  • Failed to meet expectation

The food at Sabio was phenomenal, but everything else failed to meet expectation. We had a reservation, but were seated 35 minutes late. The owner called to let us know they were behind, however it was only 10 minutes before our reservation so we were already en route to the restaurant. As I said, once we received our dinner, the food was delicious. However, we waited more than 45 minutes to received our food, with no apology from our server or the owner. In addition, we ordered drinks to be delivered with our meal and did not receive them until after we were finished eating. We were a party of 10, but ordered few drinks and only dinner, no appetizers, so we were low maintenance. Despite the good food, I can't recommend the restaurant.

LOUD! LOUD! LOUD! Party of six adults looking forward to a social/relaxing dinner after a day at the races. Seated in the bar area and it was so loud and distracting you could not hold a conversation. We had to ask the server to repeat himself several times. He was patient, friendly and accommodating. Lobster risotto was over fried and lobster was non-existent. Steaks were good. Salmon was dry. Scallops were very good. Bacon bits in luke warm whipped potatoes were hard and added no flavor.Texture was annoying. Pasta was flavorful, heavily coated and rendered the presentation less than appealing. Experience did not meet our expectations per the Sabio web site and reviews. Web site menu has not been updated to coincide with restaurant menu.

First time at Sabio's. We arrived on time for our reservation and we were seated within 10 minutes of arrival. However, the hostess apologized for being over booked and seated us in the bar area. The noise level was off the charts. We asked to be moved, but nothing else was available. Service was good, all the staff was friendly and apologetic, but we had to wait 50 minutes for our food. Once our food finally arrived, it was very good and I will go back to try other dishes. Next time I will know to request a table outside of the bar area and allow extra time. I was surprised that I did not have a manager stop by and offer an apology or a complimentary drink for our extended wait.

Had drinks in the bar before dinner. The bar was busy but fun and the drinks were excellent! Unfortunately, the great service in the bar didn't carry over to the dining room. After we were seated, our server didn't take our drink orders for 10 mins. Our drinks arrived quickly, but then after placing our entree orders, we asked for bread that didn't arrive. 10 mins later, asked for bread again and never arrived. Our entrees were well played and were very tasty. My Ribey was well cooked (med rare) but was extremely tough! My wife's pork was exceptional. Unfortunately, our server never checked on us after the entrees were delivered, and I had to ask for every drink refill I got. I would try Sabio again, but hope service is improved.

  • Great food; slow, poor service

Everything we ordered was excellent including the presentation, with the exception of the fried green tomato salad (very overdone with the dressing). However the service was extremely slow. We do not mind paying a premium for this type of dinner, but expect excellent service for these prices. We understand the kitchen can be backed up on a busy Friday night, but please be attentive with service including filling water glasses, serving cocktails and wine and at least bring bread to the table after the entree order is placed. We had to ASK to order before dinner cocktails about 15 minutes after being seated and it well over an hour before we even had bread on the table (We also had to ask for it).

We enjoyed our group of eight birthday celebration. The food and service was great. We were fortunate to start our dinner at 6:30 when it was less crowded. As the tables filled up so did the noise level. I was difficult to hear from one end of our table to the other.

Have dined at Sabio's twice; once inside and once outside. Both were memorable experiences. The ambiance was remarkable - quiet and romantic. The food and the service were exceptional. The portions are certainly large enough to share, too; even the salad. And they do all of the splitting prep in the kitchen, which is classy!! We had a very enjoyable evening and would definitely return.

The patio is a lovely place to dine. Our dinners were excellent and so was the presentation . The beef tenderloin was perfectly prepared and the potato gratin was divine. Great location, great decor. Food was tasteless. Barest basic seasonings. Filet was good quality but lacked even a touch of salt or pepper, as far as I could tell there wasn't anything seasoned. Rack of lamb was served rare and the quality was poor. Chewy and stringy. Duck breast was good as was the vegetable puree but was served over a violet colored sauce that was unappealing. Appetizers were lobster risotto, nearly over done in the fryer but tasty inside. Dungenes crab cake was mostly a deviled crab cake, not lump as our server indicated. I would probably try it again, assuming this time was a fluke since most of the reviews of the food have been positive. Service was okay not great.

The hostess greeted us warmly & appropriately. However, we found the young woman who waited our table to be uncommunicative, unresponsive, almost unfriendly. Once she brought us our food & asked a minute or two later how we were doing, we didn't see her again until much later. If the restaurant was busy (little sign of that, though some diners were outside), they should have additional staff. Food, BTW, was excellent but high-priced.

When we arrived we waited for about 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. Our server was Jane and she was terrific but the kitchen and bar must have been extremely busy because everything took forever. My chicken was dry and the mashed potatoes were cold and tasteless. It was overall not a good meal.

We took out if town guests because of the historic building In which Sabios is located. Also because we know the food is good and the menu is varied. We had a wonderful evening. The tables are placed far enough apart that diners are unaware of others conversations. We all chose different entrees and we all loved our choices the waiter was attentive without being obtrusive. We sat for quite a while after eating and we were left alone to enjoy our conversation. We have eaten lunch at Sabiis many times. I will definitely put it on the list for dinner as well.

Being a resident of Miami Beach, I am used to fine dining with a great selection of restaurants to choose. Lexington has so many restaurants, but in my opinion, most are below average, especially in a metropolitan town. My experience at Sabio was a great experience for myself, and my guest. The service was good, having three people who attended the table very periodically; the food was most delectable, and served in a very timely manner; and was a very nice atmosphere. I throughly enjoyed myself, and when in the greater Lexington area again, I will dine with Sabio.

My wife and I went to Sabio's for our wedding anniversary and were glad we did. We took advantage of an unusually cool July evening and dined on the patio, where the trees and fences provide good separation from the street noise. Our waiter (alas, it was his last night there) was personable and knowledgeable and provided excellent service. The food was exceptional. We especially liked the wok charred green beans as a starter, the grilled vegetable salad, and the crispy duck breast which was accompanied by wonderful pureed root vegetables and haricot verts. Sabio's is a real gem in Lexington.

The food was perfectly prepared and well presented. A fried green tomato salad was delightful, but a charge of 1/2 the price was charged for splitting it between two. A disappointment! Service was excellent, but the wine list, particularly by the glass was not very interesting. Even the bottle list lacked a good variety of white wines. With so many really fine wines available, at customer friendly prices, the selection was not so good. Certainly worth returning to and we will do so.

Scallops were perfect... probably the best I've had in Lexington. Grilled ceaser salad was also fantastic! Our service was fair, but very nice when we saw her. Had the creme Brule and bread pudding with a cup of coffee.... damn good! Creme Brule was different in favor (notes of lavender and honey) but very good. Bread pudding was pretty damn good ( Palmers and Johnathan at Gratz park better). Overall, good good, drinks and atmosphere .

First time at Sabio, but won't be our last. The restaurant was charming, with its glass windows, exposed brick, beautiful hardwood floors, paintings and unique colors. The service was first class, the food was excellent...best steak I have had in a long time. Our waiter was extremely attentive and just a nice guy. We asked him to take a couple of pictures, as this was an anniversary dinner, and he was more than willing. There were several wine options; everything was reasonable. The bar area as well as the outdoor seating also would have been a good choice for our meal. A totally enjoyable evening!

Outdoor dining experience should be requested. The entre and appetizer food is over done, sauces are heavy and rich almost to the extent of hiding any true quality of the food. Not a place for foodies, but a lovely place to visit for desert or a simple glass of wine on a summer evening on their patio. The service is good, but if the only server employed the night you visit gets a big table your smaller table's service might suffer. This place is definitely not the old Dudley's at this location.

We ate out on the brick patio, which is a fantastic environment with the huge shade trees and garden right by. Our waitress was fabulous, and very knowledgeable about gluten-free diets, including the difference between celiac and gluten-sensitivity. Our smoked salmon appetizer was wonderful, the wine was good, and my husband and I both had the salmon for our entree. I thought the beans were delicious, but the avocado/gauc type topping on the fish needed a little something more. The dessert I had with ice cream, berries and a champagne cream topping was amazing. I would definitely go back and would recommend it to others.
