A word from Rye Grill and Bar
The Rye Grill and Bar reopened to large crowds in January 2009 after a major renovation that boasts four separate dining rooms, fireplaces and a front porch. Long-time patrons will be relieved to know that it's still the casual neighborhood spot they've always loved. The Grill offers the same friendly service and menu favorites that made it a crowd pleaser for fifteen years, from it's fried calamari, Cajun chicken quesadillas and 4-layer dip to its salads, pizzas, sandwiches, sliders and burgers. Popular entrees include the Rye Grill's signature farfalle with hot Italian sausage, pan roasted filet mignon, pot chicken and fish selections. Guests may have drinks and appetizers in its lively mahogany bar room on the first floor or enjoy a bit more quiet at the nautical themed bar upstairs. Dining room options accommodate all for, dinner and private parties. Valet parking is available at lunch during the week.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Very good cocktails, surprisingly good pizza (perfectly-done broccoli rabe), decent wings, and superb mussels/clams in white wine/garlic broth. Sliders were a bit dry but overall good (and served w/my favorite, onion strings!)"

  • "Food was decent but a bit overpriced (I had the filet - average at best) but its comfortable, easy to get to and good ambience. A great place to go after work for drinks and appetizers. Server must have been new because she was a bit nervous, didn't quite know the menu but was pleasant and smiled and made us feel welcome. She didn't come by the table except once during dinner so we were left without drinks for quite a bit and the restaurant wasn't all that busy Again, I think it was due to inexperience and she was very nice so we let it pass.....just the one thing they should pay attention to. I would place the "blame" (too harsh a word but all I could come up with) on whoever trained her. A little more training is all she needs."

  • "The renovated Rye Bar and Grill is conveniently located next to the train station in Rye, NY. It's a great meeting place for friends - large, open and airy. Seting on the large "front porch" in nice weather. The menu is varied - great selections for both lunch a dinner - there's something for everyone! The service was terrific! I met an college friend I hadn't seen in 18 years and we were there 5 hours! The waitress let us go at our own pace, and a candle was added to our table as they set up for dinner."

  • "Food was good. We always enjoy our meals there but the coffee was terrible. The waitress brewed A fresh pot but it was still bad."

  • "It was my first time visiting this restaurant. I had the farfalle sith spinach which was so delicious! Loved the place. will definitely return soon."

  • "Sunday afternoon, upstairs, had a great time and wonderful conversation. Nice salad and seafood selection and a rather good wine list. Moderately pricey, but, all told, good value. We're ready to put this place into our regular rotation."

  • "It was so loud that we really found it hard to converse. Food was excellent, but we were disappointed with the menu of "Restaurant Week." There were three entree choices (At 7:15 on a saturday night) and they were out of one of them, which was the trout and three out of four of us wanted it. Onion soup was wonderful, as were the desserts. Our server, Tyler was outstanding. Will return, but perhaps a week night is better and a bit quieter."

  • "Restaurant week menu was very limited and portions were tiny. An insult for $30.00."

  • "If you are looking to go to a caual restaurant with decent burgers and other casual fare avoid Rye Bar and Gill. It is very disappointing that this place has take such a drastic turn downward. Perhaps the kitchen is so overextended because of the size of the place now or just that they need new kitchen staff. Regardless the food is really awful."

  • "Overall, we were pleased with the food although one of our diners had cold mashed potatoes and had to wait to receive a replacement order. Also, I think the wait staff was overworked for the number of diners."

  • "We arrived early for our reservation and were promptly seated. I had requested a quiet table for two and received a perfect one. We ate on the early side so that we could avoid the Saturday night crowds and noise. I had a caesar salad, and a shrimp quesadilla (on the list of specials for the evening). Both were delicious and generously portioned. My dining partner had the lobster bisque (also on the list of specials) and hamburger sliders. He also enjoyed his meal. Although they tried to deliver our appetizers twice, the service was attentive and the waiter apologized for the mistake. I had not been to this restaurant in many years; after this experience, we will happily go again soon."

  • "I was meeting a friend that I had not seen in awhile for lunch. RB&G was a great spot to meet for just that, as we were not rushed, service was friendly, and we never felt that the staff was waiting for us to leave! Food was good and hearty on a cold, winter's day. We both left agreeing we would meet up again soon, at the same spot."

  • "We went to RG&B last week. My kids are quite fond of the place. The mussel dish was plentiful and tasty. The French Onion Soup was flavorful but a tad salty. I ordered the Warm Goat cheese salad. The goat cheese was cold. I returned it to have it warmed. It came back almost as cold. It was a tasty salad but it was not as represented. Decor was comfortable and the ambiance was lively. I would like to try it another time to see if I would like it more. I think it is a good restaurant but I had heard it was better than I experienced.."

  • "This place fills the bill for many different groups and occasions. Cozy atmosphere with good seating choices. Good selection of beers and wines by the glass, and a menu that should make everyone happy. Always like it here."

  • "We had a very pleasant brunch here. The service was attentive but not intrusive. I had a delicious, incredibly fresh swordfish sandwich and a terrific cappuccino. The spacing of tables is so much nicer than at many other restaurants. The problem with brunch though, is that it happens to be pretty child intensive. If you don't have children in your party, keep your eyes open when you are being seated. We wound up in the back room surrounded by five tables of infants and toddlers who weren't that loud individually but collectively raised the noise level significantly, especially when the adults had to speak more loudly to be heard. And parents please, with all of the toy options available, squeaky toys should be left at home or in your car."

  • "From the bar waitstaff to the restaurant, the waitstaff could not have been nicer or more accomodating. We were a group of 5 high maintenance women with varying dietary restrictions and our waitress did not even flinch. SHe was so kind and informative and our orders came our perfect. We had a wonderful dining experience and plan to spend many more of our "girls nights out" at Rye Bar and Grill."

  • "We live in the area and have dined here several times, but I only joined OT recently so my review is late! The RG&B is a combination of neighborhood bistro and fine restaurant. The food is of a higher caliber than the atmosphere might suggest--although it's certainly a fine-looking place. The chef continues to surprise with excellent specials, and regular menu items are always great. Although it can get noisy, it's the pleasant chatter of happy patrons not the annoying din of trend followers. To sum up: excellent food at a reasonable (but not cheap) price in a warm, welcoming environment. It's kid friendly, too, but since it's an affluent area, they'll have their noses pointed at smart phones and tablets, and don't cause too much bother!"

  • "There is not much to recommend this place -- you can't park, the service is terrible, the food is only fair, and it's so noisy you can't hear each other talk. Why bother ? There are much better options out there."

  • "We had a 7:30 reservation for 6 people for my birthday. We arrived on time, and at 7:50 they tried to sit us at a table that was in the bar but pretty much on top of the hostess stand (without telling us that this is where they were going to sit us). After telling them that we diid not want to sit in the bar and that they should have told us that was where they were going to sit us, they had us wait another 10 minutes for another table upstairs. I found the man at the host stand particularly snobby. Once we sat down, we waited 20 minutes for a waiter to even take our drink orders. When my wife ordered a 2nd drink, the waiter delivered it 20 minutes later, practically when we were done with dinner."

  • "Although Rye bar and grill is a large restaurant, we had a table by the fire so it felt more personal. The food is good, although pricey for what you get. We appreciate that this restaurant is local with ample parking in the lots in town. If need be, you can do valet parking."

  • "A perfect family friendly spot well located near the train station in Rye, NY. Good food, fun, trendy-casual atmosphere and big bar scene separated from the dining areas."

  • "One of the nicest things about this restaurant is the fact that all the way from snacks with drinks to full blown family dinners the selections are interesting, with unusual flavors or combinations. It would easily accommodate finicky eaters and traditionalists. Service is attentive but not too overwhelming with interruptions."

  • "Great food, great for families, and I would definitely recommend this place! My son left a toy there on a rainy day, and the staff was kind enough to run out and get us after we had left the restaurant to give us his toy. Besides giving stellar service and serving excellent food, I was very pleased. The ambiance was very pretty too. They had the place beautifully decorated for Christmas and the prices were very reasonable. I thought that it would be a casual pub, but it was a very pretty restaurant, without being stuffy."
