Rush - Dining RoomHad a lovely dinner at RushHad a lovely dinner at Rush the other evening. Hadn't been for a while, during which the chef has changed several times. Still delivering excellent value. We had a wonderfully comfortable booth for two near the rear of the dining area. The food was really beautifully presented and very tasty. Scallops & foie-gras api was outstanding, a re-imagined caesar salad take was interesting and tasty. Our mains of duck trio and lamb were also terrific - wonderful flavour combinations. We also had a wonderfully personable yet professional server. The only minor quibble was that the plate and food arrived a little cooler than it should have. Overall, great place - I'll definitely be back!12/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAt last - the search is over!I thought the food was great, presentation was spot-on, the portions were reasonable (not too much, or too little) and the price reasonable. A big plus is the ambience. Tasteful, upscale and quiet and the main reason I selected Rush for an important business lunch. I detest going to a restaurant and paying top dollar for a meal where I can barely hear the person sitting beside me, no problem conversing with everyone at my table without having to raise my voice or straining to hear what was being said - a very refreshing change from a few similar establishments in Calgary.
The service was perfect, just the right balance without hovering over you, but always there at just the right moment - impressive! The dining room was very elegantly decorated, the staff was very attentive, and the atmosphere was suitable for a business dinner. The only blemish was the appetizers. I think the chefs would benefit from re-thinking some of the starters. We were so worried about our main course after the appetizers that we were considering canceling the order, but we were pleasantly surprised. The duck breast was wonderful...brilliantly cooked, great flavour combinations.
