A word from Rumpus Room
Rumpus Room is the smashing together of two great places. A great bar with a huge beer selection, craft cocktails, and a incredible whiskey selection and a Bartolotta restaurant serving traditional comfort food with an atypical twist.

  • "We love this place Great go to place for a great meal"

  • "Met some old college friends for an early dinner/drinks at 5:30pm on a Wednesday. Not crowded, but service was pretty slow. Seems like the staff needed time to ramp up for the evening. For instance, one round of drinks never showed up. However, the food compensated for it! Absolutely incredible meat & cheese tray, scallops, pan-friend chicken!"

  • "Pub style restaurant with a creative but limited menu. Casual atmosphere but still maintains the feel of upscale dining."

  • "This was an awesome experience from the moment we walked in. It is t ruely one on best dining places to go in Milwaukee."

  • "Overall food was fairly good - my dinner (one of the entrees) was excellent, although those in my group ordered sandwiches / burgers that were good but not spectacular. They also had a fairly large and impressive list of available beers and liquors with a good bar. Atmosphere was good without reasonable price point on the food."

  • "As soon as we walked in, we were greetly warmly and the bartender was super friendly. My hussband picked this place for the exceptional beer selection. Our bartender with the awesome cool beard told us about this place, knew the history of it and really impressed my husband with his beer knowledge. You could tell he loved his job and working there. Once we were seated the waitress was fantastic and the service was perfect. The food came out quickly and was delicious!! The bartender even came over to our table to see if everything was going alright, what great service!! Everything about this place was just amazing. We have been highly recommending it to anyone that listens!! Can't wait to go abck!"

  • "Stopped in for dinner before the ballet, waiter checked to see if we were attending a show that evening and said he would make sure we were done in time. He suggested a beer to go with the fish fry, his suggestion was perfect. as was the fish fry. We ordered dessert and requested our bill at the same time. We received the bill and settled up, dessert arrived, we consumed the calorie free :) treat, exited quickly and ran down the street to arrive at the ballet with 2 min to spare. In a nutshell - elegantly casual. Joe is doing an excellent job with his endeavors."

  • "Love the personal touches - like being greeted, finding a place at the bar for us and checking back with us. Also love the "Happy Hour" specials. Their $4 Old Fashions are great!"

  • "We really loved this restaurant. It is great to be able to find a spot downtown serving excellent food at really affordable prices. Great drinks and logical food portions. There are many snacks, appetizers, and salads priced to sample and share. The Bartalottas have struck gold yet again. Also, we really appreciated the fact that they take reservations. We will definitely return."

  • "Whether before or after the theater, you can count on Rumpus Room to provide an excellent meal, attentive service, and a very pleasing experience in general. As one can tell from the name, it is very casual from an attire point of view, but the attention to detail is anything but casual. I've been pleased every time I've been there!"

  • "My husband and I love going to the Rumpus Room before the PAC. It is convenient and the menu is great - as all Bartalotta Restaurants. I love the steak sandwich -salads are scrumptious! And the Scotch Egg is unbelievable. The staff is always very friendly and accommodating. Thank you. BTW, parking is convenient and a good price."

  • "This evening was about the tenth time we've been at The Rumpus Room and it continues to be one of our favorite places. The extensive variety of beers and wine selections coupled with a menu that changes but leaves room for specials and their standards, makes us return. It's proximity to the PAC and other downtown locations is also a plus. The wait staff has always been attentive to any special time considerations when dining before various shows."

  • "Arrived for half of Happy Hour and found an excellent beer list and wonderful server who was very knowledgeable on the beer menu and future events for the restaurant. Proceeded to a wonderful dinner and desert. A perfect 10!!"

  • "We had a larger group for my birthday dinner. The staff was great and accommodating. It was my first time at the Rumpus Room and I would definitely return. Prices were reasonable and ambiance was fantastic."

  • "Enjoyed every bite of our dinner (was with a group of three others). Two had the cuban sandwiches which were excellent; I had the fish fry special which was also very good. The chicken on the bed of brussel sprouts was also very good. Two very minor criticisms -- we sat in a large corner booth and it was very dark. The restaurant is also very noisy but I don't think there's much they can do about it. This might not be the best choice for a romantic evening! The desserts were also very good and they had a nice variety to choose from. The raspberry sorbet was very tasty. Our server was very good and made many helpful suggestions. For most of us, this was our first time at the restaurant."

  • "Definite destination during the NCAA tourney. Excellent job dealing with a restaurant that was quiet to full with Wisconsin fans in 10 minutes. Food great. Service very good"

  • "Excellent food and service, however quite pricey. Our wait person was very helpful and attentive."

  • "No faulting the quality of the food, that's for sure, but my entree sized salad came out with everyone else's dinner salads leaving me with not much to eat as the others enjoyed their dinners. Considering we ordered our food at the same time as our first drinks, 2 hours was a little long to be there. Good thing we were with fun people."

  • "We loved the "snacks" - deviled eggs, ramaki, spiced popcorn. I had the Cuban and it was the best I've had."

  • "tables are a little too close together, therefore, conversations are pretty noisy. My husband had the chicken and I had the steak sandwich. Both entrees outstanding! Our waitress made sure we were able to make the show on time, yet the serving was not rushed. Would go back again."

  • "My wife and I had yet another outstanding dinner/evening at Rumpus Room. From the moment we were greeted by the host, to the prompt and precision bar service, to the excellent and friendly table service, we were impressed. The thoughtfully crafted food/drink never disappoints and while it's not exactly a cheap date (if done correctly), it's such an enjoyable place to spend time and money. We will be back many times in the future and will continue to support the Bartolotta enterprise."

  • "My husband and I had dinner here before a show at the Marcus Center. They host asked us immediately if we were attending a show so they could ensure they paced the service accordingly. Food was great as was the service...efficient and friendly."

  • "We had a reservation but waited an extra 20 minutes past the time. Restaurant was very crowded and overly noisy. Not the romantic experience I'd hoped for. The menu was very limited with odd selections. Portions were small. Waiter was good but very busy so we didn't see him as often as we would have preferred. We spent over an hour in the bar in front of the serving staff. Too chaotic watching them work. Many did hustle and took their jobs seriously. Personable bartender. Bar was crowded with a lot of people standing too close behind us and constantly reaching over us. Would not recommend this restaurant again."

  • "great time with friends, cheese plate, charcuterie should have options for two people/portions set up for the number in the party"

  • "Service was slow, didn't tell us about the happy hour specials (had to learn about it on the bathroom wall). Food had to be sent back (undercooked) and came back still undercooked but waitress never came back to ask if it was OK. Old Fashion was good, grilled cheese and french fries were very good. Overall, underwhelmed by the service."

  • "The atmosphere of the Rumpus Room was outstanding as it is very cozy yet you feel very secluded at your table. Noise level was minimal considering how intimate the space is. The architecture and decor was warm and inviting. I was very pleased with the variety and selection of the signature cocktails, wines, and beers that were available."

  • "And clever cocktails are what I know here. There are plenty of other options though, and they are probably equally weel done!"

  • "The staff asked if we had plans for a show later so they could get our food served before we needed to leave, nice personal touch. The beer cheese soup is always a must. Good menu and the specialties were told to us by our server in great detail."

  • "Had nice meal, trout was well-cooked, though I like my fish skin crispier. Chicken was crispy, potato pancakes a bit bland, not crisp. Service very attentive, and server Kevin made sure we were able to get out in time for our symphony performance across the street. All in all, a very adequate meal, though I expect just a bit more from Bartolotta."

  • "I went to this restaurant twice last week as I was traveling on business. The staff was amazing, and the food was out of this world. Try everyone of their craft cocktails. An amazing list. They also have one of the most extensive bourbon lists I've seen outside of Kentucky. Then the food. Wow. I had a burger one time and the duck salad the next. Each was exquisite. The flavors were layered and satisfying. This is a neighborhood pub that I would frequent withy friends!"

  • "Not just bacon, but amazing bacon. We decided to appetizer through, and were well rewarded. We started with the bacon appetizer and the Thai chicken wings. She had the Katzenjammer mixed drink, I had the Evan Williams with two rocks. She liked her cocktail, and I enjoyed the bourbon immensely. They have a great selection of bourbons. Round two - Bolognese appetizer, she had the Wienhenstephaner (Great Weiss beer) and I had a seltzer with lime juice, I like to pace myself, and I also wanted to reset my palette for the next drink. I asked for Rose's Lime, our server lamented that they didn't have it, and would I like FRESH SQUEEZED instead? Um, yes. It was the perfect cleanser. 10 year old Pappy & 20 year port, AMAZING"
