  • "We had a 7pm reservation & after waiting 20 minutes sitting at our table & not seeing our waitress, we asked the receptionist if there was a problem. We waited about another five minutes until the waitress came over & took our drink order. My husband's soup was cold but since no one checked on us, there was not an opportunity to have it heated. Both of our steaks were delicious but this was over shadowed by the fact that wait staff found it necessary to slip between my husband's chair & the table next to us...constantly bumping into him. There was plenty of room to go around the table, however the wait staff chose not to take that option."

There was absolutely nothing that was "just okay". However, the bill seems excessive. I understand ordering everything a la carte, but this is a meal where, if it weren't for a gift card, it would have been unreasonable for me to justify what we spent for two people. After taking $100 off, we still paid more than what we normally spend on the two of us at other steak places. Very excellent place, especially to celebrate a special occasion, but make sure to bring your wallet!!"

  • "I was not impressed with anything. The food was o.k. but not outstanding. Definitely overpriced for the quality. Perhaps we're spoiled here in Madison with many local restaurants featuring better food, better fine dining atmosphere and better service. The atmosphere seemed quite artificial to us. Cookie cutter decor and our waiter seemed more like an actor than genuinely engaged with us. At least in Madison, take your dining dollars to a local restaurant for more ambiance and equal quality food at a better price."

  • "i had typically heard good things about rc so i tried it while up in the madison wi area; wouldn't rule it out again, but at home in chicago i will likely stick with gibsons or chop house etc seems a little better values avail overall & food just as good; i was glad we got to eat/sit at the pre-made reservation time (8:15pm) for 2. I was disappointed we weren't outright told not to expect a table any earlier (although we had called, drove over & arrived about an hour earlier because a change in our evening schedule). this coupled with that many other people seemed upset about their wait times who were there before us. if place was backed up , probably i should have been told that from the get go when we called. waitress was nice"

  • "My husband and I made reservations for a romantic post-Valentine's Day dinner. We were there on a Saturday night and the restaurant was so noisy we couldn't even talk. All we could hear were the conversations from the tables around us. And, the tables were so crammed into the space that there was no hope of any privacy at all. The tables in our area were sat side by side so it was almost like we were eating dinner with the couple next to us. It was awkward and uncomfortable. Very disappointing considering how expensive the meal is. The food was good, huge portions of the sides, and the servers were friendly, but overall, it was a very disappointing night."

My wife and I both ordered the Surf and Turf, but were disappointed that there were no plates to put the lobster tail shells (no room on the main plate). Our server was busy and not able to check-in with us as often as he should have. The place was packed on this special night (Valentine's Day) and the parking situation was horrible...we found a parking spot quite a ways away from the restaurant and had to navigate an icy parking lot (in extremely cold weather)...no valet parking, which would have been nice. All-in-all, the food made up for the short-comings noted above. We still love the place!"

The service was mediocre but I'm guessing it was because it was restaurant week (expecting lower tips, more diners, crabby customers, etc.). Bus boys cleared our plates immediately and our water glasses were always full. Manager stopped at our table to check on meal. Overall a great experience but the waitress got what she deserved, which wasn't a large tip."

The foyer was PACKED with people which made for loud and intrusive dining. The food was average at best. Our waitress was rude and offensive.   • "Went for Restaurant Week. It is fun to go there for Restaurant week. They serve the same size portions as normal and there is no skimping. The tenderloin is delicious. The Caesar Salad is generous. I had the berries for dessert, yummy. It's fun to sit in the bar and watch sports. The bar is comfortable. Just wish they would pour a bit larger glass of vine, they said it was 5 oz. Wish it could be 6!"

Everything about the meal at Ruth's Chris was excellent, the best steak I've ever had and cooked perfectly, Flemings meal was unremarkable, steak was over cooked, not seasoned at all and gristly. Service at Flemings felt very forced and rehearsed. At Ruth's the service felt natural and not pushy. For the kind of money both restaurants charge you expect a memorable experience. Got it at Ruth's Chris."

  • "We've heard it was great place for steak, since that's what they are known for! We wanted to try since we knew it was a higher priced place to eat. Since it was my birthday thought it was a good reason to go. We were not disappointed by any means. Service was great food was great. We had our 18 month old boy with us and he was very well behaved and staff was very accommodating with him as well. We will go back again!!"

  • "We got to Ruth's Chris several times a month. We get excellent personal service and the food is fabulous! The manager always makes a point to stop by the table and speak to us. We enjoy having a family celebrations (birthdays and anniversaries) there. They make it extra special nice with little touches added to make it a truly nice evening. The ambience of the restaurant adds to the pleasurable dining experience! I highly recommend Ruth's Chris."

The steaks are always perfectly done and the side dishes nicely complement them. Save room for dessert because there always seems to be something on the dessert menu that beckons. Try the banana cream pie. Overall, we know that when we go to Ruth's Chris we can count on a solid steakhouse experience."

  • "This was our first time dinning at Ruth's Chris; it did not disappoint. We had a giftcard we were saving for a special occasion and my husband's birthday was just that! We made reservations through Open Table and I made a note that it was my husband's birthday. We were taken to a perfect booth that was sprinkled with "Happy Birthday" confetti, such a nice touch. Our waiter was excellent, being our first time, he gave us a short history of the restaurant and walked us through the menu. We both had steak, mine was the petite medallion topped with shrimp -amazing! For sides we had french fries and broiled tomatoes with sugar WOW! For dessert we had the creme brûlée, best I've had. It was a great experience, pricey, but worth it."
