The servers were on top of everything, food came on time, salads were fresh, main course were cooked as ordered, and deserts were delicious. They even had a gift certificate for the Mom's afterwards. Don't bother ordering seafood/fillet combos with- shrimp, lobster etc. It was only okay. Better to order the NY steak or ribeye. The fillet in the trio special was a bit dry and did not taste like good steak. The cheese cake lacked texture and the ice cream has ice chunks. Overall, the restaurant seemed clean and the service was good. I got greedy this time and ordered a Cowboy Ribeye (basically a thick cut ribeye with the bone in) cooked medium rare. The sides were a loaded baked potato, broiled tomatoes, and mushrooms. My buddy ordered a regular ribeye. The steaks came out perfect. Tender, tasty and guilty-as-sin. No other restaurant can quite duplicate their flavor. I like Ruth's Chris steaks because they're unadulterated and they let their steaks stand on their own. The butter only enhances the flavor of the meat. For dessert, I had their bread pudding with whiskey sauce. Overall, a perfectly awesome meal. On the Open Table note I mentioned that it was our anniversary. The hostess, our waiter and even the general manager came over to congratulate us! The food was fantastic and the service was stellar. To top it all off, the waitress gave us our complimentary dessert of choice with Happy Anniversary written in caramel on the plate. A great experience to say the least. Strictly a very special occasion place for me. Still, of all the local steak places of this caliber it is the best. Particularly liked the big windows and open atmosphere. Other steak houses tend to be very dark with heavy furniture and decor. Knew it was very expensive going in, so no "sticker shock" when I looked at the prices. We ordered the porterhouse for 2 (~$85, I think). This could have fed four people who are not ravenous but it still would have been plenty. Steak was indescribably good. Ordered rarer than usual because we knew it was going to be tender, but goodness. What a steak. The broccoli gratin was also divine. Also had crab cakes. Very little breading/filler, so nearly all crab meat. Also delicious. I received a very yummy complimentary birthday dessert. Staff were so warm (without being cloying) and the manager checked on us at the end of our meal. A special meal. Both offered a choice between a couple of salads or soup, and then one of three entrees. Two set desserst were included. It was pretty busy for a Monday night but wasn't noisy. The service was excellent and the food, delicious. Probably a bit pricey for what you get, but the food was superb. We had all the usual suspects: medium rare filet mignon (outstanding), fresh asparagus, potatoes au gratin, wedge salad, cheesecake for dessert. Each and every item was spectacular and nothing came home with us.
Not a restaurant I could recommend for an everyday meal; but one to be saved and savored for a special occasion (in this case my birthday). Excellent recommendation was the 2008 Silver Oak cab ($102 for the bottle...a steal). It complimented the entire meal and made the night a truly memorable event. Because the restaurant is expensive, I have high expectations...this year, it was just a little "off" ... our server seemed distracted, and I was especially disappointed that she didn't remember I had specifically noted it was a birthday celebration.
