The bar menu will focus on snacks, medium sized plates and brick oven flatbreads while the dinner menu combines small, medium and large plates to encourage sampling and sharing.   • "Did some research prior to coming here, and the menu sounded so good....and with two sizes to most selections! Great idea! We had a wonderful waiter who didn't try to talk us into ordering more....but wanted it to be just right. His recommendations were superb, and we especially loved the dates wrapped in bacon and bleu....also the beet salad and the Lemon Salted KC Strip Steak entree.....enough for two! The sweet corn creme brulee was outstanding as a side dish!!!!"

  • "Sable was recommended by our hotel staff, but I should have trusted my intuition when most of the tables were empty on a Sunday during brunch. Our waitress promptly greeted us and then disappeared for what seemed an eternity and not just once, but consistently throughout the meal. We are fans of tapas, but our choices were definitely overpriced for the size and quality. Husband commented his French toast was much better at our hotel than Sable. My lobster roll was mediocre at best. We decided not to order additional dishes due to the poor quality and service. We enjoyed so many wonderful restaurants in Chicago. This was not one of them."

  • "We have been to Sable about five times and have always enjoyed the good food and service. We really like Marty. We were there Saturday night however and did not have Marty as our server when we noticed that all if the people around us were being moved to another location. In a few minutes we figured out why as the ceiling started dripping on our table. We asked a waiter who was just hanging around to change our table also and he refused. Finally the manager, who is a lovely woman, came over and apologized and gave us another table. Our waitress was a youngish blonde who did not help at all. Although the food is very good, portions are tiny and it is expensive. I'm not sure we will return."

  • "On our visit to Sable, my coworkers and I had a blast choosing items off the eclectic menu. We shared everything from fried cheese curds to scallop ceviche to chicken and waffles with bourbon syrup. We also had beet salad, lemon risotto, lobster rolls, and evening buns. The food was incredible--every single item was a delight. The drinks were also perfectly balanced. We enjoyed the variety in Sable's menu, and plan on goin back every time we visit the city. PS. The sweet corn brûlée was to die for and serves as a perfect dessert, even though it's on the main menu."

  • "This is the second time I've been to sable. Each time the food was incredible and I savored every bite. It's a good thing their chef is amazing because other aspects are rather disappointing. I had the same waitress both times, and each time she looked bored being there and was not friendly at all. The food and drinks came out incredibly slowly. I think we waited twenty minutes before our drinks finally came out. So Sable, your food saves you, because if it was based on your service alone, it would be one star."

  • "We chose to dine outside on a recent Thursday evening, as it is very loud inside. Our hostess (I'm sorry I don't recall your name!) was just lovely and very helpful with a special request. Our server, Robert, was delightful. The service side of our visit was the most memorable. The food, unfortunately, was good but not great. Ingredients were definitely high quality. There were plenty of choices. We had bacon-wrapped dates, olives, risotto, truffle butter sliders and shrimp and grits. Favorites were the olives and the dates. The most disappointing were the shrimp and grits. Overcooked shrimp and very fishy grits. Desserts good. Cocktails good, but a bit pricey for the quantity of the pour. I would go back for what was an overall good time."

Asparagus salad was nice; the south indian veg curry is always my go to dish at SK&B. Perfection. The lamb shoulder with pita was lovely. The food is fabulous and the service is very good. Our server was very knowledgeable. Cant wait to go back and eat the rest of the menu:)"

  • "A great choice to meet my out of town visitor for dinner. Chic decor, big cocktail menu, lots of variety on the size and choices for small plates, and attentive service. We met early and split several small plates, bacon jam any one? Be sure to try it, or any of the other mouth-watering choices, shrimp and grits or tuna tostadas, for example. Kudos to this top chef for making this a destination in and of itself. The Palomar's hotel guests have a great dining experience at their doorstep. We met early, and had time to chat before the place really started filling up and the noise increased."

  • "We had an excellent experience. Our table was right by the kitchen and we love to sit close by to the action as we really enjoy watching the pros at work. Our waiter, I believe his name was Scott, did a great job of orchestrating the arrival of our various courses and we found the food to be very good, especially the asparagus appetizer special, the olives poached in olive oil, and, particularly our dessert course, the sweet corn crème brulee. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Chicago."

  • "Sable is a nice modern restaurant with a bar/snack area at the front and restaurant at the back. Table layout is ok but not fantastic. But the food! It was really lovely. One thing to be aware of, it doesn't all arrive at once so plan to share and to take your time dish by dish. Highly recommend the charcuterie meats for starter - all cured onsite. The soft shelled crab was also excellent. Good, varied wine list and in a great location (we went to the lovely bookstore "AfterWords" after our meal)."

  • "This was my first time attending this restaurant. They were super accommodating. My date was running 20 minutes late and they were very understanding. Food Was absolutely superb. The chef sent us a taste sample before our meal even started... this in turn set the bar for the rest of the night. Our server was awesome (forgot his name shaved head, facial hair). Very knowledgeable about all of the food and very kind and funny. Between the amazing food and awesome service I would definitely return again. "

  • "First of all I love the decor, went here with a girlfriend for a late dinner on a Saturday night. The bar was packed, but that's because the drinks are unique and delicious, great for when you feel like experimenting. The staff was so friendly and helpful, and the food comes out very fast. The only complaint is the food was hit or miss, it's small plate style which I love , but not all dishes are winners. Loved the shrimp and grits and the cheese and herb rolls, I got the scallops and they really disappointed especially since they were recommended by the waiter. But other than that really enjoyed sable!"

  • "My husband and I had dinner this past Sunday after going to see Motown the Musical. The food is fun and very well prepared. The last time I was here was about 1 year ago. I have to say that the menu had not changed much. I was a little disappointed since the last time we came, we pretty much tried everything on the menu. This time around we were not super hungry so we just ordered a few small plates. The cheese curds with spicy ketchup, devil eggs, bacon wrapped dates stuffed w/ blue cheese, mini truffle butter burgers. I think the truffle butter burgers were the only thing new we had. Don't get me wrong, the food is very good. I was just hoping for some new options."

  • "The food was phenomenal. And since it was a tapas/small plates restaurant, we got to sample a lot of it! The chicken and waffles, sea scallops, grilled octopus, bacon wrapped dates and tuna tartar were just some of our favorites. Dessert was amazing. And our drinks were all delicious. Our waiter, Scott, was very attentive and friendly. He was also extremely knowledgable about the food and drink menu, especially the scotches. He made multiple suggestions on cocktails for us to have when we weren't sure what we wanted to try, and his final suggestion for a nice glass of scotch for me to end the night with was on point! Would definitely come back here next time we visit Chicago again. Highly recommend it!"
