At Ruth's Chris, your steak is carefully selected from the finest USDA Prime beef available. It is aged to perfection and cut by hand at the restaurant. Then, your steak is broiled - to your exact order - at a searing 1800 degrees Fahrenheit to lock in the corn-fed flavor and natural juices. It's served hot and sizzling. In fact, you can actually hear your steak sizzling from across the room.

  • "Jennifer was our waitress she welcomed us in took us to our booth and layer rose petals on the table as we seated, right then I knew this was a very great start, she made the dinner very romantic for us. She was very knowledgeable about the types of steaks and helped us choose the rib eye. The steaks were cooked perfectly medium well the plates are served at 500 degrees to ensure you meal is hot to the last bite. Sides were asparagus, and potatoes Au gratin (fresh) is the word and perfectly cooked. Desert creme Brulee served with raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries "amazing taste" we also ordered a bottle of wine, very nice touch, Nivole Moscato D'Asti, Michele Chiarlo, 2007, Italy, I highly recommend. We look forward to going back."

  • "The food was excellent, but my wife got the feeling that our waiter was giving us the cold shoulder as we ordered the basics: a petit filet and a ribeye and we split a large potato and a very large house salad (very good) and she had a glass of wine. I didn't have wine because I as driving. However, the same waiter was very attentive to the next table because they ordered a fancy cocktails and wine and were spending large. I was marked as not being a big spender and treated as such, though the bill before tip was $132 for two."

  • "Food, service, ambience...this Ruth's Chris has it all. We were greeted by every server within 5 feet of us as we went to our seat and on our way out. Our incredible server, Jeannie, was on top of the progress of courses during our prix fixe Valentine'S Day dinner without being on top of us. The ribeye we selected was eye-wateringly perfect and the sides, rolls, salad, and desserts were nearly as good. I highly recommend the key lime pie martini, as well! We were very impressed and will be returning."

  • "We had a very disappointing dinner on Thursday, 2-13-14. Had reservations for 8:00 and were finally seated at 8:50 with another couple whom we just met and had been waiing for a table since 7:30. No food or drink offered as we waited and the hostess and waiter declined giving us a complimentary drink for our long wait. We ended up enjoying our dinner partners but it was not the romantic Valentines dinner we planned. The service was rushed and indifferent. The steak was overdone and looked as if it had been sitting on the pick-up line for a few minutes. The vegetables were very good, however. It will be a long time before we return to Ruth Chris Steak House."

  • "I eat at Ruth's Chris a few times a year, but this visit was disappointing. The Caesar salad came with almost white lettuce. The waiter forgot to come around to offer fresh cracked pepper. The steaks for 6 of us were all not seasoned. It was obviously an oversight or someone in the kitchen who did not know what they were doing. There was less sizzling butter on the plates than normal. A couple of the steaks were under prepared, but nothing too severe. The sides were all good. For a night when the restaurant was virtually empty, the time it took to dine was extremely long. It took right at 2 hours with us taking desserts to go."

  • "This Ruth's Chris is my favorite among all the superb steak houses in the San Antonio area. Easy parking, inviting interior, open but with semi segregated areas making intimate dining a pleasure or business discussions relatively private. The wait staff are attentive but not oppressive, and experienced John Petry is an absolute perfection in waiters. The wine is excellent and not prohibitive in expense or unnecessarily snobbish. California and Washington wines are appreciated. Needless to say, the prime steaks are done perfectly as are the salads and sides (the sweet potato casserole is stupendous). I recommend this restaurant over the downtown location. It was a perfect ending to our 51st wedding anniversary."

  • "Still very good after all of these years, but not quite at the top of the steakhouse pyramid. Service was impeccable, and the steaks were delicious, if not mind-blowing. One member of our party thought her ribeye was on the tough side, but she's used to filets and is not a particular steak aficionado. The only minor downside to our experience was a large family (all adults) at an adjacent table that got a little too loud...not vulgar or anything, but a little obstreperous for the venue."

  • "Went here for New Year's Eve and had a reservation for 9:30 pm that we early for and did not get seated until 45 minutes later so I was unclear of the reservation system or the need for a reservation as it seemed as if people just came ion off the street and their names were put in the queue. Did not like the fact that the front desk folks would not provide updates nor tell anyone what was going on with the delay. Even if there is a delay you should let everyone know so all the folks waiting aren't looking around and asking each other what is going on. Food was decent. Steak was overcooked and service was a little slow. I do not recommend this place for a holiday evening."

  • "I was expecting something more than just an average steak and sides and was sorely disappointed. We got stuck in one of the back rooms which felt tacky and outdated. I had the filet and lobster while my husband had the ribeye and his looked much better than mine. However, it was a hunk of meat on a plate with no room for sides which are served in large portions. The lobster texture was like rubber. The best part of the meal was the raspberry sorbet and the chocolate sin cake. Service was good but had to wait over 30 minutes for the credit card slip as they were having a problem with their machine. Recived an apology but no drink comp. Needless to say, we will not be returning. Bohanans is a much better option."

  • "We made a reservation but had to wait 45 minutes standing in the entrance. They do not have a place for people to sit or even a good method for telling customers that their table is ready. The hostess has to go around yelling people's names like in a taco stand, not very nice at all. Again, this is supposed to be a very classy restaurant with great customer service. It took them a long time to get our order and deliver the food. The waiters were overwhelmed so it was not their fault, they were nice. The food was so so, again, not worth the hype nor the cost $130 per person (avg.) There are far better restaurants like Kirby's and I dare compare Ruth's with Chili's!! the Food is pretty similar to Chili's which is crazy for what we paid for."

Slow service. So noisy that we had to shout to dinner guests to be heard. Expensive evening and definitely an off evening compared to other visits. Will try again next month to see if any improvement,"

  • "We were in town for my brother's graduation from the Air Force BMT and needed to find a restaurant open on Thanksgiving. We decided on Ruth's Chris b/c it was close to the airport and we've always loved Ruth's Chris. It was also a special occasion! Overall, the meal was great. I had the Ribeye steak and it was good, but I've got to say that it wasn't the best steak I've had at Ruth's Chris (or other steak houses). The cut of meat had much more gristle than what I'm used to getting at Ruth's Chris. Other than that, everything else was great."

  • "Had reservations; no wait. Waiter was prompt but just didn't kno how to present what Ruth Chris truly has to offer & unfamiliar w/menu. Food just wasn't up to Ruth Chris' standard..:turkey was sliced way too thin & sooo dry, gravy not enough & tasteless; mashed potatoes too swimming in butter, sweet potato casserole was the star of the meal, pumpkin cheesecake can't hold a candle t Cheesecake Factory or even Costco!! Sorry, I will not recommend this place or frequent it again."

  • "The food was not good at all, they tried to be gourmet but failed on the process, let's start with the fact that i had to wait 10 minutes to get the rest of my entree when everybody, had already their entree!. We had to stop the waiter serving other tables so he can take our empty plates from appetizers we had 10 min. Before. Very expensive for the quality, if it's expensive and offers a good service and the food it's good too, i don't mind but i felt like they ripped us off."

  • "Our meal was good. The ambience was not. We were put in a small room off to the left as you enter. There was a large group already in there. We were a table for two. Soon after we were seated another large group (6) were seated beside us. We had waiters bumping into us on both sides which was quite understandable because the area was a tight fit. That wasn't the problem. Because the noise level was high we had difficulty hearing each other and hearing our waiter which caused a few errors in our ordering. The food was good but not as enjoyable because of the noise level. When I go to a restaurant that is high dollar, I expect the ambience to compliment the food. In this case it did not. Our waiter was very apologetic."

  • "My husband and I and our son went to Ruth's Chris for our birthdays recently. We had a wonderful experience and were made to feel very special by every staff member we encountered. The service was impeccable. My husband and I had fillets, which were perfectly cooked and very tender, and the balsamic dressing on the salad was the best I've tasted. The side dishes were also delicious. The atmosphere was elegant but relaxed and we had a quiet, enjoyable evening."

  • "A little tacky when you see them take rose pettles out of a zip lock and then after your seated throw it on the table. This was a reservation, this should of been down prior to our arrival. Voodoo shrimp was salty, ruths chopped salad was excellent, steak was very salty, cooked perfect. They need to ease up on the salt."
