  • "great food, cocktails, and service. easy choice for dinner. order the scotch eggs, anything on the drink menu, meatloaf sandwich, duck breast, the duck confit if they have it, whatever they have as a special. mac and cheese is good and the steak is a solid choice. the service is always attentive but not overbearing and if you go early (before 8pm) it usually isn't packed. I never hesitate to recommend Rye."

  • "I've been wanting to eat here for years and upon finally dining here I must say it not only lives up to the hype, it exceeds it. The food is terrific. Everything is reasonably priced and everything is simple yet innovative. Chef Cal does a great job. I went for the scotch egg, meatloaf sandwich, bacon mac & cheese and finished with the most amazing lemon cake. I'll probably come back repeatedly to try everything on the menu."

  • "Dinner was sensational from beginning to end..it was a Tuesday night and friends told us it could be very noisy because the bar is a hot spot but it was calm and peaceful and the service was perfect. Love the setting the restaurant makes you feel like you are transported to a better time..All the silverware and dishes added to the ambience of some time ago..CHARMING..the food was delicious and beautifully presented. I swooned over everything I ordered and cannot wait to go back to try other things. Im still thinking about what I had and its more than a week later..I highly recommend a trip from Manhattan or anywhere for that matter for this little gem in Brooklyn..."

  • "Came here to take a dear friend out to dinner before he moves back home to California. Ordered the meatloaf sandwich and creamed spinach. The sandwich was huge and delicious. Maybe a little too much sauce but nonetheless it was good. The creamed spinach had enough cream and cheese not to be overwhelming and not salty. 6pm the place was empty. It does get crowded after 8pm make a reservation. Also the menu changes constantly but the meatloaf is a staple. The service was good. Constant bussing and filling of water. I've been here several times with dates and friends and everyone loved it. My friends even had their after wedding party downstairs in the bar which was fun. It's nice to have a restaurant where locals can enjoy it too."

  • "Rye reminded me of Cheers. It felt like being home. A really nice local neighborhood feel....just really comfortable no big deal. Great cocktails, great comfort food served beautifully. Oysters were fresh and delicious served with a mignonette and cocktail sauce with fresh horseradish to add. The beet napoleon was beautifully plated, creamy, crisp, and super flavorful. The recommended halibut did not disappoint and the meatloaf sandwich would have satisfied any foodie lumberjack! Loved it."

  • "This restaurant was a solid pick in Williamsburg. There were some kids jumping around (negative aspect) and they didn't dim the lights until about halfway through our meal (negative). On the positive end, the scotch egg was delightful, each aspect delicious in its own right. The duck breast melted in our mouths, and the broccoli rabe (that came with the pork belly) was absolutely stunning. Seared with a blackened flavour, and reminiscent of the Philly rabe, this was most definitely a surprise. Old-fashioned: 8 out of 10, Rye Whiskey: 9 out of 10."

  • "I love this restaurant more and more every time my wife and I go. Whether its $5 burgers and Old Fashioned's for happy hour, brunch on the weekend or dinner for a special occasion, the kitchen and the friendly staff at Rye always impress. This past Sunday, I took my wife there for her birthday and we had a wonderful time. The wait staff is friendly and the service is prompt. The food is incredibly good! You can't go wrong. I especially recommend the mac+cheese, the scallop ceviche, the leg of lamb, the duck breast, the warm chocolate cake and the steamed lemon cake."

  • "We wanted a cute brunch spot for 6 people and Rye was great. The decor is beyond amazing and the small details added to the charm. The food was delicious and it was an excellent value. All 6 guests enjoyed the meal thoroughly. The only down sides were slow service and lack of a fan/air conditioning. I would definitely return and would definitely recommend to friends. We had the Rye Slam, poached eggs, and Rye benedict, as well as the donuts. Everything was delicious. "

It was a perfect venue for our small group and the food was as described. Loved, loved, loved it. And the complimentary surprise desserts were really appreciated.   • "We flew in from Utah for a class at nearby Makeshift Society and booked a table based on reviews and the menu. Rye exceeded our expectations. My advice is to book your reservation early! This is a gem of a restaurant. It’s cozy atmosphere and friendly staff paired with delicious food and cocktails, make for an enjoyable evening. We started with cocktails, the Diablero was my favorite. Our waitress suggested the brussell sprout appetizer, and it is not to be missed. You will want to order the Mac & Cheese and share it with your party. I would also recommend the pan-roasted halibut and spring ravioli. The presentation and flavors of both were fabulous. The menu is reasonably priced, as is the beer and cocktail selection. We will be back!"

  • "We went there expecting a good diner, but the service as well as the food was OUTSTANDING ! If you do go to the Rye ( you must ) ask the server to describe the menu ! He will make your mouth water with every meal. The Duck was amazing ! The chicken was outstanding (did you ever wonder why people take chiken in restaurants ? Now we know ! ) You can really appreciate the detailed work of the kitchen crew. The Chef has this vision of food where quality and taste are totally affordable. It's not a cheap meal, but we were delighted by the whole experience. "

  • "I went to Sunday brunch with my boyfriend here a couple of days ago and it was wonderful. The service was extremely fast and the food was absolutely amazing. Portions were not too large, but a reasonable size, which I thought was quite nice. I got their Rye Slam with an iced coffee and think it was one of the best brunch experiences I've ever had. I'd definitely recommend this place."

Staff allowed us extra time at the table as we waited for our guests to arrive, and did not rush us out the door after our meal. Fun place to dine in Williamsburg!"

  • "I came here with a party of 7 adults and one toddler for brunch on Easter Sunday. Everyone was very happy with their food and we ordered just about everything on the menu. The service was good, a little slow since it was really crowded. But nothing unreasonable and since we had a lot to talk about, we were fine with waiting. Sadly they don't have any high chairs or booster seats. So if you're bringing a small child, prepare accordingly. The decor is cute with mis-matched dishes and cutlery. If you come during brunch, it gets quite loud. Overall, really good food and would certainly come back if in the area."

  • "I love Rye. They have a great brunch and wonderful dinner. The food is perfectly prepared. The staff is friendly and professional. I've gone for birthdays, to catch up with friends, and have brought my parents. Just had dinner there with my dad and we had a great time. They gave us a quiet booth table in the back, per our request. We shared oysters, scallop cevice, each had the salmon with perfectly crispy skin, and warm chocolate cake and pistachio ice cream for dessert. The wine list had great options at several price levels. It was a lavish dinner and a great experience."

  • "I found out about RYE from one of those "food" shows on TV. It was highly recommended so I saved their website as a 'favorite'. When I recently picked up some tickets for Black Sabbath at the Barclays Center, I made sure to make a reservation to eat at RYE. Both the restaurant and the concert were fantastic ! The menu is pretty interesting. Being a fan of meatloaf (the food, not the band), my friend ordered RYE's famous Meatloaf Sandwich. I had the Oysters, the Brussels Sprouts, and the Salmon. The food was delicious and the service was great. The tables are a bit small but the place looks really cool ; like an old fashioned pub from the early 1900's. It was well worth the trip and next time I think I'll try meatloaf myself . . ."

  • "The food here was great, and the Brussels Sprouts were out of this world - have never had better. Odd to rave about a side, but they really were that good. I got the meatloaf sandwich which was also great. Great cocktail list and wine too. Was with a group of six (automatic 20% grat.) so could have affected the waitress's attitude. She just wasn't very friendly. Also my wife ordered a duck confit appetizer as a main and it was brought out with all the apps. It was pretty obvious when it just sat there untouched through the apps until everyone's mains came out, and usually at a nice restaurant either a) this doesn't happen or b) the waitstaff recognizes and corrects the situation. I'd still recommend it because the food is great."

  • "Excellent local place with an interesting take on brunch items. They take familiar ingredients and put them together in newer combinations, all of which worked well and with a savory aspect. The biscuits were good, but expensive at $6.00 for three, as were the donuts. The drinks, such as the Red Rooster, their version of a Bloody Mary, were a tad on the expensive side at $11 each, and a little small. But they tasted fine. All in all, a good, if somewhat pricey experience."

  • "Really a great experience, from the food (artichoke salad special was delicious, and we both had the chicken for dinner which was amazing) and the service (Maggie has a great knowledge of the menu and a great attitude too), as well as the hostess and other staff, this is a definite recommend.   • "Rye was very nice. Food prepared well and very tasty. My ribs and the ravioli was delicious. However, a very good restaurant is based on the whole experience from the beginning cocktail to the delicious food, nice wine and excellent service. So the disappointment was the cocktails. Our Martinis' were served in 'aperitif' glasses and were watered down!!! It is a shame when you go to a really nice restaurant , like Rye, and you start with a cocktail, you are immediately turned off. It gives the appearance that the restaurant is trying to save money by cutting back on the size of the glass and proper mix for a drink. Please consider investing in Martini glasses and serving really nice cocktails."

  • "As New Brooklyn Cuisine veers dangerously towards being overplayed, I'm getting suspicious of any spot that smacks of that now familiar vibe. That said it still delivers creative dishes focused on local, craft ingredients and Rye is no exception. In fact Rye is a standout in the category. Be sure to visit Bar Below downstairs for great cocktails in a speakeasy environment. Great playlist the night we were there."
