For centuries a five thousand mile trade route has joined the Mediterranean to China through Afghanistan and India. Known mostly for the Silk Trade, the Silk Road has acted as a conduit of ideas, cultures, music, food & spices throughout all of its regions. Laili aims to bring the age old flavors and traditions of the Silk Road to life by creating a positive and relaxing environment with a culturally rich and flavorful dining experience.
The name Helmand comes from one of the most beautiful states in Afghanistan. It is best known by it"s river "Helmand River" which flows through the desert region, providing water diverted for irrigation.
Helmand Palace is owned and operated independently where you can taste Afghan's most famous and delicious dishes, soups, and vegetables. Our popular entrees include char-broiled leg of Lamb marinated in puree of onion, sun-dried baby grapes and garlic, served with sauteed eggplant and pallow rice or homemade pastry shells filled with onions and beef, served on yogurt and topped with carrots, yellow split-peas and beef sauce.
According to the Mercury News (2007), "The menu in the main restaurant is equally eclectic (compared to its wine lounge), with unusual dishes such as pumpkin borani, which features spicy peppers and garlic, and aushak, pasta filled with leek and cilantro and topped with garlic-yogurt sauce and sautéed ground beef, and simpler starters and entrees such as grilled salmon and beef, shrimp, lamb, and chicken kabobs. The owners have designed their menu to accommodate the palates of those who like spicier, more exotic dishes and those who prefer milder, well-prepared salads, vegetables, and grilled seafood and meat.” Come experience this treasure in Downtown Pleasanton in either the main dining room or our relaxing wine lounge.

Troya was known as llios or llion, a name which can be found in the epic poem, where the poet immortalized the city through mythological characters like King Priam, Hector, Paris and beautiful Helen. For centuries, this story was regarded as only myth until the ruins of the city were found in western Turkey in the mid-19th century.
At Troya, we strive to create modern Turkish cuisine with south Mediterranean influences that celebrate this glorious history. We invite you to visit us and experience our creations with one of the city's most eclectic wine list and Troya's relaxed dining room.

Ziryab started out as a traditional Mediterranean restaurant complete with a hookah bar. The hookah is gone, but the food and cocktails have expanded into new territory while still paying homage to their Middle Eastern roots. For instance Chef Khalid El Mourabit offers nicoise-style sardines with tomato confit and potatoes, or mussels with saffron mustard sauce. Everything is made in house, from the pita and falafel to the yogurt and spice mixes.
An example of one of Zach Taylor's many signature cocktails is the "Ziryab Manhattan" with date-infused Bulleit rye, vermouth, lapsang souchang-infused angostura bitters, and orange peel.
