  • "Everything we had with the exception of the Filet was very good. Both Filet's tasted odd. They were both sent back. The waiter was nice enough about it, however the manager was very curt. Both Filet's were taken off the bill, we were offered replacements, but we turned that down. We did get desserts, which were very good. Our Rib eye's were also very good."

  • "We dine here at least once a month. Food and service is usually very good, but on this occasion service was inadequate and so was the food. The rib eye was overdone - Ordered MR, got Medium. This is the second time this has happened in one month. Surprising for such a great steak house that prides themselves on prime beef and cooking it at the perfect temperature. Server took 10 min to approach the table to greet us. Cocktails took another 12 minutes to receive. I asked server Doug how the fresh catch was prepared and he said, Chinese style - I said perfect. When the fish arrived, it was overcooked and served on mashed potatoes with a caper sauce. It was gross. The server said "Oh they changed the presentation"."

  • "We chose to sit outside on the verandah in spite of the windy evening. The staff were all lovely. They offered to move us inside whenever we chose but we persisted and were rewarded by calmness and entertainment in the courtyard below. Warm crusty rolls, whipped butter,and oysters Rockefeller were delicious. We three all had the filet steak. This steak cannot be beat. It was done to perfection, flavourful and the most tender ever. Husband had the one pound potatoe heaped with sour cream , creamed spinach delicious, and I ordered mushrooms. Amazing dinner. Ample servings to share the spinach and mushrooms. We all had warm whiskey sauce bread pudding al amode. Wonderful. Hats off to Chef Darcy. Exceptional all the way."

  • "We are frequent visitors to Ruth's Chris restaurants. When we got to the restaurant, we were told that they do not accept reservations in the bar area as we requested. I asked why they did not email us back and tell us. They said they don't do that. Anyway, we said we would just have a drink at the bar and then go to our reserved table. There were two bartenders, a woman and a man. We asked for two glasses of wine. The man said he would get us wine. After quite some time we placed a second request with the woman. More time passed and she finally brought us the wine. Time from arriving at the bar until time we received drinks: 21 minutes. Granted at 6:00 they were in the middle of their Happy Hour, but even so......"

  • "When I entered and received a warm welcome and "happy birthday" greeting from the hostess, I knew I was in for a great dinner out. Each member of the service team that attended to my husband and I during the night were so nice and genuine. The food was exceptional and wine was great! Our waiter, Doug, was fantastic and I was so surprised to see him drop off a special birthday card (hand written). I would ask for Doug again when we return next time. It was a fabulous night and Ruth's Chris really made my birthday special."

  • "You definitely get a ton for the happy hour pricing. The salad was big, the steak was humongous, and with the sides and bread, we didn't even want dessert. The Caesar was standard. The mushrooms were not very good. They tasted like they were from a can and had a dirty flavor. The steak was huge, but slightly tough, supermarket quality. I wasn't a huge fan of the presentation--butter splattering everywhere- but I guess that's their thing. The steak knife was barely sharp enough to labor through the meat. The potatoes tasted like the instant kind. The ice cream was reminiscent of Breyers brand. We had gift cards, so we had a great time, but I wouldn't pay full price for the fare. Rather go to Merrimans or Roys if I'm dropping that much money."

We had a reservation and showed up a little late, but it was no problem-we were seated immediately even tho it was obvious they were expecting a larger party in the dining room- thanks for a fun night"

  • "We had another great meal. The service is always good. I have to say, Katie-Belle is one of their best servers. Her service is impeccable and attentive. My husband's steak was not done to proper doneness. The server Tom never called back to see how our dinner was until we were almost done, but the manager did stop by and we mentioned the stead was not done to a MR. He immediately brought my husband another glass of wine with his compliments. He apologized about the steak and asked if he could fire another one. My husband declined to cook another steak. Overall, the dinner was great. The banana cream pie's crust was extremely hard, but the filling and the bananas were delicious."

  • "Love the reduced prices during happy hour (Big Island). Ruth Chris in Lahaina does not do this. When weather is appropriate, eat outside, because you can't beat Hawaii air. On polynesian review night in the Mauna Lani Shop area, definitely eat outside by railing for a fabulous view of the show. Steaks are always prepared as requested. Chocolate with brownie bites ice cream is delicious. Can't beat the creamy spinach."

They still have the "happy hour", which not all the islands do (like the Ruth Chris in Lahaina). We "locals" appreciate that. As a result, the restaurant was full at 6 pm. Love the Big Island Ruth Chris.."

  • "We had a great time at this Ruth's Chris Restaurant. Everything was perfect except for the patrons seated at a table adjacent to us. It was a part of 7-8, a young, up and coming group. They was loud and obnoxious (lots of swearing and cuss words). I've heard it all before and OK for a Bar & Grille, Ruby Tuesday's or Chili's but not for Ruth's Chris. The manager and waitstaff just walked right pass without saying a word to the party. A female patron seated behind us went up to the party to ask them to refrain from their vulgar language and loudness with no avail. Manager should have re-seated them in an area less disruptive to the restaurant and patrons."

  • "Another great meal! Katie-Belle is a fantastic server. Very Attentive, but not overwhelming. She's efficient and effective. My opakapaka entree was over cooked and the fish was hard. But sometimes you overlook these things. The restaurant was busy for a Sunday night. Over 3/4 of the restaurant was full at 5:45pm. The banana cream pie is always a winner! It is their best dessert. The Honolulu Ruth's needs to take lessons in service from the Mauna Lani Team."

  • "After 5 visits during 2012-13 for birthdays & anniversaries, Ruth's Chris-Mauna Lani has yet to disappoint in any respect, category or food selection. From entry to exit, all wait staff have been friendly, efficient, and timely. On this Dec. 30 visit, the filets were melt-in-mouth good & cooked perfectly medium rare as ordered. Since steaks have been only entree' ordered to date, can't speak for other menu entrees; but most pupus have been tried as well as several desserts and all were good enuf to be re-ordered on future visits."

  • "I frequent Ruth Steakhouse in Seattle and Bellevue and have always had wonderful experience. Since I was in Hawaii I looked for one and found one on Kona and thought lets travel an hour from the hotel and eat out. I was not impressed from the beginning. It was the middle of the week and they acted like they were so busy. We had one waiter for outside dining with two other tables of four and two. The waiter never told us the specials and was not attentive at all. I was not impressed with the food as it was not up to the regular ruth I usually see. When I pay for the experience I expect some sort of standard that Seattle has set for us, but this was not up to standards of any kind and was truly disappointed. I will not be back."
