Simply amazing! The food is full of flavor and only enhanced by the staff and ambiance of this downtown gem. Regardless of the occasion, Saffron impresses! With influences from the Mediterranean and the Middle East this is a true find for those who like uniqueness in everything on the menu. Enjoyued our visit very much. the wait staff was very knowledgable and friendly. Service was excellent and not rushed at all. the food was very good with a great mix of spices and flavors that one does not usualy find on menues around the area. The fried mussels were very unique and excellent. The Scallops were done very well. Next time i want to try the Lamb Sholder with lamb bacon. This looks intriquing.

  • The night started out a little
    OpenTable Diner Since 2009
    Dined on 4/19/2008
The night started out a little disappointing. My husband wanted his favorite drink, a saffire martini, and the bartender informed us that they had just run out of bombay saffire, which should not happen at a restaurant like this. I feel we had very poor service. I had to frequently ask for refils on water and our drinks from the bar took a very long time. All the food was good except the recommended appetizers. The beef kubbeh was extremely dry and the the fried mussel appetizer did not have many mussels at all and looked/tasted like a stack of showstring onion rings. Also, the $15 parking was a drawback. Because of these reasons I feel this dinner was not worth the price and I may not return.

We went with our dinner club (7 people), hesitant at first since we had not heard much about the restaurant but ended up being pleasantly surprised, would definately go back. Each person picked a different entree and we ordered several mezze plates and small plates so we feel like we had a sampling of the entire menu. Everything tasty some more memorable than others. There aren't many restaurants in the Twin Cities where the food is this good and this beautiful. We had a wonderful meal, and our host and server were very attentive. This restaurant is not for the picky eater or the person who just wants a burger. Some of the food is very adventurous, but it is all delicious. Truly a rare and exciting find in Minneapolis. We will be back soon.

Fantastic! One of the beauties of Saffron is the friendly people; our service was prompt, thoughtful and attentive. Also of note, going in a group of four proved to be perfect as it allowed us to try a wide range of items and splitting the bill 4 ways was very manageable. The menu reminded me a bit of Solera where you can order multiple tapas and sample a wide variety. However, a party of 2 can also have just as much fun as long as you’re willing to be a bit adventurous and try new dishes (which to me is one of the joys of dining out). Overall, it was a very fun place to go – our food and the entire experience was one I would recommend to you!

We had an outstanding evening at Saffron and an absolutely delicious meal. Our server was great and very well informed. Since it was an anniversary, we were surprised with two glasses of sparkling wine from one of the owners - very nice touch. The special cocktails were unique and very good. The space is well designed and very comfortable. Overall, our experience at Saffron could not have been better!

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007

The food was fantastic but we unfortunately had a very bad customer service experience. The Happy Hour bar menu featured several appetizers that were not on the menu. We had made reservations for a group of 5 (hence we did not want to eat dinner at the bar) but we really wanted to try the french fries on the bar menu. I told the waiter we didn't mind paying the non-HH price. The waiter went to check with the owner, who refused to let us order the french fries though we were sitting at a table right next to the bar! Ridiculous! Had we not been with a group of 5 people, that answer would have resulted in my getting up and leaving right then and there. As it was, we all thought it was ludicrous but brushed it off and had a fantastic meal.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008

We enjoyed everything we ate, particularly the various mezze. Husband loved the kubbeh. Had the Parisian gnocchi at my main course. It was delicious but very rich. Would have liked this in a half portion, maybe even as a mezze. The restaurant needs a sign by the door at the back of the restaurant directing people to the front door. We were distracted several times by people climbing the steps and trying to open the door behind our table. Feedback for Open Table: with every reservation we've made with this service, we'be been sat at the farthest table in the back of the restaurant, rather than in the main area of the restaurant. Sometimes this works to our advantage, sometimes we feel relegated to the 2nd class area.

First time there and we will go back. Limited menu, but we found things we liked. Would have liked to have seen specials though for future visits due to the limited dinner choices. Parking can be an issue. They wanted 20 bucks to park in the lot due to an event. I had to find street parking. That is a deterrent.

We have been to Saffron about 10 times. We love the food! We have always felt very taken care of, only disappointment is they are always out of the Bloody Mary mix, and we rather enjoy their version of this drink. We will continue to recommend this gem to our friends and coworkers. We look forward to returning soon! Our waitress was fine, we have just had amazing service from previous waitpeople and she was just average in comparison. Though it did not subtract from our wonderful evening!
