Ruth's Chris Steak House - IrvineMemorable Anniversary DinnerAbsoletely 5* service with John! Food was very good; but not outstanding, which it should have been for the price paid. Good, warm, bread (but not outstanding), good spinach, goat cheese salad (but I've had better at much less expensive restaurants). Steak and lobster were very good though. I'd give them a 4 star. (I reserve 5-star for Mortons). Dessert was only a 2-star. (We ordered a four-course meal off the pre-fixe menu. I had steak and lobster for $52.95 and my husband had steak and shrimp for a little less.) We both had cocktails and capaccino. I had a glass of wine as well. Our total bill was $177 I think. Everyone enjoyed their respective meal and we even had left-overs to enjoy. Service was VERY attentive and despite how crowded the restaurant was (we went for Mother's Day lunch), the food came out quickly. Everything was awesome as usual with the appy's. Then out steaks came out and both of them were over cooked. When I called the waitress over, her first answer was "Well you did ask for Well Done".
The steak was almost a hockey puck it was so well done...
BUT THEN A fantastic lady SWOOPED in at EXACTLY the right moment before the young waitress could ruin our dinner, took up the plates immediately, apologized and had fresh ones made up perfectly just a few minutes later.
If I were going to open a restaurant, THIS is who I would pick #1 on MY team. SHE CARES! I was so impressed with the level on care and the perfect responses she gave to guests. Still a bit pricey - but every bit worth it for a special occasion. You can walk away with lunch for under $120 for 2 with the works (no alcohol). Given that the view in Irvine is just tapestry inside a shopping mall the service was fabulous and the food was fantastic!!! We ordered the prixe fix Ruth's Chris Classics (one 16 oz ribeye, the other chilean seabass) along with creamed spinach, green bean casserole and an extra side--mushroom risotto with lobster. The ribeye was tender, juicy and flavorful. The Chilean Sea Bass was decadently delicate; it didn't need the vegetables that came with it! Plenty of food, but we surprisingly cleaned our plates! The dessert cheesecake was good, even better were the pecan clusters in dark chocolate. All the staff that delivered our dishes, filled our water glasses, bussed our table, and checked in on us, especially Karen E., our waitress, provided excellent service... and Karen was very entertaining to boot! The place is super classy without being pretentious. The petite filet was so tender that it felt like it melted in my mouth and the sides (brussel sprouts and sweet potato casserole) were equally as tasty and delectable.
