Diner Reviews
  • "Well cooked food, mostly fish but a steak tossed in to satisfy the carnivores, and very pleasant service in an informal but pleasant surrounding. Everyone there looks happy, the sign of a restaurant where they feed you and treat you well."

  • "we left the restaurant without eating there because the waitstaff was unaccommodating. It was an empty lunchtime and television screens were blasting! When we asked to find a quiet spot they basically said there wasn't one without any attempt to accommodate or any apology. I won't return."

  • "We made reservations for eleven for my sister's bachelorette party. The restaurant was lovely, the food delicious, and the service solid. We would definitely come back!"

  • "Really liked this restaurant. Service was outstanding, the people here are very nice. We even saw that they were providing some food for the homeless which was really nice to see. Both food and drinks were terrific. Tried the Oysters Rockefeller, Lobster Roll and Lobster Pot Pie. I plan to come back and try the Lobster Mac and Cheese. Decor was really cute too, felt like we were away on vacation somewhere and not in NYC. Will definitely plan to come back here."

  • "We were hard put to find a place convenient to the Metropolitan Room on West 22nd Street, where we were going at 9:30PM. A simple Google search found Sagaponack and its mostly stellar reviews. We loved this place: the lobster pot pie was huge and tasty, and the seafood pasta (Americana sauce) was fresh and al dente, with huge amouts of shrimp, mussels and squid. The friends with me from southern England were quite impressed: the younger of the two (a 28 year old) thought it was the best meal he's ever had in a restaurant! "

  • "A handsome venue, excellent food and perfectly attentive service."

  • "A friend recommended this restaurant. Everything was terrific. The mussels in green curry and coconut sauce with pesto fries - OMG! I picked up the tin bowl and drank some of the liquid - I'm not embarrassed. And the short ribs!! One minor disappointment - the whipped topping on the key lime tart overpowered the key lime. We can overlook this because we really don't need desert. I've been telling everyone about this place."

  • "My husband and I found this restaurant on Open Table. It was a wonderful find! Our food was delicious, the service was outstanding, and the upstairs dining room was quiet and quaint. We will be back!"

  • "Interesting selection of lunch salads and sandwiches (we didn't try any of the mains). Light, airy atmosphere. A distinct step up in ambiance (and quality and value) for a working business lunch from the chain outlets in Flatiron and fills a niche between those and the pricier restaurants in the district. "

  • "The food was delicious and there is a wide array to choose from on the menu but I think the vibe in there was what I liked the most. Quiet, chic, and simple. I loved it for lunch! "

  • "Randomly found this place after trying to find a spot over at Eataly on a Saturday evening at 8:30pm. Absolutely was pleasantly surprised and loved the food and ambiance of this place. Makes you feel like you are out on Long Island or the beach somewhere! "

  • "Reasonable prices and good food. I had the fish tacos, others had salads, good value for the money."

  • "Love the atmosphere. Food was really good excpet one meal was wasy to spicy. The manager did the right thing and deducted it from the bill. It was very loud due to a large group of LOUD women. Service was extrememly slow."

  • "Pleasant surroundings. Good seafood. Pleasant staff. "

  • "This was an excellent choice for lunch on our final day in NYC. We both had lobster rolls which did not disappoint. Served with good pesto fries and a small salad. Took us all the way home to Birmingham. Pricing in line with NYC lunches. I would recommend this restaurant."

  • "What a great find! This restaurant makes you feel like you are in the Hamptons! Love the ambiance, the food, and the service!!! Great goat cheese salad with grilled chicken, and- the cobb salad was amazing as well!!!! Definitely will be going back!"

  • "Went for Sunday brunch. Food was v. good, and the staff was friendly and very attentive. There were a few large groups, which added to the noise level, but not annoying. I would go back, and maybe with my own big group!"

  • "I had lunch with a business colleague at Sagaponack Bar and Grill 4/11/14. Second time I'd been there. Layout is odd - several tables are under the loft dining area behind a staircase. Somehow more quirky and intimate than off-putting. Spicy crab salad is very good as are the lobster roll and crab roll … though even the generous amounts of crustacean seem slightly overmatched by super-sized hotdog buns. Service was very attentive without being pushy. Both waitress and bartender turned up often to make sure we were happy. Overall pleasant experience."

  • "Good choices on the menu for Brunch. The place is comfortable and the noise level is moderate so you can have a conversation. They have a prix fix dinner menu that looks great, can't wait to go back."

  • "Sagaponack is consistent. The food is always good, priced fairly and the service is good. The waitstaff, bartenders and host are very nice and appreciative of our business. Will be back."

  • "Delicious food and a nice quiet window seat! I will return!"

  • "Was attracted to the restaurant through the "Solar Vortex" promotion. The $29 prix fixe menu was nice, but we ended up ordering off the regular menu. The restaurant was just what we needed to feel a change of season: atmosphere and drink specials were summery and beachy. Food was delivered in a timely manner and was delish. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert, but the options were plentiful."

  • "this was a great little spot for a brunch. we enjoyed mimosas and bellinis and wonderful food. the lobster omelet was a big portion and delicious. the eggs benedict was also a great selection. we enjoyed the nautical atmosphere/decor. the restaurant was busy but never loud. we had very good service. all in all a very nice brunch on a sunday afternoon. we will definitely return when in new york again."

  • "Sagaponack B&G is simply decorated, spacious and attractive. Prices are reasonable. On my recent visit, on a cold Monday night, the place was essentially empty. Service was amiable. The menu is pleasing, the food was quite good, and fresh. The restaurant provides good value. I have been there when it was crowded; the food was just as good; the noise level was higher."

  • "4 of us were welcomed & shown to our table. All employees were friendly & helpful. Food was delicious. Will be back."

  • "I was very satisfied with their lunch menu. I'd go back again!"

  • "Crab cakes had good taste, but were cold/lukewarm, so obviously just reheated, and not long enough. Calamari were cooked in oil that was too hot, but had great light batter. Good fish dish. My bad, we went on a Monday evening and no one was there. But for that reason alone, there was time to heat up the crab cake. As many good restaurants as there are in this neighborhood, I didn't find this visit to make this a compelling place to go."

  • "We were 10 for Sunday brunch. The Bloody Marys were delicious, the menu was extensive enough to offer choices acceptable to everyone, the presentation was lovely, the food was excellent, and the service impeccable. I would highly recommend Sagaponack!"

  • "Whether it is the Cod, Filet or various other entrees, you can expect that all are fresh, with minimal seasonings and "sauces" (amen), and elegantly served. The appetizers are equally appealing: crab salad, calamari, and a chopped Caesar were all good. The bar is well-stocked, with several craft beers on tap. Wine list is short, but appealing. Desserts are A+. Ask to sit upstairs for a more private dining experience."

  • "This was our first (and likely last) visit to the restaurant. Everything seemed to be a bit off this day. We were seated approx 20min after our resv, meanwhile restaurant was not full (1:30pm timeframe). Waiter was very disengaged with all tables around us (some were frustrated with slow delivery of check, others said he never came back once order was taken, etc). Food was average. The waffles arrived plain ... no butter, no syrup. When we subsequently asked for both items, waiter appeared put out. Waffles were also so cold that butter did not melt. Decor was nice, but that's about the only positive from our visit."

  • "Great for groups and interesting decor but slow service and non-descript food. It was ok - good for groups"

  • "Very good food. Prices were reasonable. Quiet. Fairly empty for what should have been a busy Friday night."

  • "Had a great first experience about a month ago, but the test is #2...which was even better. The chef at this "little secret" of a restaurant borders on magical. Lobster bisque was again spectacular and full of prime lobster parts; bass in potato crust a stellar repeat. New this time time a tuna-mango timbale appetizer, which was absolutely fabulous. Price points also excellent, by which I mean reasonable and, for the food quality, a bargain. Another plus is that the busy bar is just far enough away from dining area so you can hear each other. Service was excellent too."

  • "First, I love the name. It reminds me of the beautiful Sagoponack--at least most of it is if you can disregard Hedge Fund row. A friend, who had walked by and wanted to try it recommended it. I nad a lobster roll with mesclun. It was reasonably priced at $18 and delicious. It was on a great roll and had big chunks of lobster. For $18 on the East End, you can get all kinds of lobster rolls from generous ones to skinny. The decaf was good too, which is not always the case. It was reasonable, quiet, and a great place. I will go back."

  • "We were pleasantly surprised by this gem tucked away on 22nd in the Flatiron district. The steak in my steak and eggs was perfectly cooked and a great cut. Her grits were just as she wanted. Will do again."

  • "Cold outside but beach Hampton look inside was welcome. Apps and entrees very good. If u order the special scallop app, be sure to think about not ordering a salad as there was plenty of 'salad' with the scallops. Decent beer selection. Steak ordered well done but came rare. Sent nback to be cooked further."

  • "Had walked by often, but finally "had to have fish." Wow! The preparation was everything wife and I had hoped from. Sea bass and cod for mains were prepared with obvious love and reverence for the ingredients. Perfectly spiced (simple/pure) and perfectly moist. And the lobster bisque was absolutely superb. For super cold nights, ask to sit upstairs where there is less draft from the door. And one more thing. Prices are very, very good, especially for the high quality. Imagine a $7 glass of really good wine in NYC. We so appreciated not being gouged. Can't wait to go back."
