A word from Rumpus Room
Rumpus Room is the smashing together of two great places. A great bar with a huge beer selection, craft cocktails, and a incredible whiskey selection and a Bartolotta restaurant serving traditional comfort food with an atypical twist.

  • "Service was a bit slow. We sat at our table for a while before our waiter came. However, once he arrived he was very good. I found their happy hour a little disappointing as their selections for beer extreamly limited (4-5 tap beers). No food deals. Recommend the cheese and sausage platter and the candied baccon snack."

  • "We were in town for the racine half ironman. All I wanted after completing that was a nice juicy burger and a solid crafted cocktail. Rumpus room provided both. Wait staff was very friendly and helpful in their recommendations. I would definitely recommend to out of towners or townies."

  • "We celebrated our anniversary at Rumpus Room recently. We had a wonderful experience, we had a great server, but multiple employees came to our table to greet us and ensure a good time for both of us. The beer list was remarkable and the menu offered something for everyone. We especially enjoyed the meat and cheese board!"

  • "We went to the Rumpus Room on a Sunday night so I suspect our evening was not typical as this seems to be more of a Bar / Restaurant which probably is quite lively most nights. Food and beverages were very good and waitress was very nice."

  • "This is more of a bar than a restaurant....the cheese/meat plate was a boring three slices each of cheddar and summer sausage...the salmon was great (very tasty and nicely done) but the arugula salad with the long stems did not do much for me...the puff dessert, full of shaving cream/whip cream was equally unimpressive...wont go back."

  • "Excellent food; friendly, but professional and very knowledgeable wait staff; within walking distance of multiple performing arts, sports & special events venues. What more could you ask for? Did I mention the food was excellent?"

  • "Went for Downtown Dining dinner. Was excellent selection of items. The cream puff with banana was very interesting, delicious. Great beer selection."

  • "My friend and I reserved a table so we could enjoy the Downtown Dining Week Dinner Special. There were two items under each heading (app, entrée, and dessert) so we ordered one of each so we can share. This was our first time dining at the Rumpus Room and they didn't disappoint. The soup was good, but my friend's meat and cheese plate was okay. She said the bread was dry even with the jam, and there's not a lot of cheese. Should be called the meat and bread plate instead. Our entrees were really delicious! My steak frites came with French fries, which both were great. My friend had the salmon arugula salad and she enjoyed that as well. We were so stuffed that we had to take our desserts to go. Overall, a very good experience!"

  • "A little loud for conversation but overall ambiance good. Walt staff and hosts very friendly and helpful. Awesome beer list and quite a bit of local / Wisconsin beers to choose from. Fantastic food! Pork belly starter was as near to a religious experience I've had.... The play of textures and the rich flavors! "

  • "After researching various restaruants in the area, I decided on Rumpus Room based on location and the rave reviews. It was excellent. The beer list was extrordinary and food was delicious. "

  • "Took my Fiancé out for her birthday, we were seated right away with our reservations, they brought out the flowers I requested, brought out champagne. It was an amazing experience and we both had an amazing time. The Food was great, the table was perfect and she loved every minute of it. Highly recommend this place for anyone!"

  • "Fun, delicious menu in a warm, playful and eclectic atmosphere. I would come again for dinner or for a late night snack after a show or concert downtown. I highly recommend the braised pork shoulder. Served in a cast iron pan in the shape of the state of Wisconsin, this perfectly balanced dish is high on taste and low frills. Superb! "

  • "Great menu, lot's of choices for our eclectic group - Omnivores, Pescatarians and Vegetarians. We all loved the mussels as an appetizer, and many devoured the bacon appetizer too. All of our various entrees were enjoyed in the restaurant, no take home for us!"

  • "We got the meat and cheese platter that they picked for us, we got 2 cheeses and 1 meat as an appetizer. Highly recommend this platter. For the entrees, I got the Pork Schnitzel and my fiance got the Rainbow Trout. I was very satisfied with my meal. My fiance said her meal was good, but not anything special. Both of the portion sizes were slightly smaller than we would have liked, but that made us order dessert which is smart on their part I guess. For dessert, we had Warm Chocolate Bread Pudding. Food wise, best parts of the meals were the appetizer and the dessert. The service was impeccable - water glass always full, correct timing between beers, appetizer, entrees and dessert, and our waiter was very pleasant. Total Bill before tip: $89"

  • "Disappointing. Food was bland. Fish over cooked. Wine list not impressive. Service was weird and confusing. Slow service even though there were only two other tables in the restaurant. "

  • "Our family came to Rumpus room to celebrate several things while I was visiting. The staff was attentive, professional and knowledgeable. They quickly and enthusiastically worked to add another to the table after I miscounted on the reservation and took the time to answer questions on the history of the restaurant and menu options. The Shiparski burger was awesome and a true foodie find in Milwaukee. Enjoy!"

  • "As part of a local food tour, we asked our guide to give us recommendations of locations in the city that were not part of the tour. She had recommended the Rumpus Room, since we had identified ourselves as foodies early in the tour. Located just north of the 3rd Ward, the Rumpus Room had an extremely inviting atmostphere and wide range of food choices, though most seemed to lean toward pork offerings. I had their twist on the Cuban Sandwich, while my wife had the Braised Pork Shoulder. Both were excellent, and we would return. The only negative to the entire experience was our wine presentation. I could tell the location was more known for its beers and craft cocktails, so wine was probably not common for them."

  • "Booked online for 2 birthdays after PAC event. Food was fantastic (Have 8 million air miles and have eaten around the world - several times!) We very much appreciated first class service and waiter was superb. As I recall we tipped him enough for him to feel adopted AND it was worth it. Thanks Dan Jones"

  • "We have dined at the Rumpus Room before and it has not changed. The menu is mainly small plate, and seems a bit limited to me. We had smelt, the large charcueterie plate, and an asparagus salad. Having grown up in Wisconsin and never experiencing smelt before, I thought it was time. It was done nicely, but not my cup of tea. The charcuterie plate was nice, but what was described as blue cheese had no resemblance of blue at all. The asparagus salad was delicious, but we doubted it was an asparagus salad, as there was precious little to be found. Our server was friendly and quite efficient. A nice place to visit if you are heading to the theater."

  • "I had the pork shoulder which was very tender. My husband had the Cuban sandwich that he called "something Jimmy John's would have made". We had devil eggs and the flatbread pizza and both were excellent. The place was quite loud and it took 20 mins for the waitress to come over."

  • "We had a great time at The Rumpus Room. The food was very good. The drinks, especially "the Bachelor", were excellent! But perhaps best of all was the service. Our server, Kevin, knew his stuff. he was engaging but not over the top or annoying, just the right amount of attention & service. Perfect."

  • "It was our first time there, and we were very impressed. The ambience was nice, food delicious and service was outstanding. Our waiter went over everything with us, and explained what we didn't know. Very knowledge about food & drink menus. Will definitely go back!"

  • "I was aware that it would be great-----it was a Bartalotta Restaurant. My pork schnitzel was the best I have ever had and the apple (with shaved ham) salad was to "die" for."

  • "Met some old college friends for an early dinner/drinks at 5:30pm on a Wednesday. Not crowded, but service was pretty slow. Seems like the staff needed time to ramp up for the evening. For instance, one round of drinks never showed up. However, the food compensated for it! Absolutely incredible meat & cheese tray, scallops, pan-friend chicken!"

  • "Overall food was fairly good - my dinner (one of the entrees) was excellent, although those in my group ordered sandwiches / burgers that were good but not spectacular. They also had a fairly large and impressive list of available beers and liquors with a good bar. Atmosphere was good without reasonable price point on the food."

  • "As soon as we walked in, we were greetly warmly and the bartender was super friendly. My hussband picked this place for the exceptional beer selection. Our bartender with the awesome cool beard told us about this place, knew the history of it and really impressed my husband with his beer knowledge. You could tell he loved his job and working there. Once we were seated the waitress was fantastic and the service was perfect. The food came out quickly and was delicious!! The bartender even came over to our table to see if everything was going alright, what great service!! Everything about this place was just amazing. We have been highly recommending it to anyone that listens!! Can't wait to go abck!"

  • "We really loved this restaurant. It is great to be able to find a spot downtown serving excellent food at really affordable prices. Great drinks and logical food portions. There are many snacks, appetizers, and salads priced to sample and share. The Bartalottas have struck gold yet again. Also, we really appreciated the fact that they take reservations. We will definitely return."

  • "Stopped in for dinner before the ballet, waiter checked to see if we were attending a show that evening and said he would make sure we were done in time. He suggested a beer to go with the fish fry, his suggestion was perfect. as was the fish fry. We ordered dessert and requested our bill at the same time. We received the bill and settled up, dessert arrived, we consumed the calorie free :) treat, exited quickly and ran down the street to arrive at the ballet with 2 min to spare. In a nutshell - elegantly casual. Joe is doing an excellent job with his endeavors."
