Diner Reviews
  • "The Shepard's Pie filled with seafood was amazing. The loved our salads as and wine selections as well. The asparagus with poached egg was boring - no flavor. The decor was kind of creepy - gold-coated cracked mirrors, lots of black, abstract movies playing in the bar, kind of weird - romantic for some, but not for us. Music too loud for our early dining time in a nearly empty dining room. On a positive note, if you go, you have to swing by the kitchen - it is the most amazing setting I've ever seen in a restaurant - very high tech. I liked the food lots, but probably wouldn't go back, considering the choices you have in Vegas."

  • "Found the Rx Boiler Room while in Vegas for the umpteenth time, searching for something new on OpenTable. What a gem!! We have passed by it during the day before, taken pictures of the cool steampunk entryway, and wondered what's inside. Oh my word, new favorite place! The food comes out quickly, and is AMAZING. Highly recommend the chicken pot pie nuggets and the duck lettuce wraps.(I don't even like duck, but could have easily ordered another, SO good!) They had some amazing live music: a jazz duo! You know the band is good when they stop and you wish they kept going!! The desserts were possibly the best part: fresh homemade cookies and milk (definitely plenty to share) and creamsicle creme brûlée. The servers' outfits are fun too!"

  • "My husband and I had our second opportunity to dine at RX Boiler Room. The drinks were as imaginative as our first visit. We tried the fleur beverage prepared tableside. Really interesting flavors. My husband had the pot pie. I'm sure it will be his choice again. It was just jammed with seafood. I had the sustainable special, a really fresh, light seafood. The only drawback of the evening was the pacing of the meal. We told the server we were headed to a show. Orders were taken, the specialty drink was mixed tableside and then we waited. And waited. And waited. It was 25 minutes and a friendly reminder before the salad arrived at the table. The entree followed about three minutes later. The salad was comped. I'd go back."

  • "It's a great concept with poor exacution. We went for the chicken pot pie nuggets which were sold out early Saturday evening. The service was great. Very polite and attentive although they have faith in customers as they leave nothing on the table for photos like the crystal skull. In a social media world everyone wants pictures."

  • "Unique food, great service and loved the ambiance!! My husband had the shrimp pasta and some of the pasta was even died black with squid ink. They make their own pasta and everything was fresh! I loved the variety of the menu and watching the other dishes brought out made you want to return to try them out."

  • "In from out of town, and had a great meal here. I had the buffalo burger, which was topped a little differently than the average burger and was quite good. The atmosphere was unique, with a medieval theme down to the copper menus and staff that were dressed and acted in character (but not over the top). Over all the place is well done, and is easy to get to by foot from Mandalay Bay and the Luxor."

  • "For the prices and his reputation, the $24 oysters, 6 of them were the size of dimes.., the duck wraps were OK, the buffalo burger was good. I am glad we tried the restaurant, it is just we won't be back."

  • "This was first time at this restaurant and were there for a small business meeting. We asked to be seated where it was more quiet as the music was quite loud. Even the more quiet area was loud. We asked our waiter if the restaurant would turn down the music in the room where we were seated. He turned it down immediately; however the volume control was for the entire restaurant, so it could not be turned down too much. Service and food were both great and would recommend this restaurant."

  • "I absolutely love RX Boiler Room at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The service was impeccable! Our server gave fantastic recommendations based on what we were in the mood for and his work enhanced our dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious. The restaurant had a very extensive drink list and many unusual and tasty cocktails. The atmosphere was relaxed, stylish, and relatively quiet but not too quiet. Conversation was easily heard yet we didn't feel like we were in a library. Great time had by all six of us. I will definitely go back!"

  • "During a 5-day stay in Vegas I had dinner here twice - it was that good. The lamb osso buco was phenomenal, as were the roasted brussel sprouts and the tiramisu. The bison burger and the guacamole were excellent. Highly recommended."

  • "The steam punk interior is refreshing and fun - as is the food! Everything was delicious - from the chicken pot pie nuggets to the steak to the mac & cheese (beyond rich) to the fresh hot chocolate chip & oatmeal raisin cookies, we loved it all. Attentive service - oh and when was the last time you heard The Smiths piped in at a restaurant? Not a cheap meal, but definitely worth the money. Highly recommend."

  • "I was just surfing through open table restaurants in Vegas, and I came across this gem. The atmosphere is amazing. Steampunk theme is perfect. Service was spectacular. The food. OH MY GOSH. We had the veal cheeks, inside out grilled cheese, and the Peking duck lettuce wraps. First time I ever had veal, and it was SPECTACULAR. So tender and juicy. Grilled cheese was interesting, but in a good way. Duck was great according to my husband. I'm not a duck fan. GO TO THIS PLACE!!!"

  • "I dined 2 years ago at the previous restaurant Rick Moonen had here and it was soooo classy and had an amazing atmosphere. Now it feels like a bordello! The staff greeting you at the door were dressed in bad taste! I was very surprised. It also seems much smaller than the previous one! I for one would never travel to that end of the strip again to go there!! It should have been left like it was and changed the menu!!!"

  • "I picked this restaurant to celebrate my 40th birthday because I really liked Celebrity Rick Moonen from the Master Chef show and I dig steampunk. Three of my best friends joined me. I wore a cute mini tophat. Freddy, our waiter, was so friendly and helpful. One of my friends is lactose intolerant and Freddy guided her to regular menu options, i.e., the Bacon Wrapped Bacon-N-Egg, that she went crazy over. There was live music: a saxophonist and a guitar. The cocktails were creative and tasty and there was an extensive craft beer and wine list. The food was very filling and the portions generous. The Buffalo Fried Oysters melted in my mouth. The Squid-E-O's were oddly fantastic. Unfortunately, we were so full we passed on dessert."

  • "I had the lamb, everyone else in my group had steak. All was exceptional. We started with cheese and meat and had various delicious veggies with our meal. All of them had a "twist", such as egg and cheese on the asparagus. Don't eat that way at home and it was a delicious change. They have live music (2 person acoustic) but you can easily have a conversation. It isn't distracting."

  • "I took a customer here for dinner. The restaurant is in the Mandalay Bay and is so nice. The deco was fabulous, very eclectic but rich. Our table was a little booth that at curtains at each side, very upscale. The service was great, and the food different and delicious. I would go back for sure my next trip to"

  • "We were looking for a place to eat before the cirque MJ show. Since we loved RM seafood, thought we'd try the boiler room since the menu looked appealing. Took advantage of the happy hour $2 oysters and cocktail specials and each ordered different items off the menu. Our food was excellent and our server and the staff were friendly and attentive. The only thing was that our buffalo burger was a little disappointing as it was. The cheese was overpowering when the burger was kept together as a whole. However, once we took it apart and made it more of an open faced sandwich, it was amazing. We're recommending this place I all our friends and plan on going back. And if you're looking for a good drink, smoked whiskey and cola was awesome."

  • "We were a group of seven and had a comfy private booth to sit in. We shared a bunch of small plates and some entrees. Everything we had was great - guacamole, tater tots, grilled cheese, mac and cheese, and more. The cookies and milk, for dessert, were amazing! Our server was great, everyone we encountered was wonderful, even Rick Moonen himself!"

  • "This restaurant is a great concept - - steam punk meets fine dining and the last time we ate here food was great and the place was packed. This time the restaurant was empty - we were the only table and the food was not very inspired - great concepts with no follow through. Pastrami sliders were full of fat and gristle, meat was served cool with cold buns. Squid-E-O's were bland and chewy although meatballs were excellent. The bacon and egg looked good but one bite made the entire thing disintegrate into a messy pool. Creme brulee was good but not special (for $9). The Harry B punch was delicious and the delivery was awesome. Rick Moonen is an awesome chef so we'll try this place again - but it was super disappointing."

  • "interesting architecture and stylish pretty servers don't hurt when mulling over the assortment of mixologist cocktails. The madhatter and the sazerac "iwth pizzaz" were stand outs. The menu on an ipad was a nice touch to understand beforehand just how the drink look before ordering."

  • "Zagat mentions RX among the ten hippiests restaurants in Las Vegas at the moment - perhaps it should be moved to the ten worse. Service was ok-ish, ambience nice and the music decent. The food... horrible, in tiny portions and excessively priced. I had the calamari with black ink and merguez (lamb sausages) as my main. The food was uncooked and the various ingridients did not link at all with each other - who knows how this combination should work! My dad had the shellfish shepherd's pie. There was no pie, little fish and a lot of potatoes, raw green pees and this entree as well had the size of an appetiser for "only" $34. Total disappointment - I would really do not recommend to anyone to go and eat there. Waste of money for bad food!!"

  • "Happy hour from 5-6pm with nice drink specials and tasty small plates was excellent. Dinner entree selection is somewhat limited but food quality good although portions small. Wine pricing was far too high. Glass of Cab ran $17 and was a small. All in all, while the food was good, more variety and simpler and less costly wine options would be welcome."

  • "There was a lot of thought and money put into the design of the interior...very detailed and extremely Steam Punk inspired. However, the servers were one step away from stupid. It seemed every question made sent them over the edge from a nerves standpoint. The menu is extremely limited and certainly inventive but pails in comparison to the decor of the place. What we ordered was good but I wouldn't go back to try anything else."

  • "We were initially attracted by a fun cocktail menu and loved the smoked whiskey and cola in a glass skull. I had their variation on a sazerac which was perfect and different. We mainly ate our way through the appetizers and split the barramundi which was awesome. I highly suggest the ONE BITE bacon and eggs Yes small but perfect. Not cheap but well done!"

  • "Finally was able to try this place out, had the tater tots, braised veal cheeks, barramundi, lamb osso bucco, asparagus, and charcuterie plate and buffalo oysters. I had a Rx Paloma which was amazing! It was a late dinner and it was a quiet night for a Friday. Everything was delicious and very shareable. Service was good and we able to have conversations with our waitress and servers :) would go there again! "

  • "Interesting steampunk decor, very attractive. Didn't test the wine list. Entrees were lamb osso buco (outstanding) and shellfish shepherd's pie (reportedly very good), roasted brussel sprouts were approved by those who like that particular vegetable. Service was very attentive, friendly and unobtrusive, but we were early. Don't know how they'd respond in a crowded restaurant."

  • "Came here for dinner the last night of my 6 day Vegas vacation. I did think the place was really fun, but I did feel that it was too expensive for what you get. You do need to feel like you are getting something for your money, and I did have a feeling that I was getting ripped off. The drinks are delicious, as is the food, but you don't get very much of either for a very expensive price. Maybe if they served a great bread basket, or an array of nuts on your table while your dining. I would rather eat at Mesa Grill where I feel like I just spent money on something GREAT. I do hope this place does well thought. Maybe I just didn't do a good job ordering. I was trying to do the cocktail small plate thing."

  • "We started with the bacon wrapped bacon and eggs, which is truly a SMALL bite. the items on the cracker would not be something you would think to pair, but plop the whole thing in your mouth at once and GOD DAM!! It just tingles every taste bud on your tongue in the right way. Then we got the Lamb Osso Bucco and the Veal Cheeks. They were both amazingly moist and tender creations that paired perfectly with everything on the plate."
