  • "We hadn't been to Sagano prior to this visit so I was super glad that there were reviews on OpenTable. Comments from reviewers made me feel confident that bringing my family to this place would be a good experience. Food was prepared quite well on the hibachi and as with hibachi style cooking, the chef was quite entertaining. A few of us commented that the food was better seasoned here than at one of the large competitors. My group ordered a variety of grilled choices and everyone commented that they were yummie. The restaurant offered a Birthday package which was an $8 adder and included singing with drums and a decent sized ice cream type dessert as well as a photo of the person who was having the Birthday. Fun was had by all!"

  • "Fun for young adults, but a lot of food served prior to the main course. Beef was tough! Would not recommend to seniors, especially those with a lighter appetite. Pricey"

  • "We had a party of 15 that included children and an infant, the staff was extremely accommodating! Our chef and waitress were very prompt at meeting our needs and keeping everyone entertained. Super friendly, good food and our celebration of my dad's 80th birthday was a success! Highly recommend for groups, not the quietest place but it was perfect for us since we didn't need to keep hushing the kids. "

  • "We came to celebrate an early Mother's Day celebration for me. I was told to pick a place. My daughter had been to the Flint location for sushi and had discussed trying it sometime. She knew there was a Brighton location but we did not know about the Clarkston location until I went online. We live in Rose Township, Holly mailing, and decided your location would be closer. We enjoyed the experience, and liked the food and the entertainment performed by the chefs/cooks. My only objection is that the seating is just too tight, you need to take out at least two chairs in order for this to feel more like a fine dining experience. It definitely takes away from the ambience and experience. "

  • "I am a big eater and I actually took food home. Food was good, not spectacular, but what can you expect from a plce like this. Service was very very good. Price was right, a little noisy, but, that is what the restaurant is about. I booked through open table. Called them to verify my reservation, when I got there, no reservation? The sat us anyway quickly so that was not much of an issue, and it was Mothers Day."

  • "We have ate her several times. Most recently, for my son's 18th birthday. Each time the food has been excellent, the chef friendly & entertaining & we have always been able to take a portion home for lunch the following day. I would highly recommend this restaurant for lunch, dinner or any special occasion!!"

  • "I took my daughter, her husband and their 2 kids (3 yrs and 1 yr old) for my daughter's birthday! The little ones were very entertained by the fire, cutting food, cooking and tossing chicken into people's mouths!! Service was very good and we didn't feel uncomfortable bringing the little ones at all. There were other tables with little ones and even when they got a little cranky (including our 1 yr old) the noise level was perfect so as not to be annoying to the other tables, and the entertaining cook kept them enthralled. Would recommend Sagano to my friends and already have!"

  • "The cook was great and the servers were helpful. The overall experience with the food was not impressive. The soup was not cooked thoroughly (mushrooms were raw). And it was not as flavorful as comparable resturants. Just wasn't impressed."

  • "The food was great, the service was great! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends. Go at lunch though if possible. Filet & Shrimp $16.99 at lunch, $31.99 at dinner."

  • "I was excited to try the new Clarkston Sagano but our dining experience was disappointing. We had a party of five, reservations through Open Table for 7 PM and asked for first available seating on arrival. There was one server for a section with at least 15 tables of two to five people. He was running as fast as he could but our food came out one dish at a time and, by the time I was served, everyone else had finished their meals. Hope they iron out their service soon."

  • "Love the new location of Saganos in Clarkston! The pros...we were able to make a reservation, we were seated immediately, and we had the best chef ever! Our visit was super entertaining! The chef went ALL the way across the room while other tables got involved, cheering on, as my son caught a piece of chicken in his mouth! We all had a really fun experience! The cons (according to our 5 kids) were that the soup was luke-warm, and the salad dressing tasted "different" (I found no difference in the salad). And (according to me) despite being brand new and having some beautiful stonework inside, the white walls and bright lighting made the restaurant feel sterile and more "diner-like". I prefer the cozy, bar-like feel of the Flint location."
