Diner Reviews
  • "we had the absolute best service by Shenie. Wanted window seating for 4th of July on short notice - done. Wanted to change order from one salad to another - no problemo. Focaccio bread was nice and warm for seared ahi salad. Steak was overcooked but tender; so she had it replaced without our asking. It was my birthday and she brought me an haupia brulee - ono! I ordered a bottle of red wine, she brought it in an ice bucket - wonderful. How good does it get! Mahalo!!"

  • "We always receive great service but, our server this time, Cassie - was outstanding!"

  • "The service was not very good on this visit. We have been several times and this was disappointing. Sunday evening is free kids meals with adult purchases so it is a good time to go with a family. The happy hour house red wine was decent. The happy hour pupus were mixed. The chicken and pork lettuce wraps were not good. The calamari was ample and delicious."

  • "Wonderful service by the hostess and wait staff. Great Waldorf and three bean salads. PONZU sauce for the KAJIKI was exceptional as were the green beans."

  • "Ryan's Grill is one of our very favorite places for a casual dinner with friends. The great selection of food and beverage means everyone can find something to suit their taste buds. Seating in the dining area is close enough to the bar to get a nice feeling of activity and sufficiently separated to allow for a sound level that suits conversation."

  • "The menu has changed since the last time I had gone. The changes are okay - with the happy hour menu. I am so glad they still kept the Jamaican Jerk Fries. The buffalo wings that I love have changed a little but they are still yummy. I was disappointed to find that the pot stickers are now deep fried. I miss that gyoza style and the shoyu based sauce. Other than that - things were still fun as we celebrated our wedding anniversary a day early."

  • "My experience was great. The service was excellent. The food was good. I highly recommend Ryan for a quite dinner for two or as a group."

  • "Ryan's Grill is well worthy of a great review. Everything I ordered for dinner had an interesting twist to it, and I mean that in a good way. The onion soup was great, not salty like many restaurants. The brandy and dry vermouth gave the soup a special flavor. The calamari was cooked to perfection and the Black Bean Aioli dipping sauce was unlike anything I've ever had. And finally, the ribs were some of the best I have ever had. The meat was very tender and the Guava-Tamarind glaze on the ribs was fantastic. If you are interested in having great food and are looking for something other than just another boring menu, Ryan's is for you."

  • "Great place only negative was my duck which isn't steamed anymore making it hard and chewy."

  • "My wife and I use to go every Friday for lunch and drinks. Then their food started coming out inconsistent, their service was always friendly. We just went for Father's day brunch, service was friendly and attentive. But their food was outstanding. Best locomoco and my wife's steak was great. Will be going back soon"

  • "Had lunch with a friend I hadn't seen in 10 years. The waiter had no problem with us spending 5 hours there catching up. I had the mango french toast. It was scrumptious!"

  • "Two families had an early Father's Day dinner and we loved the fish dishes and the presentation. Good service - wrapped all our left-overs nicely and was attentive but not overbearing."

  • "Busy night for me and my date. However, Ryan's was able to accommodate switching my dinner time around. It was crowded and loud but we could still talk to with other. Loved it, loved the food. Will definitely recommend to friends."

  • "They were under-staffed the evening we were there. Our server managed to take care of all the tables, efficiently, attentively, speedily. The friendly manager was attentive to our issues - even did not charge for my entree. Just wish the quality of the food matched the quality of service. But. . . fine for families and casual, non-special occasions. "

  • "It was sad from the moment we checked in with the hostess. The staff has poor listening skills. Although I mentioned we had a reservation and we wanted a late lunch; she escorted us to the bar. I questioned why the lunch area was not available; she stated she didn't know we wanted lunch. ???? As we were seated at the table, our waitress asks us to order (when clearly she just gave us the menu and we stated that we probably will order a bottle of wine) she stood there waiting for over 1 minutes just staring and waiting. I hate it when waitress/waiters do this. We ignored her and continued to read the wine list and narrowing down what we would be ordering and which wine would go best. Later she brings two "glasses" of red wine. ???"

  • "There were 9 of us cousins meeting to discuss a family reunion. Our server was Paul, from Australia. He was excellent! Attentive without being bothersome... accurate since we all received what we had ordered, very professional."

  • "I love Ryan's salads for lunch. The teens in our party would have liked more meat selections to choose from. Actually the adults too. No one likes fish. "

  • "Meaning to try this place for MONTHS and somehow I always end up going elsewhere. What a mistake that was as Ryan's is an AWESOME spot! Food is full of flavor and the range of options is vast. It's great to eat local-style food prepared in such a way where you don't feel disgusting afterwards. Lettuce wraps were the best I've had and I only wish the portion was larger. They give you probably 20 wraps but barely any chicken and pork! Prices good, service on point and overall an awesome spot that's just as good for dinner as it is happy hour!"

  • "First, the food was very good. The waiter was forgetful with requests several times. He was very nice but I do expect better. We have eaten here a few times before and had good service so we will be back again."

  • "We have been to Ryan's for dinner and have liked it. Their Sunday Brunch is extremely limited and does not change for a holiday. keep that in mind for things like Easter."

  • "Great for convenience and free parking after Easter service. It was the perfect place to gather and celebrate the morning. Service top notch from the hostess to the server and their team. Food appetizing and portions filling :)"

  • "We, like many of the diners, were on our way to the opening night of the Bruno Mars concert. The food came out quickly, and everything was prepared well. Ryan's was packed! One of our guests didn't like the salad dressing--the waiter had the entire salad remade and back at our table in less than five minutes. We will certainly dine there again!"

  • "Our group of 14 enjoyed our lunch at Ryan's Grill, on Friday, 4/11/14. Our server Brandis was very pleasant, served us quickly and our orders were accurate. She was very accommodating. I told her after our meal that we really enjoyed having her as our server. Eight of us ordered the Park View lunch, which was a great value and delicious."

  • "I took a few clients out to lunch but could not finish my presentation because it was freezing. Something was wrong with the A/C because it blew directly at us."

  • "I've been coming to Ryan's since the late 80s...have they been around that long?!? We were seated along the window, toward the lanai side of the restaurant. On this particular night, there were about 10-15 "flys" buzzing around the windows. We sat there as first the waiter, the other staff started to try & swat the flys around us. We ended up asking to switch tables...which was accommodated but they put us just a couple tables away so we could continue to witness swatting. Needless to say, not the best start to my daughters bday dinner..."

  • "Went here on a whim. It won't happen again. The food was not very good. Everything was overcooked, and had sat on the line until ice cold. My wife asked for some marinara sauce for her rock-hard super dry chicken, and when it arrived it was cold and tasted like tomato soup. Pizza tasted pre-made and very freezer-burned. There are better options around for the equivalent price range. In my opinion, look elsewhere."

  • "Hubby ordered the fresh island grilled fish which was Opah, and he enjoyed it very much. I ordered the sausage and roasted mushroom pizza which was tasty but chewy...I prefer crispy. As usual, the bar scene and surroundings were energetic and it was difficult to have a conversation between the two of us. Nonetheless, the food was good, prices reasonable, and if you don't mind trying to have a conversation by raising your voice a bit, above the noise of the surrounding groups, it's okay."

  • "I did not have prior "outstanding" experiences at Ryan's, so hesitated to return. I only returned because of their food credit rewards, which was a great incentive - thanks, really appreciated it! However, had a great experience. Servers Richard and Liz (training) were excellent and made our dining experience nice and relaxing. Island Grilled fish sandwich was done well; Loco Moco was tasty, although gravy a little on the sweet side. This experience changed my mind - I will return again in the future!"

  • "We've been to Ryan's several times and have almost always had a positive experience. This past Saturday, 3/22/14 was not one of those nights. Ryan's was particularly crowded, even for a Saturday night; however, the service was especially slow. It didn't seem like it was a kitchen issue because we often saw our food sitting ready at the counter. We were tempted to stand up and grab it ourselves. We think it was just our server. We could tell the other servers were trying to make up for his lack of ability by bringing out the food, but it still came out lukewarm since it had been sitting for awhile. We got there at 6:15pm and didn't leave til after 9pm. This may be a one time occurrence, but it makes us weary about returning."

  • "Met old friends to celebrate a birthday and had a wonderful fun time with delicious food and super good service by a new wait person Richard and his mentor Liz. Hope to return to see Richard as a full fledged wait person! He was very personable and helpful."

  • "We were disappointed in our food for dinner. But we come here often for their happy hour specials and we enjoy our appetizers then. I just wish they'd be more consistent with their food for dinner."

  • "Salmon was burnt; manager brought another piece of salmon, which was perfectly cooked. But the salmon doesn't seem to have much honey glaze. The ribs were so-so. Service was good."
