A word from Rye and Thyme
We are proud to bring you Rye & Thyme, an American Tavern, in the space formerly occupied by The Monument Grill in the historic Wood Block Building of 1890 in downtown Leominster. The atmosphere at Rye & Thyme has all the charm of an old Tavern and features a new Raw Bar with a rotating selection of the freshest shellfish from local waters. Rye & Thyme also features a wood grill that will be our kitchen"s signature piece of cooking equipment. Wood Fired Pizzas, Steaks, Seafood, Chops and Burgers with the added flavor of smoke and wood. At Rye & Thyme we are pleased to focus on "American Made" Spirits with a particular focus on American Whiskey with an extensive list of Bourbon and Rye. Add in a craft approach to our featured cocktails to showcase our spirits, an all American wine and beer list to highlight the quality and craftsmanship being produced in the United States and you have a true American Tavern.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "good feel, some unusual food combinations, fun stuff to try. Great place!"

  • "Excellent seafood, very fresh. Food was even great for land-lovers. The entire meal was enjoyable. This is now one of our favorite restaurants."

  • "A small group headed out to dinner and a couple of them were running late. So we ordered the crab cake appetizer which is new on the menu. Lots of crab, very tasty, my only complaint was that it could have been a little hotter. Once everyone showed, we ordered entrees. I had the fish & chips. It is a huge piece of haddock and a generous portion of fries. Excellent! Two of the women had the chicken pot pie. Excellent comfort food and well prepared. A winner! Another lady had the salmon with dill and boldly proclaimed it was the best salmon she has ever had. Finally, our friend wanted steak au poivre, which is not a menu item, however the chef prepared one for him and he proclaimed it was perfect. Wait staff, Drew was also great."

  • "I love the Niche Group resturants, past (Block Five) and present (Bocada, Still N Stir/TPK, Mezcal). This particaular expereince similar to the other one I've had here, however was simply "OK". We had oyesters (Oysterville and Wellfleet) - they were fantastic. The seared tuna I had was 'OK' and the grilled asparagas - had seen a little too much flame."

  • "First, the service is great, the atmosphere is nice and for grown-ups, the noise level trends toward moderate, the menu selection is good, and it is one of the few "nice" restaurants in the area. Now for the buts - the food is quite salty over-all. While my husband's lamb was nicely seasoned, my Salmon in Dill Sauce (or something like that) was very salty. The sauce was salty, the roasted red peppers clearly came from a very salty can; the dish was very good in principle except that the salt was overpowering. Also, the crab cakes were good in principle, but the crumb coating was pale; it didn't appear to be baked or sautéed at all. Finally, I ordered a bottle of white wine that arrived with cool bottle but room temperature wine."

  • "Rye and Thyme has some exceptional food choices. The last time I went with my husband and friends; drinks, appetizers, and entries were thoroughly enjoyed by all. No complaints here, only praise for the whole experience."

  • "We were seated right away and had a nice table in the larger of the rooms which is a little loud, I think the room could be warmed up a little with some decorations that would cut down on the noise but very nice just the same. Most of the food was good, but the flank steak we got was tough."

  • "The food choices are great. It seems they have new dishes each time I go there. They mix it up enough to keep it interesting. Service was at whatever pace you want. We had a lot of attention from our server and they were not flustered by my continued requests to "come back" during my long romantic dinner with my wife. We'll go back, for sure."

  • "A little disappointed in brunch. I ordered something outside my comfort zone and you could tell the waffles and chicken were from frozen stock. Next time I'll try the pizza or raw bar! You can't go wrong with pizza! Ambiance and music were both fantastic! Will definitely be back!"

  • "Food was great, service was a little slow but the waiter was friendly and attentive. Dessert was great and the beer selection was great. Enjoyed myself"

  • "We have been here many times and this most recent visit didn't live up to our previous experiences. The service was pretty lackluster-- waiting up to 45 minutes for our appetizers because "the oyster shucker was too busy"? Wine, when ordered, took a few gentle nudges to the waiter to get delivered. Our favorite steak and fries were good but missing the pickled vegetables that were an interesting accompaniment in the past and the usually delicious thyme mustard was just okay. This is a great place that hopefully was just having an off-night. (The waiter was at any rate!)"

  • "We ate here Friday evening; the food was poorly prepared and it was so loud you could not have a conversation. Salads were drowning in their dressings and inedible. Very limited menu. Sitting in the side room, between the blaring music, high ceiling and crowded room you couldn't hear people on the other side of the booth. Do not recommend."

  • "My husband loved the duck duo special. I had the fish and chips, which was good, but nothing special. Huge portions. We would definitely come here again."

  • "Superb food in a very relaxed pub-like atmosphere. This is where foodies can go to eat without dressing up."

  • "We invited some friends we hadn't seen in a couple of years out to dinner. Rye and Thyme was the perfect spot. a couple of us had food allergies, but the menu was so accommodating and the staff more than willing to change out particular food items it made our reunion worthwhile. We love the place and plan to come back."

  • "The food is always perfect. Every time we go we try something different and we are never disappointed. Great specials too!"

  • "Not what I expected but would have been better if our reservation wasn't stuck down in the bar. The bar smelled pretty damp/moldy. The menu wasn't very good for valentines and the meal pricing for the meal deal didn't make sense."

  • "Entree took over 50 minutes from order time to table. Simple hanger steak served medium and salmon filet. Waitress came 30 minutes in and said it would only be a few more minutes, but we subsequently waited another 20 minutes. Food was so so. Witnessed three other patrons complain to restaurant management and receive $$ off of bill. We voiced our concerns about the service but received a simple "I'm sorry". Did not appear overly busy, and were serving a small menu. Regardless should've seen the demand coming (valentines day) and staffed accordingly. For a bill that came to $100 for two, I'd expect something a bit better than McDonalds service!"

  • "The service was slow, the pieces of beef in the beef and ale were small and the sauce was very salty. Two highlights were the shrimp cocktail appetizer and the L Town Manhatten. We won't be going back."

  • "The was my first time at Rye & Thyme and it was a good experience. There were two of us for brunch and upon arrival, we were greeted pleasantly and seated promptly. Decor was simple, clean, and thoughtful; it was obvious that the management and staff take pride in having nice facilities. Menu was small and diverse; a good sign that someone is thinking about what they are purchasing and serving. Servers were slightly overwhelmed with the seating of a couple large parties; slightly hindered the level of service that was provided for us but it wasn't intolerable. Food was prepared well and tasted good; more than adequate portion size. great drink selection + good food + good service + nice decor + good prices = worth the drive"

  • "This was by far the worst and most expensive mistake I have made in a long time. We got seated right by the kitchen because we look young and people assume we don't have money. Even though there was a booth available and we were both dressed for a night on the town. The salads we ordered were way to huge in portion. I got the pear salad and it was just a plate of baby arugla with not enough dressing. Then I got the Pork dish which came out so dry and burnt it was unbearable to eat. I did't complain because I did not want to make a scene. Will never return to this restaurant. It has sub-par food and chain-restaurant type waitstaff and fake ambiance. It likes high-end from the outside and is misleading. Price is way too high. Dissapointed."

  • "I was intrigued by the menu online and so made a reservation for my husband and I . We were seated at a table by the window and that should have been nice. Sadly, the party next to us was so loud, with cackling laughter and raucous behavior, that I had to ask for a different table. The hostess was polite and did move us to a better location. We ordered cocktails from their extensive list. I ordered the Bourbon Bramble. It was so full of crushed ice I had to ask the waiter to have it strained. What came back was a half glass of fairly tasteless liquid. Our food was interesting but not spectacular. The Osso Buco was overcooked. The sides were interesting and well prepared. The brownie dessert was tasty, but it wasn't what we ordrd"

  • "This location unfortunately is just not up to Niche hospitality standards. Niche owns several restaurants and they all serve high quality food. My husband had to convince me to try Rye & Thyme again. We previously have had disappointing experiences. They're just not consistent. Our app was great, meal was just okay, my filet was charred, veggies weren't all cooked and some were cold and dessert was great. For the prices you just expect a better overall experience."

  • "Okay, I'll admit that I'm a skeptic when it comes to local establishments, but Rye and Thyme cured me of that. The parking was a breeze, the host greeted us warmly, and our server was prompt and pleasant. Prix fixe was the order of the day which started with a spinach/blue cheese/balsamic/prosciutto salad, followed by a scallop cake w/coconut crust for my wife, and lobster bisque for me. Both were outstanding. The main course was a wonderfully presented beef tenderloin w/wonderful veggies and potato, with a final bread pudding treat for my wife and a strawberry cream for me. Mixed communication in the kitchen led to a poorly timed serving of the main course, but was promptly fixed by our server. Good food at a fair fare."

  • "The staff at Rye and Thyme definitely have their acts together --super attentive, friendly and considerate! We went for dinner on New Year's Eve and the food was just "good"....a very long wait in between courses, Even for a holiday. The scallop cake appetizer was very intriguing, but was soft and mushy and slightly cold in the center; the spinach salad we had beforehand was simple and blew the scallop cake right out of the water! The filet was cooked as ordered, and served with an ice cold blob of butter on top--the meat was tender and tasty. Our server could not have been more pleasant or accommodating! The host was on top of his game as well.... Just seems like they need a little help in the kitchen."

  • "The hamburger (not cheap at about $12) was probably the best in any restaurant anywhere, until our last visit. It's just an ordinary burger, not worth it. Service was as usual friendly. Still like the place but hope that they don't allow the food standards to drop."

  • "Disappointed there's no longer steak tartare. Hope they bring it back. The food and preparation has improved considerably. The tuna is the best! Order it no more than rare."

  • "The Rye and Thyme is a pleasure to have in the town of Leominster. The style and personality of the Rye and Thyme is a perfect fit for down town Leominster. The level of service and the quality of the food is outstanding. I've been there many times and have had a great experience each time! The food is full of flavor and plated very well. You can't get better oysters that are fresh and tasty for only one dollar. The entire team at the Rye and Thyme seems genuine and passionate about creating a great dinning experience for all to enjoy. The food is great and the price is wallet friendly for such high quality!!!Keep up the great work and thanks for giving us a taste of Boston right here in Leominster!!!!"

  • "Took my wife out for 30th anniversary. She said she hadn't had a good night out for a while. She still hasn't. Ambiance good, but that was it. Tenderloin (2 meals) were anything but tender, blackened steak was not real blackened steak, merely pan fried (2 meals). My steak was ordered rare, served medium well and barely warm. Not what we expected for the prices charged. Very sub par. Service was very slow, not understandable because it was not very busy. Liquors are ridiculously overpriced....I don't mind paying a high price if the meal was worth it. It wasn't....Very disappointed.. I prepared the same meal at home the following day the way Rye and Thyme should have prepared it. If you think you are upscale... you are not....."
