A word from Saddle Peak Lodge
Saddle Peak Lodge, where rustic ambiance meets a sophisticated palate.

The former hunting lodge maintains a warm and rustic décor, featuring two fireplaces, outdoor dining, and views from the second- and third-floor rooms.

Chef Christopher Kufek prepares contemporary American comfort food with an emphasis on hearty wild game, fish, & seasonal ingredients, and welcomes you to try the 7 course Chef's Tasting menu, with optional hand-selected wine pairings.

To complement the food, the wine list includes American boutique wines difficult to find on many other lists. Our bartenders prepare classic and old-fashioned cocktails as well as modern versions of the classics. We invite you to come to our wine and scotch dinners and beer luncheons, which have received rave reviews.

Whether you are a meat eater, fish lover, beer drinker, wine aficionado or a Scotch enthusiast, Saddle Peak Lodge is just minutes away, but a world apart.

  • "We've been coming to Saddle Peak for over 20 years. The last time we came the food was just OK, after all these years a little disappointing. As for this visit, everything was superb. I had the combo with venison, buffalo and elk. Michelin level preparation, presentation and service. We had a wonderful, cozy, intimate corner table upstairs. The bread pudding for desert was to die for. Saddle Peak remains unique in its rustic hunting lodge ambiance, unique menu, wonderful cozy bar by the fireplace and a killer wine list to boot."

  • "After some time of absence because of not really satisfying experience we tried Saddle Peak again to take a fried there, as we like the ambiance of the restaurant. It was worth it. The food was outstanding in taste and presentation, the wine was good, the service efficient. The only thing was the lady bartender, where we ordered Kir Royale and she served it with raspberry rather than Cassis. It's OK for summer as it is a little lighter, but she should have told us that she had no Creme de Cassis which I really prefer for its distinctive taste."

  • "This is a great restaurant, albeit a little pricey, but worth the investment. I always take out of town guests to SaddlePeak and they give it rave reviews as well. The service is impeccable! I have never had a bad meal there and they go out of their way to take care of you. A great find! Took three people who had never been there before and they raved about it - took pictures of their food, posted to their FB pages, raved about the atmosphere and the service. I highly recommend it!!"

  • "We dine at Saddle Peak several times a year for special occasions and it's always a wonderful experience. They have great food and traditional, classic top of the line service. It's not just a great meal ,but an experience worth repeating."

  • "Best Game plate I have had there yet. They had Elk, Venison and Braised Buffalo short Rib. They have no problem substituting it necessary or putting sauce on the side."

  • "This place has seen better days. The ambiance was dated, the food was in edible (my lamb was so tough that I couldn't cut through it with a steak knife) and all of the food was doused in salt. Coupled with slow service (our dinner took 3 hours from start to finish ) and high prices, I'll never go back again. It's too bad- this used to be a solid choice a few years ago."

  • "We went for a Fathers Day dinner. We had a 6pm reservation for a table outside on the patio. Firstly, the patio is lovely--quiet, surrounded by trees, water feature by our table, fairy lights in the foliage. Secondly, our waiter was knowledgeable and patient as we engaged him in discussions of wines of the world. Thirdly, the food was delicious. We had the elk, the skirt steak and the lamb rack. Our favorite of the three was the steak. We ended the meal with a special Fathers Day dessert complete with Happy Fathers Day spelled out in chocolate on the plate. We all agreed that this was, indeed, a special evening. Nice ambiance, excellent food, and good service."

  • "I have been going there for special occasions (a bit over my normal budget), but the food is delicious, perfectly crafted, pairing foods one normally may not do. It's food artistry and an avalanche of subtle flavors with impeccable service."

  • "There is nothing like this restaurant in So Cal. It looks like a n old hunting lodge. Like stepping back in time. However, the food is up to date with wild game dishes. If you do not like that, you can also get the yummy regular fare. If you would like to try something different, this is the place. All the food is delicious."

  • "This is the spot to try unique foods. I had the elk and my wife had the trio of elk, venison and quail. All were outstanding. The elk is the house special and I highly recommend. I really like the fact that they have 1/2 bottles of wine as that is typically enough for a dinner for 2. We started with the pear, blue cheese, apple and watercress salad and finished with the huckleberry bread pudding and pear beignets. Service was impeccable and the atmosphere, with the big game animals on the wall is always unique and fascinating. We go for special occasions and have never been disappointed."

  • "Hunting lodge chic with a short but well curated menu that is best suited to carnivores. The tasty game sampler consisted of elk, venison and buffalo. Who knew buffalo short ribs could be so tender. The Niman Ranch pork chop was juicy and flavorful and its generous portion provided lunch the next day. The starters were the right size and delicious, an endive salad with roasted apples, blue cheese, candied pecans with vinaigrette for my husband and seared scallops with grapefruit and papaya salsa for me. We were too stuffed to even look at the dessert menu. The service efficient without being intrusive. A great special occasion destination!"

  • "Loving Game and especially Venison, I've been dying to take my Philadelphian sister to Saddle Peak Lodge for years. Determined to get there on her recent visit, we booked for a Sat nite. SOOOOO Glad I did!!! we had an amazing evening! Well traveled, she and her husband felt it was one of the top meals of their lives. What a beautiful evening, absolutely delicious and the ambience is divine (don't take a vegan, they will not appreciate the heads on the walls!). Every room is full of it's own charm and warmth and the patio is to die for! The Venison, Elk, Sea Bass were perfection! Our waiter and staff were delightful and recommendations were spot on! Great praise for a perfectly lovely evening shared with my family! We will return!"

  • "A special place with great atmosphere, the smoked salmon (smoked in-house) was the best I have ever tasted. The trio of game sausages are delicious and we always order them to share at our table. The staff are friendly and attentive. We have visited this restaurant on many occasions and always take our out-of-town visitors there, it's a unique venue with a wonderful history."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary here. We've been here a handful of times, and it is always a special treat, a quiet retreat from the city. The service was impeccable - attentive but not intrusive, knowledgeable and helpful. The only disappointment was the wild pheasant. It was dry and lacking flavor. The star of the show is the elk, as to be expected. Succulent, tender and brimming with sweetness from the cherries. Go with that and you can't go wrong."

  • "This is a very interesting place up in the Santa Monica Mountains ... and the food is even quite good. The drive is lovely on a day when you have the time. I had a wonderful dinner with friends and I could even hear what they were saying. It was my friends birthday, and it seemed to be EVERYBODY else's birthday too. They even serve a complimentary celebration treat to the birthday person. However, there wasn't much on the menu for anyone avoiding wheat, and the salad I ordered is not one I would order again. And remember NOT to take your vegan friends here as the heads of all the dead animals on the wall will freak them out and the food is mostly meat. "

  • "The food and ambience were exquisite, unfortunately not 3 tables away, a very obnoxious group was very loud and having a negative conversation that was difficult to tune out. Our Host was excellent. food was exquisite. The group should have been put in another part of the restaurant, or outside. It completely destroyed the ambience of the otherwise perfect venue. I won't be returning."

  • "Saddle Peak Lodge is noted locally for its wild game. I ordered the Seared Venison Carpaccio appetizer and Wild Game Trio entrée. Both were incredibly succulent and not a hint of gaminess. Saddle Peak Lodge is a treasure for the Calabasas and the greater Los Angeles communities"

  • "The location is out of the way and perfect for a beautiful drive before arriving for one of the most service oriented, warm and welcoming romantic dinners that I've ever experienced. Thank You, to all of the staff for the welcome and courteous service. And the food was outstanding! Very impressive! You all made an already beautiful evening with my lady, an evening that will never be surpassed. I can't give a higher recommendation for the Saddle Peak Lodge. P.S. The desert menu will ruin any efforts you had put into your weekly regiment for fitness. lol (but worth the loss) "

  • "Even though many other places in the greater L.A. area offer game meat now, this old place is still a pleasant change of pace from heading to downtown or the Westside. It certainly has a different vibe, both inside the restaurant and the drive to it. I don't go often, but I go every now and then and it hasn't let me down yet. This visit was only disappointing in that our reservation was too late to get the chef's tasting menu. It would be a good idea if they specified on OpenTable that you seating must be prior to X Time in order to have the tasting menu. I understand with pacing that they do need a certain amount of time, but we tend to eat on the later side and we might have made a different choice had we had the info."

  • "My wife and I have enjoyed Saddle Peak for years now. Current Executive Chef Chris Kufek has captured and retained our interest with his excellent seasonal recipes using local produce. The Wagyu steak was one of the best steaks I have ever had. It seems that while we have a few old favorites there is always something new and delicious to try. We like to bring guests to Saddle Peak and enjoy their always positive reaction. "

  • "This is a wonderful restaurant with a great ambiance, fantastic food, and a very nice wait staff. I came here for our company's Christmas dinner and I just brought my wife for her birthday. It is a very special, very romantic, and enjoyable dinner. My wife was thrilled. The restaurant is the best I have ever experienced in terms of customer attentiveness. They remind you about your upcoming reservation and when I mentioned it was my wife's birthday they prepared a special dessert just for her!"

  • "A friend and I went to Saddle Peak Lodge for Easter Brunch. Since I had been there a few years ago and it was very good, I was looking forward to good food and good service. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. The Easter brunch consisted of a choice of three items, from which my friend and I chose prime rib. The prime rib did not even resemble prime rib. It was a thick, round piece of overcooked meat. It neither looked nor tasted like prime beef. The brunch was $55 per person. A cup of tea was an additional $7. I have had much better meals at Black Angus for $22. I will not be back to Saddle Peak Lodge. I noticed many empty tables and was surprised that it wasn't more crowded; however, after the meal I realized why. "

  • "I first ate at this restaurant 10 years ago for my husband's 30th birthday. Everything was fabulous then. Food: spectacular. Wines: divine. Ambiance: Great. Since then, we've come for special occasions - mostly wedding anniversaries for dinner -- always getting a Multi-course meal. Last two times for brunch, Father's Day 2012 and Easter 2014 weren't exactly the best. Firstly, same exact menu choices. I got prime rib on Easter thinking of their specialty in game & meats and it was pretty average. Served with average spinach, asparagus & mashed potatoes. Ahi salad - average. Chocolate pot de creme was delicious - wished it was bigger. Service was very slow. Ruby Sparkler was the best thing there... Reminiscent of the "spark" they once had..."
