Ruth's Chris Steak House - Myrtle BeachExcellent foodI visit Myrtle Beach quite frequently in the summer and have eaten at many restaurants there. This time I decided to make reservations and go to Ruth's Chris. I have been to a Ruth's Chris before but it was my 40th birthday so we wanted somewhere memorable to go. From start to finish the service, wine, food and dessert were fabulous. We sat in the back part of the restaurant so we could see the waterway and the beautiful boats in the marina. The shell it was baked in was tasteless and doughy, very sorry we got that instead of cheesecake! It was a bit noisier than usual due to a group function that evening. The table accommodation as well as the quietly served birthday dessert that I requested was granted with perfection. The wait staff was excellent as was the food. We both had the petite filet prepared medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect celebratory evening. Be prepared to spend some money because it is way expensive and overpriced from what the food level was. Ambiance and view are great. I would save this restaurant for special occasions. Service was excellent- Kathryn our waitress was very attentive, professional and pleasant- she took the evening up a big notch. Two of us enjoyed the fillets with blue cheese crusting. Two had the tournedos with shrimp -one was a tough filet and the other was ordered rare and received medium. We should have complained but didn't want to ruin a Birthday dinner. Sides of broiled tomatoes, creamed spinach and onion rings were good. Great wine list and great martinis. Steaks were properly cooked but not quite the cut I would expect for $40+. Ruths Chris was a good place to dine when they offered the 4-course meal for $40-50. I ordered the mixed grill with a crab cake, filet, and chicken. The chicken was great, crab was burnt, filet was medium even though I asked for well done. The server was very attentive to the crab cake and on his own offered free dessert at the end of the meal when he noticed. They were so busy, I didn't want to complain on my own. The sides were great.
