We went there to celebrate a 50th birthday. Saddle Peak Lodge more than met my expectations for great service, delicious food and an atmosphere conducive to conversing with dinner companions. We sat in the main dining room which though a large room still felt cozy. Our server was friendly and personable and his service was impeccable. The Saddle Peak Trio was wonderful with the elk being the favorite. The rack of lamb was perfectly cooked. Would love to come back for brunch.

Im not sure how i feel about this restaurant. The waiting staff was great. Although host service wasn't up to par with how expensive this place is. This area has bad reception for phones. The decoration is supposed to be cabin/hunting feel i suppose, with trophy antler animal heads all over the place which i did not like at all....kind of turns your appetite off. overpriced salty food.

Had discovered Saddle Peak Lodge on the internet and put it on our places to eat list and then it was recommended by a relative. It was a spectacular evening. My wife and I ordered the chef's tasting menu and we were very happy we did. The food was outstanding, the service was outstanding, the restaurant is PERFECT for a romantic evening. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I go out to eat a lot and generally there are good and bad things about each place I go. But Saddle Peak is the whole package. The customer service is excellent. The food is magnificent. Chef Chris has a gift of putting things together that you would not think would be good but it turns out wonderful. The atmosphere was relaxed. They were not trying to rush us out for the next patrons. The location and décor was rustic and elegant at the same time. THe prices were high don't get me wrong but for an experience like they provide it is worth it. Definitely a must!!

The food was great as always, but what happened to the service? Are you understaffed? I can get better service at a McDonnals. I have never had this happen before, there is usually a server around but this was different. We were seated 10 minuets before he came to take our drink order and bring bread, whenever something arrived at the table, they asked who ordered this? It was like being in a beer bar. No class. It was very hard to get someone's attention to get something, bread, a new drink, desert, they were not paying attention. The house specialty is elk, at 50$ a plate we expect a little more attention.

Had dinner on Thursday. I had left a message on the restaurant voice mail and got no response. The food was very good. The place is beautiful and the setting is gorgeous. I was disappointed with the service. We did the tasting menu with the wine parings, $350 for 2, and we're extremely disappointed in the timing of the service. Our first couple of courses took what felt like hours to arrive and then the last couple were brought so quickly one after the other, I'm sure because the staff wanted to get us out of there to go home, that we couldn't enjoy what we're very good plates and wine parings. The place was not that busy and there seemed to be plenty of staff. While I would consider going back, it won't be any time soon.

I've eaten here a number of times over the past 20 years. Ambiance, quality of the food and the service have always been outstanding. Cost is the only thing that keeps me from eating here more frequently. Don't get me wrong, price is not out of line with what they provide, just a bit much for more than an occasional meal.

We keep returning to Saddle Peak because every meal is such a pleasure. Recently Executive Chef Chris Kufek has made some changes to the menu, adding a few new dishes and varying the preparations on some others. There are several perennial favorites that have been kept as is with the feeling if it ain't broke don't fix it. Overall an excellent menu with something sure to please everyone in your party. One of the new additions is a flat iron steak. I'm one of those who enjoys the lesser cuts (flat iron and hanger steak) and am glad to see this now included on the menu. The preparation is superb, done precisely as you order it, a delicious brown sauce and served with spinach and the most velvet smooth mashed potatoes imaginable.

A truly special evening at the lodge for us - the Chef's Tasting Menu was exceptional. Servers are polished, attentive without being intrusive. Plan for 3 hours to truly enjoy the tasting menu. The courses are small, and perfectly sized for an amazing 7 course meal. We like the second floor dining room because t is intimate, or a table at the side of the fireplace in the main dining room. Wine list is available on website, or bring your own for a nominal corkage fee. Sunday Brunch here is easy, outdoor dining available. The Lodge is unique, a true escape from hustle and bustle Los Angeles.

Took the wife for date-night. We started with a couple of drinks and starters on the patio. There was live-music at a pleasant level. We moved into the main dining room for dinner. We decided on the 7-course meal, priced at $105.00 per person. The wait staff was very attentive, but not intrusive. There were a couple of courses that could have come out a little faster, but we weren't in a hurry. Overall, the food was delicious, but the portions were quite small. If we hadn't started the meal with some appetizers, we would have left a little hungry. The meal would have been better priced at $80-85 per person. Out the door we dropped about $335.00. It was a perfectly lovely couple of hours, but a little pricey. We will be back.

My boyfriend picked this restaurant for his birthday. Although it's a neat looking place and service was excellent, you got very little food for this overpriced place. Food was good but not enough or worth the price. If you are looking for the odd pieces of meat like Elk then you may like it. I prefer Mastros for sizable quality meat and overall meal.

Overall we had a good experience but there was some problems with what anyone would consider slow service. Orders were delayed, drinks were slow and it took 2 hours at least to get out food. There was a large wedding party going on and I don't think that management &/or chefs planned to accommodate both that party and our 4 person table hence the fundamental delays. When we visit a high end establishment such as this lovely place it seems they could have prepared better. Basically if you can't give everyone a great experience then please do not try to squeeze in extra diners

If you have about $100 per head (plus wine) to spend on a fine meal in rustically charming surroundings (think 100-year-old gentrified log cabin style), it is difficult to surpass Saddle Peak Lodge. Virtually every dish I've eaten at Saddle Peak Lodge ranges between very good and superb in terms of food quality. Also, the service is uniformly very good. While they occasionally get a little casual about honoring their seating commitments -- when a large party or event comes along, they'll sometimes renege on seating promises previously made to other customers -- they generally offer compensation which has always seemed fair and reasonable to this diner. I highly recommend this restaurant for an outstanding experience.

From the friendly valet to hostess, to the bar staff, waitress and the bus man, it was a wonderful evening. All went out of their way to be helpful and accommedation. We had steak, sea bass and rack of lamb. All were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The eggplant with the lamb melted in my mouth. We were celebrating a birthday. From the cards, the staff picked up on the BG's name. As dessert, they brought homemade vanilla ice cream on a plate decorated with chocolate inscribed with her name. The Trio of Sorbets (homemade with peaches) was served on a 3 in. wedge of ice. The banana beignets were served with a salted carmel sauce. All were excellent. It was a wonderful evening which we will do again--well worth the long trip!

You can't beat the cozy lodge charm, beautiful garden patio, and service of the Lodge. I never thought the food could fail, but at my 6th brunch at this neighborhood gem, the food disappointed for the first time. The menu has not changed in over 2 years and the waiters still refer to "today's special" of the same three selection of trio sausages: pheasant, boar, duck. It ought to consider introducing true specials that change throughout the seasons. Still, somehow the dishes aren't as clean as previously served. The once great breakfast pizza with a perfectly egg timed baked into the crust was, instead, presented with a sad alternative of a fried egg that sat on top of the crust - a rather lame shortcut. Food quality doesn't meet its prime.

Took my girlfriend to the Saddlepeak lodge for our anniversary. My girlfriend is a big time foodie, and she loved it. She had the big game trio and particularly enjoyed the Elk, and The Biegnets for dessert. My flatiron steak was also very tender and tasty. In addition, the Saddlepeak Lodge has a very good wine list and choice of burbons as well. There is no mistaking that the Saddlepeak lodge is fairly pricey. However, the ambience and the food make it worth it.

Great atmosphere and setting, there are not too many restaurants that rival Saddle Peak in this category. Unfortunately the food does not come close to a match. We have visited SP many times over the years and what once was a true dinning expierience, is gone. The food was very bland, they were out of a "main" dish and we were one of the first seatings. The service is average which would be considered below par for a restaurant of it's reputation. Not the days of Alice.

Being a Vegetarian, the Elks, Moose, Deer heads on the wall were moderately disturbing, but I also recognize that we are omnivores. I do eat fish, and had a really wonderful trout, caesar salad and endive salad. The martinis were immaculate and the less expensive port was to our liking. The meal was quite expensive, but not surprisingly so. The wait staff filled our waters many times without our asking. Great experience for an anniversary dinner. We were treated to drinks by a cousin who phone it in from Washington DC. Quite the surprise. Turning the tables on her, we will treat her to an entire dinner at Saddle Peak next time she's in town. The sorbet at the end was some of the best I've ever tasted.

We have been to Saddle Peak in the past. The food on our recent visit was average. The rack of lamb was not newsworthy; it also did not come out as ordered. The caesars salad was weak/the parmesan cheese placed on the top did not come close to an aged cheese. The Seabase was prepared ok, but the dish was also not newsworthy. The scallop appetizer was over cooked. If it had not been for the service, the night would not have been momorable at all.

We've been coming to Saddle Peak for over 20 years. The last time we came the food was just OK, after all these years a little disappointing. As for this visit, everything was superb. I had the combo with venison, buffalo and elk. Michelin level preparation, presentation and service. We had a wonderful, cozy, intimate corner table upstairs. The bread pudding for desert was to die for. Saddle Peak remains unique in its rustic hunting lodge ambiance, unique menu, wonderful cozy bar by the fireplace and a killer wine list to boot.
