  • "We were there to celebrate a special occasion and were looking forward to exemplary service and a perfect steak. The food was OK at best. The bread was hard as rock. We could actually hit it on the table. When we asked for fresh bread, we received it, but not until 45 seconds before our entrees and our server mentioned three times that he hoped we liked it because "he baked it himself". One steak was perfect, one was the wrong temperature. The succotash was OK- nothing wrong with it other than it was almost cold. The au gratin potatoes were still cold in the center of the dish, leading us to feel like this was a frozen, pre-portioned side that had been reheated improperly. The server had no business in a fine dining restaurant."

The asparagus was not something that we would order again, no taste, and not cooked to our preference. The other food was so good that we would not dare complain about the asparagus. An enjoyable evening by all!"

  • "My husband & I shared the porterhouse for 2 and thought we won't finish it.. it was sooo good we couldn't stay away from it. We added the blue cheese crust and it was just mmm. It was perfectly cooked (med rare) and was served on very hot platter. My daughter got the veal tbone and loved it--- I mentioned in my reservation that it was my husbands birthday. They served us a slice of cheesecake w/ a candle for my husband (free of charge). That was a nice touch! Their food is always great BUT ITS REALLY THEIR SERVICE THAT MAKE US COME BACK FOR MORE!"

  • "I REALLY wish I had another waiter. Darryl seemed to be annoyed, sort of the service I've received when the waiter thinks that a one person table isn't worth it. He was too casual, uninterested, as if he was ready to leave and I was holding him up. My first experience, however, was what made me come back in the first place. It seemed like everyone rolled out the red carpet for me. This time, not even close. This time, my food wasn't as good. I don't know if it's because it was late and restaurant week, but my food didn't seem fresh, it seemed precooked. My chicken was DRY, too spicy and burnt. My gumbo was flavorless. I didn't voice this while I was there because I already felt like a bother, I just wanted to pay and leave. "

  • "My Wife & I love eating here, it is very hard to find another place that delivers as good a steak and also excellent, attentive service. Definitely a place for special occasions but in this case, you most certainly get what you pay for! The fillet is simply superb, and every starter / side / dessert and even the coffee is also top notch. Great wine & drinks list as well. Did I mention the amazing service? Really, what is not to like! (aside from other diners in the room shouting at the top of their lungs so everyone else can hear their conversation as well - but that was not Ruth's Chris' fault, some people just have no class)"

  • "Our dinner at Ruth's Chris was perfect. Our meal was amazing. We tried the seafood gumbo and blue cheese and apple salad and then ordered the filet. As always, everything was cooked perfectly. We finished up with dessert (Chocolate Sin Cake!!) and coffee and had a really relaxing time. Our waiters were fun, polite and friendly and made our evening very special. We will be sure to take advantage of restaurant week again next year and plan to dine again at Ruth's Chris more often."

She ordered a vegatable plate and the waiter returned and said that steak fries were not available on vegatable plate but all the other potato sides were. Kind of strange and also cheap..But other than that were were pleased.."

  • "I've been here a few times and it never disappoints. I wanted to see how their Triangle Resturant Menu was and I was pleased with the selection. The 4oz filet was plenty with the other two courses. It would have been nice to have a side included, we ended up spending more to have a veggie with our meal. Tomil was a great waiter; very attentive and wonderful personality. "

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed the sizzling scallop appetizer, the petite filet and ribeye, cooked perfectly medium rare, and the mushrooms are a must have. Also, the Caesar salad was delicious. We really enjoyed the Malbec, but I can't remember what bottle we ordered. The service wasn't perfect, but it was nothing to really complain about. And we've been to this restaurant about 20 other times, and this is the first time the service wasn't pretty perfect. So this will not keep us from returning. The place is great!"

  • "Due to graduations the restaurant was very busy and appeared to expand into a banquet area. The tables were not very nice and the ambience was poor. They tried to make it nice but it was disappointing to go to such a nice place and sit in what seemed like a hotel ballroom."

  • "Ruth's Chris is not your everyday steakhouse! It's more of a special occasion kind of restaurant where the low lights and quiet lend to a romantic celebration. We, however, were there to celebrate a college graduation and Mother's Day all rolled into one. The six of us had a wonderful steak meal that was hot and delicious....and when I say hot, I mean hot. The plates come out hot and the steak is still sizzling when it arrives at your table. Our waiters were attentive and helpful in determining how many sides to get for the number of people as well as to keep our water glasses filled without ever running dry. A great place to dine, but it is pricey so consider it for a special occasion."

  • "We are used to having excellent service and food at Ruth Chris. This experience was the worse that we have had. Though we had a reservation, we had to wait 10 minutes. The salads were excellent. The waiters kept our glasses filled. My son ordered a lettuce wedge without blue cheese but with balsamic dressing as his entree.when it came it was full blue cheese-had to be sent back. My son could eat very little on the menu. My husband's steak was over cooked. My steak and my daughters shrimp were great. After the food was on the table, the server didn't return. My husband had to go to the front desk so we could get the server to return with the bill. We know it is graduation time but this was not representative of Ruth Chris."

  • "We ordered 5 entrees and 3 side dishes and a bottle of wine. Our entrees arrived. Ten to fifteen minutes later we had to ask for our sides. Problem was we couldn't find our waiter and when we saw him, he didn't look our way. Finally another waiter sent him over. By then our entrees were cold. He came back with one of the sides wrong and the other one cold. One of our sides was asparagus with hollandaise. The first time it arrived it seemed like it was right out of the fridge. When he corrected it he kept warning us that the plate was VERY hot. I think they just put the vegetables onto a hot plate to cook them. It was not at all steamed or soft. It was warm this time but still raw. Very poor showing Ruth Chris for the price! "

  • "I was bring my boyfriend here for his birthday, when we arrived the host greeted us and told him Happy Birthday, they put rose petals on the table, which I thought was a nice touch. Our server was knowledgable and very friendly, the whole evening went very well, the low lighting made it romantic. Th food was delicious, I have absolutely no complaints, bravo!"

  • "The crabmeat cocktail was outstanding! The oysters were delicious but whoever opened them needs more practice because there were many pieces of shell in them which was disappointing. They had a wonderful children's menu with a great selection of entrees. We had filets & strip steaks & they were all cooked to perfection & wonderful. The sides are big & are easily shared. A nice cocktail menu & the house wines were very nice. Dessert menu was well rounded & a nice selection of after dinner coffees. We would definitely return."

  • "I took my mother to Ruth's Chris for her birthday. The whole experience was terrific. They started by putting rose petals on the table for her. We started wtih a cocktail-they had a great list! Mark was our server and also happened to be a sommelier. He did an outstanding job of helping us to pair great wine with our meals. Desserts were fantastic, and again were house made. Serivce is incredibly attentive and personable, but not smothering. I would highly recommend this particular location!"

  • "We had very good food and a very pleasant (but chatty) waitress. The prices, though, make this a restaurant to only be patronized for special occasions, unless like most of the people in the room you're on an expense account. We spent abut four or five times what meals just as good cost us in other local (and excellent) restaurants. In a foodie town like Durham there are several alternatives with less risk of a heart attack when the bill shows up, but equally excellent (or even better) food. We skipped wine - they charge five times what I can get the same bottle for elsewhere."

  • "They tried to accommodate a larger crowd for Valentines by putting out small round tables throughout the restaurant creating a crowded not so romantic atmosphere. My table was next to the lobby with people standing next to our table. The waiters were confused due to the additional tables and the orders were delivered to to wrong tables. Our food was delivered with no bread or utensils. We had to request both."
