Ruth's Chris Steak House was founded May 1965 in New Orleans by Ruth Fertel.
Enjoy award-winning cuisine and gracious hospitality at Ruth's Chris Steak House and allow us to tempt you with a range of entrees from the finest USDA prime steaks, to the freshest seafood and poultry, imaginative side dishes, unforgettable desserts and an award winning wine list. At Ruth's Chris, your steak is carefully selected from the finest USDA Prime beef available. It is aged to perfection and cut by hand at the restaurant. Then, your steak is broiled - to your exact order - at a searing 1800 degrees Fahrenheit to lock in the corn-fed flavor and natural juices. It's served hot and sizzling. In fact, you can actually hear your steak sizzling from across the room.

Some on the most notable are the filet with blue cheese crust, pork chop with cherry Demi glaze, Chilean Sea bass, and the t bone. The sides are excellent and the bread pudding is absolutely the best! Love this place"

  • "Food is definitely overpriced, and the quality of food I had today - and the time before - not worth the money. Bread was cold and dry; the stuffed mushrooms dry and tasteless. The steaks we had were mediocre; the fries, average. The sampler dessert was okay, but again, I've had better at a lot cheaper price. I took a daughter for her birthday and we were both disappointed. The name Ruth Chris doesn't stand for what it used to anymore. Today's visit convinced me that it's time to say goodbye to Ruth Chris. I can recommend Kirby's and Fogo de Chao for wonderful dining experiences."

  • "Asked for quiet table and initially given loud small room. After moving tables ordered. Shrimp cocktail was nice although dressing on "greens" didn't go well with shrimp. Then meal came out too quickly. Only one steak appeared with sides, two had been ordered. Everything went back. Out came the two steaks, the original steak had been put back on grill and was now dry and well done. The second steak ordered medium rare came out medium well done. Back they went again. Finally two nice steaks and a mealy potato."

  • "I've been to Ruth Chris many times. This time the service was slow and the ambience is changing - becoming more casual and not so special. The stuffed mushrooms were mediocre at best; the strip steak not medium-well but dry and too charred, and the dessert samples were bland and nothing special. I've had better steaks, appetizers, and desserts at places such as Saltgrass and Texas Land and Cattle. This time Ruth Chris just seemed overpriced and overrated. I've had better times at cheaper places."

Favorites were the scallops appetizer (wonderful;will order double next visit!), ahi tuna, chilean sea bass entree and the delicious, creative pineapple bread pudding (left me wanting a second piece!)...and of course, the sizzling steaks! Sauteed mushroom side could use a bit of "oomph" (dare I suggest "more butter" or at least good evoo?). The Marine Corps veterans in our group SINCERELY appreciate Ruth's Chris generous salute!"

  • "I have dined here over 30 times and have always been very pleased. This was an exception. All in my party of four got their steak over-cooked and I was served spoiled meat. While they quickly replaced the steaks, and did a nice job on the second chance, there was no offer to make any adjustment, or even any offer to at least comp a dessert. Our total bill was $291. For that price I pretty much expect perfection. This did not occur. This restaurant was my number one choice in the past - it no longer is."

  • "It started bad and also ended BAD! We had 7:00 reservations and did not get seated until 7:45. After getting seated it took another 45 minutes to actually place our order with the waiter. Do not know if the waiter was new but he was definitely over his head in this environment as we usually go there once or twice a year and have real reservations about going there again. We asked for our desserts to go as it was around 9:30 at this time and when we got home and opened the desserts the waiter got 4 out of 5 of them wrong!"

  • "Jennifer was our waitress she welcomed us in took us to our booth and layer rose petals on the table as we seated, right then I knew this was a very great start, she made the dinner very romantic for us. She was very knowledgeable about the types of steaks and helped us choose the rib eye. The steaks were cooked perfectly medium well the plates are served at 500 degrees to ensure you meal is hot to the last bite. Sides were asparagus, and potatoes Au gratin (fresh) is the word and perfectly cooked. Desert creme Brulee served with raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries "amazing taste" we also ordered a bottle of wine, very nice touch, Nivole Moscato D'Asti, Michele Chiarlo, 2007, Italy, I highly recommend. We look forward to going back."

  • "The food was excellent, but my wife got the feeling that our waiter was giving us the cold shoulder as we ordered the basics: a petit filet and a ribeye and we split a large potato and a very large house salad (very good) and she had a glass of wine. I didn't have wine because I as driving. However, the same waiter was very attentive to the next table because they ordered a fancy cocktails and wine and were spending large. I was marked as not being a big spender and treated as such, though the bill before tip was $132 for two."

  • "Food, service, ambience...this Ruth's Chris has it all. We were greeted by every server within 5 feet of us as we went to our seat and on our way out. Our incredible server, Jeannie, was on top of the progress of courses during our prix fixe Valentine'S Day dinner without being on top of us. The ribeye we selected was eye-wateringly perfect and the sides, rolls, salad, and desserts were nearly as good. I highly recommend the key lime pie martini, as well! We were very impressed and will be returning."

Had reservations for 8:00 and were finally seated at 8:50 with another couple whom we just met and had been waiing for a table since 7:30. No food or drink offered as we waited and the hostess and waiter declined giving us a complimentary drink for our long wait. We ended up enjoying our dinner partners but it was not the romantic Valentines dinner we planned. The service was rushed and indifferent. The steak was overdone and looked as if it had been sitting on the pick-up line for a few minutes. The vegetables were very good, however. It will be a long time before we return to Ruth Chris Steak House."

  • "I eat at Ruth's Chris a few times a year, but this visit was disappointing. The Caesar salad came with almost white lettuce. The waiter forgot to come around to offer fresh cracked pepper. The steaks for 6 of us were all not seasoned. It was obviously an oversight or someone in the kitchen who did not know what they were doing. There was less sizzling butter on the plates than normal. A couple of the steaks were under prepared, but nothing too severe. The sides were all good. For a night when the restaurant was virtually empty, the time it took to dine was extremely long. It took right at 2 hours with us taking desserts to go."
