Diner Reviews
  • "We were warmly greeted by Mason, our server. The dinner was simply fantastic, great attention to detail, the freshest ingredients, and some "no drama" , much appreciated customization. The salmon- superb. And the oddest but most delicious started, wok-cooked green beans with cashew. Great mixed drinks as well. What a gem."

  • "Again, dinner at Sabio was wonderful. This time, I was there with colleagues for a work dinner. The other 4 members of the party were in from out of town/state and wanted a nice dinner - Sabio had just that. Our server was in-training during her first night at Sqbio but she has clearly worked in other fine-dining restaurants because her service was excellent. She was assisted by another server as part of her training and he too was there to provide great service. Te food was amazing, as usual, and everyone was still talking about their meal and time at Sabio during our meetings the next day."

  • "We were late to make dinner reservations and our usual spots were booked, so we tried Sabio's and were pleasantly surprised. Great food, great service and wonderful atmosphere, exactly what we were looking for. Well worth a try..."

  • "We were visiting Lexington and discovered Sabio (it was in a space we had been before under a different name & theme). We had a delightful evening! The atmosphere was very comfortable - energetic, but not overwhelming. And, the food was EXCELLENT. Good variety and well presented and prepared. We will be back and have already recommended it to friends traveling to Lexington."

  • "Although our service was great, the food was not as great as I expected given the price range."

  • "We've eaten at Sabios several times now and it always enjoyable. They have good regular menu items and very good specials. The service is attentive without being overbearing. The entire staff is very pleasant. I'm looking forward to dining during the summer season. We've not yet been able to enjoy their patio. It looks very inviting. Our food was delicious. I look forward to our next visit."

  • "What a nice meal. It was marred only by one failure. We asked about adding Salmon to a salad. We were told it would be a $12 up charge. We agreed. The bill came. The upcharge was $15. (Only $3, and would not have changed our decisions...but, seriously?) We asked about it and our waiter sheepishly returned and told us the manager told him that he was given the old price when he went back to ask and that the new price for that upgrade was $15. I looked at the menu. The full Salmon entre with two sides was $16. On leaving, I asked the server if he would sell me the two sides for $1. Again, he apologized and indicated he had fought for the quoted price but was overruled. The fact that a manager wouldnt respect the quoted $ was disappointing"

  • "Looked forward to enjoying another delicious meal At this local restaurant. It was U KY game night So restaurant was busy & loud. Service was very Good even with the crowd & large tables. Scallops Were tender & fresh & steak was flavorful & Juicy. Only complaint was restaurant was chilly & dining room where we were seated was void Of any character except for 2 lovely chandeliers. Will Definitely return."

  • "We had a late reservation (10:00 pm) for Valentines day, came early and got seated by 9:30. The Maitre D' / hostess staff was accommodating and fast. Our server was excellent in every respect. She could read our table well, chatted a little, took our orders and left us to enjoy our food and each others' company. She knew the wine list. She checked back frequently. The food was well prepared, came to the table hot, and left the critic no room for carping. The dining room was full when we arrived and still well populated by the time we left, though we lingered over dessert. Although it was late when we departed, there was no hint of impatience from the staff. This was our second visit to Sabio and we'll undoubtedly return."

  • "A friend and I had lunch there the other day to celebrate her birthday. We both had the French onion soup, which was okay - nothing special. My friend also had the turkey+brie sandwich, and i had the crab cake. Both came with thick French fries. My crab cake came with a rouille/aioli sauce. She liked the sandwich. My crabcake was just okay. Not very flavorful. A lot of breading, it seemed. The rouille was nice and spicy. The side salad seemed like it didn't have any dressing on it. I was just underwhelmed. I had been to Sabio a couple times before, and was really impressed, so this was a comedown. Previous time i had lobster bisque, which was incredible. I might be back, but this experience was not as good as previous ones."

  • "The French onion soup was excellent! The crab cake sandwich and the lamb sandwich entrees were flawless and served with extraordinary french fries. A place to go for a special lunch where it is quiet enough to have an intimate conversation or a private business discussion."

  • "Had a family dinner with our adult children and thoroughly enjoyed Sabio's. We ate in the bar area, which potentially could be loud for a meal but wasn't. We got the beet salad and fried green tomato salad which were excellent. An appetizer and one of those salads would be a perfect meal, but the majority of us got the filet mignon. My daughter got the duck which was very good. Two of us substituted the gruyere bread pudding for the twice baked potato and were glad we did...very good. The filets were tender and very flavorful. A side dish of asparagus topped off the meal. I don't feel like the prices were any higher than other restaurants of the same caliber. Will definitely be returning....a good addition to Lexington's restaurant scene."

  • "Great experience! For a starter we had the Wok Charred Green Beans which was recommended by our server; loved the asian flair and spice. My friend had the Chicken Marsala; it was perfectly cooked and presented... though it was a rather unremarkable dish, for the price we expected more from it. The Pork Tenderloin was perfectly prepared and delicious; I loved the peach marsala sauce and the goat cheese polenta. For dessert we had the Crema Quemada and it was amazing!"

  • "When my wife and I are going out to eat specifically for a nice meal I don't mind paying well for food that looks the price. Sabio has the look, but more importantly, the taste of food that you would expect to pay a bit more for. My wife was extremely impressed by the options, the atmosphere (it's in an old school building), and the wait staff. We are looking forward to going with a group of friends again in the future."

  • "Frankly most of our party didn't realize there was something new in the old Dudley's building. Without OpenTable, we probably wouldn't have thought of it and that would have been too bad because it was a fantastic dining experience. The service staff is top notch. They worked with us to add a few diners to our party the day before our reservations. We got there just a little early to check out the bar and the hostess and bartenders were very courteous and professional. The same can be said for our server, who made wonderful recommendations for our dinner. Our entire party (11 people) thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our meal, Sabio should be included on a short list with Lexington's other elite dining options and should not be overlooked."

  • "Sabio has some serious food. The apple and beet salad was beautiful and delicious, wrapped in English cucumber. The lobster bisque was rich and flavorful. The scallops in the scallop entree were cooked perfectly, seared and soft in the middle. The ahi tuna special, though, was a mess of flavors on the plate--two spicy sauces, fingerling potatoes in a spicy coating, cole slaw with feta--seemed as if the kitchen was throwing everything it had at the defenseless pieces of nicely cooked tuna."

  • "I dined here recently with my three younger sisters as a Christmas present from a relative. The food was delicious, our server was very nice and made us feel very comfortable (despite the fact we were the boy reservation for the evening and had the entire place to ourselves). It really was a unique and fun experience. Did not realize a place such as this was in lexington. Will definitely be back!"

  • "We had an outstanding meal at Sabio. The staff was very accomodating to change our reserveration to 7 even though it was the night of the UK UL basketball game. I had the salmon and fried green tomato salad, it was excellent and our service was very good."

  • "We went to Sabio for the first time on a Friday evening. We had a reservation but the table where we were to be seated was in a dining room that was packed and was very noisy. We asked if there was a more quiet location and were told there would be in 20 to 30 minutes, so we went to the bar and had drinks. Actually the tables at the bar would have been our best bet since in the quiet room you could hear the bass from the music being played in the kitchen under where we were seated. It was annoying. On the other hand the food was great. My crispy duck was cooked exactly the way I like it and the wraps that came with it were excellent. My wife had salmon that she liked very much as well. Our service was good. I recommend Sabio."

  • "What a fantastic find in Lexington, Kentucky! The food and service were fantastic for our group of 10 celebrating my daughter's graduation from UK. Even my most picky eaters and most difficult to please attendees raved about the food! It was a great evening!"

  • "The food and service were very good. I had the duck, and it was good. The calamari tasted good, but were not crunchy because they were sitting in sauce (would rather have dipping sauce on side). The ambiance, however, was not very good. The music was too loud to carry on a conversation in a mostly empty restaurant and the decor is a bit odd. But I'd definitely go back and try it again."

  • "First visit. Sunday brunch. Everyone had different entrees - all four were very tasty and attractively prepared. Salmon eggs Benedict was outstanding as was French toast. Service a bit desultory, but not to the detriment of the overall experience."
