters and their assistants offered superb attention and service. No detail was overlooked. My friend was celebrating her birthday and a wonderful (and surprise!) dessert was presented to her. One of the highlights of visiting Lake Tahoe is my much-anticipated dinner in the Sage Room! I can't imagine going to South Shore without such a dining experience! Dining at its best!"

  • "I regret making this reservation for our date night, only because I really didn't look at the prices, which are just crazy expensive. But if you can get over the price point, the experience was really nice and the food was delicious. I am glad that I had the experience, but I wouldn't go back again due to the price. Two people ordered 2 beginning salads, 1 shared meal, 1 glass of wine, 1 beer & 1 coffee = $150!!!"

  • "My food was pretty good, but I've had better. My girlfriend loved hers though. It was really expensive, which we planned, but $9 for some sautéed mushrooms? That's a bit much. Their website says $30 avg per person, but it's more like $75. And that's without wine and dessert (with appetizer). The waiter was fairly nice, but once he realized they wouldn't be making much money off us (by their standards), he pretty much stopped showing up to our table. The hostess sat us next to a group of people who were really loud, so that killed the night. It was also pretty loud in there. Pretty disappointed in terms of ambiance. 90-95% for food. 40% for service. "

  • "I'm an extremely picky and a hard to please person when it comes to dining out because most of the time the foods I enjoy eating are usually only served at a fine dining restaurant however they lack the flavor, seasoning and spices I would prefer. Sage Steakhouse had a wide variety of items on their menu and the descriptions were precise! Most restaurants have a savory sounding menu however the meal tastes nothing as described. Sage is absolutely me and my husbands new favorite place to dine and well worth the two hour drive!"

  • "Everything about this restaurant is quality dining. The waiters are attentive, friendly and engaging but respect your time whether in a hurry or taking your time. The food here is always consistent. The ribeye is extremely flavorful. The filet is wonderfully tender and great quality. We always enjoy the lobster bisque with perfect consistency, nice amount of lobster and perfect heat! The table made ceasar salad is also very good. Although we didn't indulge in dessert, we watched many being made tableside and everyone looked like they enjoyed it. A great place to go for a special occasion or if you win a little big it's a great way to treat yourself."

My wife's dinner was WAY over cooked and the potatoes were burnt and her veggies were not cooked. in fact it was bad enough for the waiter to give us a credit for her dinner, I loved the atmosphere and would try it again, but be careful to order not to cooked."
