Sabrosa's kitchen offers guests the opportunity to enjoy recipes rooted in culture and brimming with authentic Mexican flavors. Influenced by Jose's experience growing up on his family’s farm in Guanajuato, Mexico, each dish is prepared with ingredients derived from the organic and sustainable agricultural bounty of Northern California.

From the bar guests can indulge in simple and seasonal cocktails made to compliment Jose's dishes. Sabrosa's bar program is lead by mixology veteran Matt Stanton, and offers a variety of hand crafted cocktails and margaritas, an expansive beer and wine list, and over 24 thoughtfully selected tequilas and mezcals.

  • "Excellent Mexican food, the kind you find in better restaurants in major cities of Mexico, with classic mole sauces and ingredients, very well prepared, and very different from the taquerias and average Mexican restaurants you commonly find in the US. The service was very good. However, they packed you tightly at small tables, and at times you bumped elbows with your companions. The acoustics in the room echoed the clamor and chatter of the mostly young clientele. The name of the restaurant, "Sabrosa," a Spanish word meaning "tasty or flavorful," is quite fitting."

  • "We had a tremendous meal here. Robust flavors in the ceviche. The fish entree has a semi spicy tomato sauce that is amazing. We tried the carnitas plate as well, which you roll into home made warm tortillas and apply salsa and pickled veggies. Awesome!"

  • "I went with a few girl friends for Sunday brunch on a lovely afternoon. Great patio and they were able to reserve us a spot outside with no issues, which was great. The food we ordered was hit and miss, and we never received our appitizers. The service was friendly and helpful just a little slow on the bill. I might try this restaurant again in a year or so - or just for drinks, once they have the kinks worked out."

  • "We have gone here twice and have enjoyed it both times. Be prepared for it to be VERY noisy even if it is not full..But the food is awesome. Best margaritas I have had in a while. Fantastic quesidillas and guacamole. Also had a delicious mole short rib thing. Order several things and share. Worth the trip. But don't plan on having an intimate conversation. We could barely hear out waitress it was so loud. But delicious and LIVELY!"

  • "I love what they have done to this place! The old place "city tavern" doesn't even come close to what they have turned this place into. You can get a well prepared meal, a DELICIOUS cocktail and still not be at a frat party in the marina. It is so conveniently located and the service was great. The interior design is so awesome, the energy is great, personalities of staff are energetic and it helps they are all attractive ;) I love the ambiance of this restaurant and can't wait to bring my family here for brunch!"

This place badly needs some sound-deadening - it's all flat hard surfaces and full of loud Marina folks..On Saturday night, I basically had to shout loudly across a table for conversation and could still barely hear, and then go home with ringing ears. Will be back for cocktails - doubt I could stand the noise again."

  • "We had an amazing meal at Sabrosa. You have to try the Tlacoyo. The agua chile ceviche is a bargain at $13. The Pasilla chicken is awesome. Never had better mexican food anywhere. The cocktails ( the spicy Macho Margarita Is a must) are equally impressive and the service was friendly and professional. Great restaurant."

  • "I had an ok experience here. Everything was fine - the food was interesting, the service was ok (not great) the server was friendly. The ambiance was ok; the lighting is a little off and there are lots of hard surfaces so it was quite noisy and hard to hear everyone. They accommodated our group of six quite comfortably. But they wouldn't seat us until at least four of us showed up, which was not preferable but it was fine. OVerall I had no problems, had an enjoyable time. But in a sea of great options this one doesn't stand out. I probably won't be going back."

Very friendly waiter and good service. The Tacos were a little weird but everything else we ate was divine! Great chips and guac, fantastic quesidillas. the margaritas do pack a punch so be careful! We will return again soon!"

Hostess and manager onsite were extremely accommodating for SuperBowl Sunday -giving us opportunity to sit directly below the TVs and turning up the volume w/out turning it into sports bar craziness. Bartender was authentic -based on where he was from, his excitement to create and offer unique and spot on margaritas for the group and engagement and excitement for what he specialized in. Love the decor/ambiance/vibe/energy of the place/staff/offering. Excited for Sanbrosa and what it is offering /bringing to the old Marina."

  • "The food was excellent. The service was terrific. The decor is very nice. But, the noise level is absolutely unbearable and I was there early in the evening when the restaurant was only about half full. As a result, we will not return for dinner unless we dine outside on the sidewalk which I prefer not to do. I will try it again at lunch time when, hopefully, it is not as noisy. I thought Mamacita, a few blocks away, and Nopa were noisy but this place out does them both."

  • "We loved the food! Took 13 minutes for our sever to greet us.9 minutes later, we got our drink and apps ordered.Then, she disappeared so we asked the door lady to take our order. Then, she finally came and took or order but she looked like we were a major burden on her by ordering food. We complimented the food and the overpriced drinks. A nice guy came over twice to check on us (I felt like he wanted us to leave). They lack good dessert options.Where's the chocolate???? We left and had a fabulous dessert at Ristobar which had better service on New Year's Day. I won't be back. There are too many great places in SF with better customer service and less $$ drinks. It was way too loud. I couldn't hear my friend seated across from me."

  • "Even for a 'bar scene' it was particularly loud... you MUST do something about the noise level. Our service was good, as in friendly staff but the timing of everything was, frankly, ridiculous! Food came out in bits and pieces .... 1 app with someone else's entree... while still waiting for a drinks from the bar... 3 had been served waiting for the 4th beverage... Since it took so long for the drinks we ordered the next round when the server finally arrived with that last drink. Eventually all items arrived. (1 or 2 at a time) The food itself was rather tasty, but the rest of the experience took away from that. We were yelling at each other to be heard."

  • "This has to be the best Mexican restaurant in SF right now. The Caldo (chicken soup) is the best I've ever had. The ribs with mole sauce are beautifully flavored and the chicken entree with red pepper sauce was cooked perfectly, incredible flavors. The cocktails are equally delicious. The Pepino Diablo and Macho Margarita are amazing. Overall, a truly fantastic meal."

  • "I'll start by saying that the service was terrific. From beginning to end that was great! However, the food was bad. I'm not one to complain to wait staff about food quality so I would send my food back. It was what I ordered, it just wasn't good. I could barely cut my quesadilla with a knife. I had picked this spot because it looked cool. And the setting was great, but it was so loud that I couldn't hear the person across the table. I might tell a friend to grab a drink here at the bar, but only if they are with one other person. Not good for groups. Sorry Sabrosa! I had high hopes for you."

  • "In what dining world, when two guests order a salad, an appetizer and two entrees does the restaurant bring all four plates at once? And when the server sees there isn't enough room on the table for the plate of tortillas, she hands you the plate and walks away like "this isn't my problem"... Overall wait staff was really untrained. It was very loud like eating in a bar. Drinks were good. The menu items read like they will be really good, but they were mediocre at best. (Cactus dish was like mush, carnitas was dry without even being braised properly). I suggest you eat across the street at Takko across the street for better quality food at 1/3 the price and then go to Sabrosa for drinks."
