Diner Reviews
  • "Food was good, deserts were great but it is hard to pick this place given that you would spend the same money in el gaucho or jon howie"

  • "Russell's is a great place to eat in the North End. We especially love the steak filet and any way they prepare scallops. The servers are knowledgeable about the wine list and provide excellent service. The wine list highlights Northwest wines, and does not charge a corkage fee if you bring a bottle of Washington wine. You can stop by after wine tasting in Woodinville, but keep your party at 6 or under on the weekends so you can hear each other."

  • "Ambiance was fantastic. Great Wine List with lots of local and beyond wineries listed. All food dishes in our group were outstanding. I had the Rib Eye and it was chared on the outside to perfection with very juicy & flavorful center."

  • "Fabulous dinner at Russell's-the mussels with smorked salmon-delicious! The scallops- amazing -were cooked to perfection! The wine selection superior featuring wonderfulmWashington wines. We love Russell's!"

  • "Went to Russell's mid-week for my wife's birthday and had a very enjoyable evening. The duck breast she ordered was spot on. I had the scallops, which were delicious (although there was a bit of grittiness - maybe a bit of leftover ultrafine sand -- otherwise would have rated 5 stars). Server was delightful and welcoming in every regard. No corkage fee for Washington wines greatly appreciated.Definitely will go there again . . . and may order the scallops once more (with a special request to the kitchen to rinse extra well). Wine list is reasonably priced, so may forego bringing my own bottle next time."

  • "While all of the servers are fabulous, Heather is a real gem! We have enjoyed many special occasions at Russell's Restaurant, and she greatly adds to our enjoyment. The food is exceptional, and Heather always guides us to the very best choices."

  • "Love Russell's! The use of the reservation app on Open Table made it even quicker! Chose which time, date. Received an e-mail confirmation. Then when our party grew from two to 12, we were quickly accommodated, but the cool thing was that the email reminder the day of referenced the 'Party of 12' increase. Very cool!"

  • "We had a wonderful Father's Day dinner at Russell's. The atmosphere is great and they truly have some of the best food in the Pacific Northwest! The halibut was amazing- cooked to perfection and moist and so flavorful. Russell's is where we celebrate many special family occasions and we are never disappointed!FABULOUS,"

  • "Each time I have been to Russell's the food and service has been outstanding. I typically have the scallops which I love, and my son had the double cut pork chops and they were both cooked to perfection. It's in an obscure location but in a very charming repurposed dairy farm (I think) so it's always fun to go and think about what it was like in years past. I would recommend Russell's to anyone."

  • "Russell's, always great. I felt that the portions for risotto were smaller this time. Use to get more. but overall, one of my favorite restaurants."

  • "Years ago this lovely white dairy barn dominated the landscape east of the 405 near Bothell, and is now tucked into a high tech business park. The restaurant is very noisy with many hard surfaces in the refurbished barn--on the plus side, the noise provides ambiance for private table conversation so parents who wish to bring little ones to this upscale restaurant could relax,. Outstanding, attentive service. Exceptional French Casssoulet. This restaurant is a great find, less than 15 minutes from Woodinville wineries. We enjoyed varietals by the glass, yet noted that Russell's will waive corkage on the first bottle of locally purchased wine in support of their Woodinville winery neighbors."

  • "We had wanted to get to Russell's on other special occasions but it did not work out. We finally made some reservations and went on a Saturday evening with a party of 5.. We looked on line and found that there is no corking fee charge for the first bottle of wine and only $15 for the second. So we brought our own wine. Russell's was really busy the night we were there but we never felt out of touch with the service. Our waitress checked back with us regularly as we were catching up with our friends and sipping some cocktails. We eventually ordered appetizers' (the meat and cheese plate) and then ordered dinner. We ordered the duck, New York strips, The Filet Mignon and Fettuccini. The food was excellent. Wonderful experience. We'll be back."

  • "I thought that this restaurant would be difficult to find because of it's remote location but it wasn't. Ample and Convient parking. Quiet at our 6 o'clock appointment but filled soon after. The sea bass and scollops were excellent. The wine list favors Washington wines. The service was very good. We will be going back."

  • "The filet is out of this world; my wife had the scallops, they were wonderful; the crisp for dessert - I want to go back right now!"

  • "Had the caesar, filet mignon, and the seasonal fruit crumble (strawberry?). Steak was cooked to perfection. Also tried the seasonal special halibut which was also terrific."

  • "This is a very nice restaurant. Good variety in the menu and very good wine listing. Reception and service is superior."

  • "I had high hopes for the food and service. I felt that the entrees were overpriced for their quality. The service was alright, but nothing outstanding. I had brought guests and was a bit dissapointed that the service from the waitress did not shine. The busboy, however was very good with a great sense of humor. Tje quality of the ribeye special was not up to the pricetag. Tough and chewy. I had the Filet which was good, but still not up to a $42 price tag. "

  • "As usual, Russell's outdid themselves. Serving the absolutely most amazing scallops, my date and I also enjoyed the shrimp fettucine and the duck. All wonderful dishes designed to please the taste buds. Love this restaurant. It has never disappointed."

  • "Our meal and service was exceptional. Great local wine list. "

  • "The halibut was over cooked and very bland. It needed a sauce with something to spice it up or even accent it. My husband had the bean dish which was also over cooked and not very good. The wine was very expensive and the service average. I would not reccomend it to a friend."

  • "Only complaint are the hard surfaces everywhere makes a loud dinner. "

  • "We've enjoyed Russell's on several occassions. Love the consistency of the food - though the double pork chop was off just a bit this evening. And they didn't have any rissotto! Great service as always and the ambiance...... love it! We'll be back!"

  • "Great food! Great staff! Truly a neighborhood gem! "

  • "All the food was perfectly cooked when it comes to execution. We had the crabcakes and the scallops for appetizes and and the duck and the filet mignon for entrees. The bread they serve is warm and delicious (focaccia style, so a little heavy). The service was prompt and friendly (almost a little too prompt at the end when we were finishing our wine and they wanted to whip away everything else from the table). Overall I'd give it a 3.5 if I could. I just can't put my finger on what was lacking. The food, while solid, didn't have that extra yum to blow me away, the side dishes are the same for most of the dishes, so there isn't too much variety, the ambiance is ok. I'd happily go back, though, and give it another shot. "

  • "We come here often after visiting a few tasting rooms specifically because they don't charge corkage on the first bottle of Washington wine. I think that is such a cool thing for them to do in support of the local wine industry. Cheers to that! "

  • "Best scallops with a reasonable price in Seattle. We had dinner 2 Sundays in a row mainly and loved the food & service."

  • "Wanted to go out for Mother's Day, and Russell's seemed like a nice adventure for the Open Table description. Food was very good -- teen-age son loved his sea bass. (One exception, skip the teriaki beef appetizer: quite bland.) Service was quite nice, attentive but not clingy. All in all, a real find out in an area I would not have considered for a nice restaurant."

  • "First of all the food is amazing, we have had everything scallops, steaks and even vegetarian, all of which were cooked to perfection. The first time we went we had just come from hiking and were kind of grubby and feeling very self conscious, our server Heather treated us as if we were dressed for a night at the opera. She was informative and witty and is always requested when we make reservations. No matter who your server is the food and cocktails at Russell's will impress that special person in your life or your best client. Enjoy "

  • "It is a favorite place for me personally and to go on business dinners as well. The wine list is great and reasonably priced. The staff cannot be nicer! "

  • "We hadn't been to Russell's in over a year and then the name came up and we remembered all the reasons why we need to have this as one of our "go-do" dining establishments. The wine list is well-rounded with something for everyone. The service is impeccable, attentive but not over-bearing. We started with the scallop appetizer which was perfectly cooked, and complimented with a yummy sauce. Hubby had the prime rib special and I had the surf & turf. Both were cooked exactly as ordered and fork tender. Yes, the prices are a little on the high end but for the service and atmosphere, it's well worth the treat. "

  • "This place has too many hard surfaces. It is very difficult to carry on a conversation across a table. The noise level reminds on of a grade school cafeteria at lunch. Not a bit romantic."

  • "Tables were extremely close and noisy once they were all filled. Service was terrific, spinach salad great, scallops were delish, my husbands steak was huge and perfectly cooked.. Deseret was just okay. Wine was overpriced as always. My only thing with it was a bit cold as in temp and decor and it didn't have much ambiance, chairs weren't that comfortable, and it's cement floors. Felt a bit like I was in a barn. But the food was great enough to say we'd return. Menu is very small don't expect a lot of choices. "

  • "Russell's food is excellent, service outstanding and the ambience of the restaurant is mostly quiet. It is a great place to go for a special celebration, a quiet romantic evening or just because it is Tuesday! The wine list features many great wineries from Woodinville and there is no corkage for Woodinville wines and maybe WA wines... I'm not sure on that one! I have been a fan of Russell Lowell's cuisine for over 20 years. His menus never disappoint! "

  • "Wasn't looking for a romantic dinner, but was looking for a quiet dinner with my wife. Seated in the back area by two rather boisterous groups celebrating birthdays. The food was ok, but not great by any means. I had the Halibut special and my wife had the Filet Mignon as recommended by our server. We're by no means food critics, but for $200.00 with one drink and one glass of wine, I have higher expectations for ambiance and food quality. I'd go back as part of a group, but I don't think I would go back for a quiet dinner with my wife."

  • "Had crab cakes (ok), arugula salad (too few goat cheese), ny strip steak (amazing! peppercorns annoying though), white chocolate amaretto cheesecake (too many almonds, crust too thick and dry)"
