The Metropolitan is a restaurant run by students of the Hospitality Tourism and Events Department at Metropolitan State University. This restaurant resides in MSU Denver’s new Hospitality Learning Center and is a learning environment providing a real world experience for aspiring hospitality majors. The restaurant is managed and operated during class hours and during traditional semesters. Consequently we may be open for 12 consecutive weeks and closed for a period of time between semesters. We are excited to provide our students with an opportunity to show the public what they have learned and what they can do. HECK’S - a.k.a. “Hex” - a six sided shape with equidistant lengths, relatively concentric with a center point. That’s the definition. Here’s the history.... The hexagonal room that houses Heck's is a replication of a room in one of our country’s national monuments, The Timberline Lodge located at the base of Mt. Hood, Oregon. We visited the Timberline Lodge in 1999, about the same time we contracted to purchase the Ranch. Taken by the sheer expanse and natural beauty of the hex room at Timberline, we felt there were few buildings that built today with that type of grand and inspiring craftsmanship. After that visit, including a hexagonal room as a centerpiece became the focus in planning the Lodge here at Devil’s Thumb Ranch.

Your Starlight Dining experience begins at The Maggie Restaurant at the base of Peak 9. This is where you will board the sleigh to start your moonlit journey up to TenMile Station.
We recommend arriving 10 minutes prior to your reservation time so as to not miss your sleigh boarding. The sleigh laps approximately every 30 minutes, so if you do miss your reservation, another sleigh would be available shortly following.
Warm, wool blankets are provided by your sleigh attendant during the sleigh ride, but please dress warmly. The sleigh ride is approximately 10 minutes long and upon arrival at TenMile Station, you are welcome to use our restrooms and coatroom to change into your dinner attire.
