Rustic Canyon Wine Bar and Seasonal Kitchen is a neighborhood restaurant and wine bar located in Santa Monica. The regularly changing menu consists of Farmers' Market-inspired dishes along with a unique selection of boutique wineries from around the world. Rustic Canyon offers twenty options by the glass that rotate on a regular basis and an expanding list of small production offerings by the bottle. Every time you visit there will be something new to try!

  • "That is no exaggeration. Rustic Canyon is an absolute DON'T MISS! The ambiance is relaxed, the service wonderful and the food is superb. Choices abound and change daily. The chef is very creative without trying too many tricks to surprise you. It is obvious that he respects the quality of food. One example was the Clam and Mussel Posole Verde. The combination of textures and the layering of flair was so superb. I also had Skate Wing Picatta....the delicious lemon caper sauce would have been enough for some chefs...this rendition included artichoke hearts and favs beans which gave this fairly simple dish an edge if sophistication and creativity. Don't miss the Olive Oil cake for dessert."

  • "if you like a pricey, hyped food menu that you can't really understand, this is the place. Although the menu "Changes Daily" according to the waitress, the "small plates $18-$24 " and "big plates $28 - $32, all come served as tiny and small portions. The welcome greeting and seating was nice. The patrons eating at tables nearby were polished and well dress and there was a good air of cheer. But when it comes down to actually finding something to eat, get your flashlight out to read the complicated, mixed up ingredients and foods under each 'plate' name. A glass of wine for $22 was good. I normally like Milo & Olive, Huckleberry where I can understand the food and get full. Here, I don't get it (not a "foodie"), sorry."

  • "Tough night for Rustic Canyon. I understand that there is a different chef but the fact that they removed the burger from the menu is ridiculous. They admit that it was by far their most popular item yet they no longer serve it because the chef refuses to do items created by the previous chef...last I checked it is about giving the customers what they want, not what the chef wants! Also had to beg to get the dressing on the side because the chef said that it needed to be served mixed in. We were not a picky group, we just wanted a couple of burgers and a salad with the dressing on the side (0 for 3). Oh well. So many better options in SM. That will be our last trip to Rustic Canyon"

  • "the noise was unbearable. food such as beets and berries with also should have had avocado didnt. there was more concern for the liquor than for which was overrated and expensive. a martini in a old fashion champagne glass? a weak french 75? most wines by the glass well over $12. i felt cheated by this restaurant after having heard it was a good place for both a fine well put together meal with decent drinks."

  • "We dined early here because we had tickets to the Broad, walking distance from the restaurant. We really enjoyed mostly everything, although the portions were pretty small. The kale salad was terrific, the gnocchi quite good, and the clams and mussels very good. A notable plus is that the wine steward poured us a taste of wines by the glass so we could accept or reject them. Also, the service was outstanding. The only disappointment was the whole fish, which was small and so full of bones that i really couldn't eat it. I'd definitely go back for another try."

Between my friend and I, we ordered 4 dishes: the branzino, the pork appetizer, the squid ink pasta, and the toast. I loved each dish. I don't go back to many restaurants twice (there are so many places in LA I still need to try), but I would definitely go back to Rustic Canyon."

  • "We continue to enjoy Rustic Canyon in its different iterations. It's always up and dynamic and the menu never disappoints. Service is helpful and welcoming, but not too casual or familiar. My only negatives are the relatively small booths which are not great for four people and the apparent real absence of the great RC hamburger as opposed to its prior mere removal from the menu. PLEASE BRING IT BACK! Otherwise, no complaints....and we'll return often and with real anticipation."

  • "I've been a fan of Jeremy Fox for a while, and although it's been a while since my last Jeremy Fox meal (at Ubuntu in Napa way back when), Rustic Canyon was as good as I hoped it would be. Standouts include the lavender and sea salt marcona almonds; the broccolini with burrata, chili peppers, and breadcrumbs; and the creme freche tart. So amazingly delicious! My drink, the Sage Advice (gin, meyer lemon, honey, sage), was also perfectly done and delivered."

I know others love it, but its just not of great interest to me. I liked their old menu more, liked the hamburger that they had (even when they changed menu, they still had it if you requested it--no more). The food is good, and people seem to like it, but to me its just not worth the money. Won't go back again."

  • "Limited is the best word to describe this restaurant. A friend said this prior to going but we needed to find out for ourselves. She was right. Cute, small restaurant on Wilshire in Santa Monica that every time I drive by it is crowded and that in of itself is what drew me there. What's all the commotion about? Now I know or don't know, as the case may be. Menu- another small plates, big plates sorta place with an extremely limited menu selection with high $$$. Only 4 Big Plates (entrees) offered and no red meat at all. And where is this famous burger everyone is talking about - gone! Food was all fine but nothing noteworthy to go back for. Luckily we got a booth which was comfy. The rest looked uncomfortable & crowded together."

  • "Courtney, our waitress was extremely knowledgable on the menu - even to the point of how the food was prepared. We ordered 4 appetizers to share. Each one was sublime! The kale salad was to die for; as was the kiwi salad, the broccoli salad and the gnocchi - none of us wanted to share that it was so good! We all chose the roast chicken and that too was delicious. Moist, perfectly cooked and accompanied by an amazing mixture of vegetables with corn. At $60 per head without drinks it's not a cheap place, but with food and service like that, you're happy to pay it."

  • "Went for my Son's Birthday on a Monday night. We chose Rustic Canyon because it was one of the restaurants listed in Jonathan Gold's LA Times top 100 LA Restaurants. We had many of the vegetable dishes including: tutti fruit farms kale salad, local kiwi salad, weiser farms broccoli, and braised swiss chard. The kale salad was exceptional, the swiss chard was horrible, mushy and very over cooked. My Son had the roast chicken and he thought it was excellent. We also tasted the yam swirl & salted carmel ice creams, not hard to guess which one was the favorite, but the Yam Swirl was so different we all thought it was fun. The service was good, the decor was simple and comfortable. We would come again to see next seasons fare."

The combinations of ingredients and flavors are innovative and surprising. We loved everything we ate, including the desserts, which were some of the best we've ever had.   • "The menu changes daily, according to our waitress, and it definitely felt that way -- like a thoughtful interpretation of the best of the market, rather than some standards cranked out with a set menu of sauces. We ordered several small plates to share with another couple, and that worked out great. We got 7 or 8 smaller items. They were all good, each of us had our favorites. We also got the cheese plate, which looked very tiny, but was enough for everyone to have a taste of everything. I would've liked a touch more variety in the cheeses. The desserts were amazing -- carefully made and worth your while. Good but not huge list of wines by the glass, delicious cocktails. Great all-around nicer restaurant. The space is small but not cramped."
