Diner Reviews
  • "Amazing food, service and all around experience. Worth every penny. Love the local aspect and inspiration of the food."

  • "Recently went to Rx for an anniversary dinner. It was a very lively atmosphere. Other than trying to be crammed into a 2-top that was wedged between other 2-tops so tightly that you could barely pull the chairs out, it was a nice night. I would not say this place is romantic. It was extremely loud, but the food was good and our server was excellent. Can't argue with a $10 corkage fee, either. Skip it if you're looking for quiet intimacy (Manna gets my vote for that), but we'll probably go back when we're more comfortably dressed and in the mood for dropping $$ on cocktails and good food."

  • "Loved the changing menu, based on what is fresh that day. Wonderful presentation and service. Everyone loved their choice on the menu. Excellent food and atmosphere off the beaten path, just a little ways from downtown."

  • "While the meal was good, majority of the menu had some pork influence. I would not recommend for vegetarians and non-pork eaters as the menu felt limiting for the non-pork eater in our group. Otherwise, all most everything we chose was good except for a dried out pork chop cooked to medium and the mac and cheese was missing flavor."

  • "Dined at this restaurant early evening this past Tuesday. The food was good. They serve locally grown food when possible. It probably would have been a little more "lively" experience later in the evening - but the service was EXCELLENT. Would dine at this restaurant again."

  • "As a Northerner I was a little skeptical about going to RX. The on line menu looked somewhat Southern...what with shrimp and grits. But I was literally blown away by the food. We started with the cheese plate which was so tasty. For my dinner I chose the hen wings...and I can't wait to go back and have them again. I shared them with my dinner partners and next time I'll keeping them all to myself. Outstanding!!! I tasted someone's shrimp and grits and it was delicious. I think the fish that night was Mahi and my husband thought was great. The waitress couldn't have been nicer. The chef was respectful to our comments. This will definitely be high on my list when we visit Wilmington again. Awesome."

  • "We were in Wilmington on a whim and chose Rx because of its location and generally positive reviews. Very impressed. Food was southern modern and packed full of flavor, portions generous, service was delightful, and the space was very comfortable. Next time I go to Wilmington, I'm going back. Seriously. Oh, and I thought the wine list though small was interesting and reasonably priced."

  • "My husband ordered the shrimp and grits and remarked they were out of this world. Also enjoyed the art which changes every few months and is for sale. This was our second time at RX and definitely will NOTt be our last! Yum!"

  • "The restaurant is awesome and while not located in the best part of town it is safe and you will love the food. They use local farmers as much as possible and everything is always fresh. No frozen food here! This is one of top 3 restaurants in Wilmington. Other two on my list, Manna and Pembrokes'. Cheers, Sid"

  • "Came here for Valentines Day and made another reservation as soon as we got home!"

  • "My only complaint was the lack of a good beer list. The wine list was good but no beer list. It's always confusing when there is no description of different microbrews. Aside of that I had no complaints. We will definitely be back."

  • "My third time at Rx and have never been disappointed. Love how the menu changes so there is always some new dish to try. Service was very attentive and friendly. Will definitely return."

  • "RX is a neighborhood gem! Great "Wilmington vibe" with an ecclectic mix of patrons. We celebrated my mother in law's 88th birthday with a guest list of 10 and the wait staff and kitchen didn't miss a beat. Food was off the charts and the menu crafty and diverse! Decor was somewhat rustic and understated but perfect for the venue (old neighborhood drug store). We just love the place; it was just what the doctor ordered. We'll be back with frequency!"

  • "This was our second visit and my wife's birthday choice. We were hosting two couples who had not been before. Everyone loved it. Our guests are all planning to return and introduce others to this find. There was lots of sharing and sampling among our crowd. Every dish was excellent and most outstanding. Creative and innovate menu using local fresh ingredients. Sticky toffee pudding was rated world-class by our group. Server was excellent and very knowledgeable. Place was full-make a reservation to avoid being disappointed. Perfect evening out with friends."

  • "My husband and I Tom a party of five here lat night and it was excellent. This place is a real find and their menu is amazing. The food is excellent, fit for foodies and you must try the pork belly over creamy grits with a fried egg and the Pigs Ears...incredible. The service was also excellent!"

  • "My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The menu was interesting and different. The food was excellent. The ambiance was very good but a little bit noisy. No complaints; it was a good place to dine."

  • "Best restaurant in Wilmington, hands down. Went for our anniversary which just so happily ended up being half price glass of wine night. Cheese plate was fantastic with local cheeses, fruit, and honey. I could have eaten 4 of these. "Swimming that morning" black bass with risotto was delicious. And blood orange pecan pie to end--yum! (though it would have been better warm). I love the ambience; small, cozy, full of locals. An absolute must for fine dining in wilmington, or even just grabbing a local beer!"

  • "Great restaurant! Delicious food, great bar selection and very attentive service!"

  • "Fine dining quality but in a more casual atmosphere. They source their ingredients locally so the quality and flavor of the meats and veggies is fantastic. This also allows for a variety in the menu as it changes with the seasons. I have enjoyed brunch a few times and finally made it in for dinner. Price is moderate but portion size and quality back up it!"

  • "We went there for Valentine's Day, she ordered the shrimp and grits, I ordered the pork chop. Both meals were very good, but the Pork chop was incredible. I like the decor, including the reclaimed wood tables. Delicious flavors with a southern twist. Highly recommend!"

  • "While our server Lisa was wonderful and attentive, out experienced was diminished right from the start when out favorite wine was on the list but they were out of stock. The manager brought an alternative to the table but it was exactly what we told the waitress we did not want. Then they were out of our next two choices also. That was the last we ever saw of the manager. Our waitress made a wine choice and we accepted only to find out it was a screw top wine. Not a great suggestion when you tried three times before to order the best wine on the list. All that aside, cheese platter was amazing, everything else just okay."

  • "We decided on RX as the place to celebrate my In-Laws 50th Anniversary and as always, RX delivered! Excellent food and the attentive staff made it yet another enjoyable night at what is becoming our "go to" for special occasions. Our server Rebecca was very informative in regard to the menu items and the local farms who supply RX with their products from produce to poultry, fish and meats. Complimentary champagne was presented to us as well which was a pleasant surprise. Most of all what I personally enjoyed was the perfect pace presented throughout the night. Never once did we feel rushed and I think this is true mark of an excellent staff."

  • "Delicious menu that is changed daily based on what chef can get from local farmers and fisherman. I came with a four other people and we all got something different but we all enjoyed our choices. I had the duck and it was AMAZING, best I've ever had. The butcher board is also a fun "snack" or appetizer to share with the table. I can't wait to go back!"

  • "our forth trip and first brunch. The food was uniformly delicious, with a couple to die for highlights (I'm talking about you, bacon cinnamon rolls). Our waitress was friendly and attentive, but I have to lower the marks for service because it was sloooow. Otherwise, yummy and we will be back."

  • "Restaurant was very nice and quiet, had a good atmosphere. Food was o.k., not as good as I had anticipated and a little overpriced. Nothing really stood out on the menu. Glad I made the efffert to try it, would not recommend."

  • "I was in from out of town and this place was recommended. We arrived for our reservation and were promptly seated at a booth. We were not acknowledged by any of the staff for 20 minutes. I finally had to get up from the table and walk over to the bar to order our drinks. A server came over after that and told us she was putting "fires" out at another table. We ordered dinner and I have to say the only difference between the grits appetizer and the shrimp and grits entree was the shrimp. It just seemed odd that you would put basically the same dish on your menu twice. My father's fish was absolutely delicious. The drinks were fanatastic and the playlist is one of the best I've heard in awhile. Overall, it was ok but the service needs work!!"

  • "The food here was amazing! My husband and I spent our anniversary here and ordered something from appetizers all the way through dessert! Absolutely everything was picture perfect and overly satisfied our palettes :) We will come back as often as we can get a babysitter!"

  • "Chicken fried egg salad was very unusual and a great combination of flavors. Flounder over risotto was outstanding as well. The menu will probably change but I would order the same thing again without hesitation. Was trying not to order dessert, but the housemade strudel ice cream won me over. Very nice wine and beer selection."

  • "This Wilmington gem is not to be missed. Just returned from Charleston where we ate at Tristan and Peninsula Grill and Rx stood up well to some pretty stiff competition. We had the the pork belly and potato bisque to start. The pork belly was tasty, though the combination with grits and eggs made me think more of breakfast than dinner. But some folks like that .... Have had the shrimp and grits here -- excellent. No loss this time. I had the duck entree. First, Rx knows how to cook collards -- perfect blend of vinegary and bitter with sweet from the bacon. Yum. And the duck portion was very generous -- two full leg/thighs - crispy and delicious. I confess that I ate the entire portion. Very satisfying. Nice selections of wine by the glass."

  • "One of my guests, visiting from Frankfurt, Germany, said of her meal at RX "...this is the best dining experience I've ever had in America!" It may have been just the company she was with ;-) but I think RX had everything to do with it. I love this place, too!"

  • "We dined on Friday 13th. Meal was excellent from presentation to taste. Waitress knowledge, easygoing and attentive. Husband's steak not cooked to requested well done. Not the best place for meat and potato kind of person. Overall our group of 4 very pleased with food and the experience."
