Diner Reviews
  • "Food was excellent, as always. Chopped salad was outstanding and a bit different from what you get elsewhere. Steaks were perfectly prepared, a particular talent of Ruth's Chris that is not as consistent elsewhere. The bone-in sirloin was huge, and the bone-in filets were terrific. The restaurant fell off slightly for the dessert course, not because they weren't extremely good, but because there was an inexplicable gap in service from finishing our main corse to getting our desserts. Oddly, our otherwise excellent waiter brought my wife a special birthday dessert before even asking if anyone wanted dessert or coffee, all of which came a good 15-20 minutes later."

  • "The food was fantastic as was the service, but be careful which room you get seated. Some of the rooms are small and intimate, others are larger and have a more vibrant atmosphere."

  • "Great choice of steaks. And if you don't want beef they have other options. Only 1 veggie option though"

  • "Pete was our waiter and he was very fun and great service. Although the plates were extremely hot when placed on our table, he made sure we don't touch them. The filet was phenomenon, very juicy and tender with a little crisp on the outside. The mash potatoes were delicious too. Went here for restaurant week and there were quite a lot of people for lunch."

  • "I like to save Ruth's for special occasions. The food is excellent at any of their locations but it is not everyday faire. The Ruth's Chris experience is something to be anticated, not taken for granted."

  • "I've had much better experiences at Ruth's Chris than this past experience. The french dip sandwich was so overly salty that I didn't want to eat it. I thought it was just the au jus, but even without the dip, it was so heavily salted it was terrible."

  • "The food and service were great. I saw a lunch menu with the regular prices and I was actually surprised. For a treat once in a while or special occassion, I think its resonable."

  • "Other great meal, when ever I have out of town guests, I always take them to Ruth's Chris. The food, drinks and service is always top notch. Plus the history of the building and the surrounding grounds always amaze my guest,"

  • "All Restaurant Week means to me is another visit to Ruth's Chris. I have visited Ruth's for an occasional dinner, but when it's restaurant week it's a must for me. I am addicted to their delicious filet mignon with the blue cheese crust!"

  • "Each restaurant week myself, family and some friends go to some restaurants we always dine at and try some new ones. Ruth's Chris is a restaurant we go to even when it is not restaurant week. Fine dining is awesome. So far this restaurant week we have been to three, one other regular--awesome/ one new --- very good but probably not going back and Ruth's Chris and I am not sure I'm going back for restaurant week or on a regular day. This Friday I will be dining at the AWESOME restaurant noted above because it is perfect!!!"

  • "I've been RC quite a few times since it opened andI have also been to make other steak houses. That being said, RC's steak is the best, their filet melts in you mouth like no other. Is it pricey, yes but so aren't the others steak houses but if you want the best you have to pay for it. If you don't want to spend as much, try Jimmy's steak house in arlington. If you want the best in boston, above capital grill and delfrisco's then RC is the way to go."

  • "From the moment you enter until the moment you leave, it's a memorable experience. Atmosphere. food and servers are outstanding. Beef is the best and wonder how vegetables can be so mouth-watering good! We introduced yet another couple to this special restaurant and they will return and so shall we!"

  • "This was a classy place. The food was very good, but not worth the price. The portions were small as well."

  • "I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for romantic evenings. If you're a steak and wine lover, this is the place for you! Plus, with a location like the Old Town City Hall, you can't but love the ambiance this place gives off."

  • "This was my first time at the Ruth Chris in Boston. The food was great our waitress was friendly and one of the better waiter/waitresses I have had. Highly reccomended"

  • "The food was amazing, I had the filet with blue cheese crust which was cooked to perfection. My only complaints would be the mashed potatoes they were more of a puree than traditional mashed potatoes and it was quite loud in the dinning room. It was almost like you had to yell so the other person could here you. Our waiter was great, sugguestions were spot on. Overall the experience was excellent! My friends and I will definitely be back again!"

  • "I have dined at Ruth Chris several times. My husband and I had a romantic dinner, I spent last week with my daughter for restaurant week (she had never dined there), I have had lunch with friends and we had a special dinner with family to name a few. I have never been disappointed with my meal and the staff is outstanding. If you are looking for a gem in Boston, Ruth Chris is it!"

  • "During restaurant week we take advantage of the prices to sample steak places that are normally too expensive. Of all the places we went Ruth's Chris was by far our favorite. Next time we are only going to Ruth's Chris!"

  • "First time dining at Ruth's Chris steak and I was very I impressed and delighted with the whole experience. First off - we were about an hour late after being stuck in traffic due to the horrific fire that claimed two of Boston's finest Fireman. The staff we very understanding and were able to seat us right away. Our waiter, Andre was so knowledgeable, personable and engaging. Our meal was delicious. The best filet and Caribbean lobster tail I have ever had. The site of the old Boston city hall was amazing, rich with history and architectural design. Truly enjoyed our first time dining here."

  • "Food and service great! Watch where you get seated We were basically in a very busy walkway, which spoiled the evening Manager was very attentive when we raised concerns after dinner."

  • "Their food is amazing! Their steak is the best I have ever eaten in my life! However, it's definitely not a place you can go everyday(unless you have the mean to!). I also, really like the settings!"

  • "The food was outstanding ! Our waitress was great. The hostess was a disappointment. She was rude and unfriendly. We almost left . Glad we didn't thought . It was a great night."

  • "My friend and I went to Ruth's Chris for Restaurant Week and it was very good. We waited only 3 minutes to be seated. The room we were seated in had 4 other tables, it was very busy but our waiter did a fine job taking time to explain the items listed, asking how we wanted our food cooked, making sure we had ice cold water and bringing anything additional if needed. We had the Steakhouse Salad which was very good, the Filet Mignon, garlic potatoes, and warm bread pudding with whiskey sauce. Our lunch was very tasty it was good and hot, the mashed potatoes were fluffy and creamy and the filet was tender and juicy. This was my second time there and it was very close in experience to my first dinner visit. We would definitely do it again!"

  • "Had a fabulous dining experience. We ordered the tenderloin Oscar and the 12 ounce sirloin and both were the best we've had anywhere. The side dishes were delicious and the dessert (bread pudding) was just enough and a wonderful end to a perfect dinner. They have a great wine selection as well. Service was great. The only drawback for us was that the bar was so crowded that we had to stand with our cocktails, so we opted to be seated at our dinner table after a few minutes. We highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "Wonderful service, steak perfect, great salad and a surprise birthday presentation. The place was very busy and we waited about 20 minutes past our reservation time. The waiting area was cold, crowded and noisy, dining area quiet. But the wait was worth it. All-in-all, a wonderful experience. Loved the bread pudding, too."

  • "Portion of salmon was a little small but good quality food. The building is beautiful with history and ambiance. The valet could have been better for pick-up, but drop off was great. The table bread could have been cut and more bread choice would have been nice."

  • "Went for restaurant week with high hopes of a great meal. My boyfriend and I have been to most of the nicer steak houses in the city- Abe and Louie's, Del Friscos, Capital Grill, Mooo- and were disappointed in the food and service compared to them. The menu for restaurant week was enticing, but my filet was chewy and tough, the bread seemed as though it came from a supermarket (hardly home-made tasting, interesting, or even warm), and the dessert was over cooked bread pudding. I had heard good things about the chain, but was hardly satisfied. Maybe we caught them on an off night or it was just our table who received lack-luster good, but with all of the other consistently great options I don't think I would take the risk of trying again."

  • "This was my first time there and for restaurant week it was amazing! The food was outstanding and for the price of restaurant week it was truly worth it! Our waiter (Pete) was also very friendly and helpful, he was there when we needed him and also gave us space and wasn't overbearing. I will be returning to this restaurant. It was Great!"

  • "Have been here a couple of times now and had a wonderful dining experience. The steak is cooked to perfection. The sides are on the smaller side, so 2-3 to share is a must. The specialty martinis are made with premium ingredients and will give you a nice buzz before your dinner. Wine list is extensive as well. The service is superb. Can't say enough good things about it. Overall, a great time and a really nice place to eat for a special occasion."

  • "Booked lunch during restaurant week and had to wait 20 mins for our table. Not good when you're stepping out for a quick lunch. They seem entirely overwhelmed by the success of restaurant week and the staff on the front desk were visably stressed and looking harrassed. Not a best first impression to make. The restaurant itself is spread over two floors and seperating into several rooms so it can become a bit of a maze. Once seated, our servers were attentive and timely. The steak ws DELICIOUS! drenched in butter on a sizzling plate. Sides of garlic mash and creamed spinach were also excellent. I would certainly go back but not during restaurant week unless I was happy to have a leisurely wait before my meal"
