Welcome to Rumi’s Kitchen! The premier Sandy Springs location for Persian Cuisine. Owner and Head Chef Ali Mesghali’s unique and flavorful touch has been wowing patrons for over 20 years. His previous restaurant, Persepolis, was a Sandy Springs favorite.

Rumi’s Kitchen draws influence from the culinary mother of the middle east, Persia, which spanned from the banks of the Nile River in the west to the mountains of Northern India in the east, and from the shores of the Caspian Sea in the north to the deserts of Arabia in the south of the Persian Gulf.Continued

  • "Everything is served Kabob style with different rices. The food was wonderful! We enjoyed the eggplant dip, the lamb kabobs and the seabass. Each was fantastic, with excellent flavors and presentations. Portions are big, so we took home leftovers, and I got to enjoy them again the next day. I can't wait to go back!"

  • "Our waitress was extremely friendly and helped suggest dishes and ways to use all the spices and herbs provided. We got the appetizer sampler, the lamb sliders, the rack of lamb, chicken kabob, and baklava. I highly recommend the appetizer sampler for groups - it's a ton of food for just two people. So many different flavors, all of them bold and interesting. The lamb sliders were absolutely delicious! The rack of lamb was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. I only had a couple of bites of my husband's and I savored every morsel. The chicken kabob was very flavorful and juicy. A very large serving - I took half of it home. The baklava was okay, but the pistachio ice cream with it was great! Only downside is it's very loud!"

  • "Excellent food and service every time we've been (~15x). Have to make reservations plenty ahead of when you want to go because it's always busy, which is a good sign. Great for special occasions or just a weekend night. Boisterous place and bar. Not really an "outside eatery." I wish they would make the Valet optional. I don't really need someone to park my car right across from where I have to drop it off. I can do that myself, and quite frankly, need the exercise after all that delicious food! We love Rumi's - best Persian food in Sandy Springs!"

  • "Met some colleagues here for drinks and appetizers and everyone really liked the decor, the vibe, and the food. We did all wonder why there were so many waiters standing around. Were they expecting a Friday night rush? Anyway, it seemed odd to have so many just hanging out. We certainly were not ignored. No one ordered a full meal so they didn't get to taste how good the kebabs and rice are, but I recommended they come back since I've been for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed them."

  • "I went to this restaurant for a Date Night with my husband, and it was impeccable!!! From the moment we walked in, the place was vibrant! The atmosphere/ambiance was excellent. I saw families and friends chatting it on with each other. Our waiter was excellent and very hospitalable - he served his job well. Last but not least, THE FOOD WAS AMAZING!!!! We will definitely go there again!!!"

  • "They have absolutely no respect for disabled individuals. They allow the valet company to park cars in the handicap spots. It is important to know that the proper procedure for someone requiring a handicap/wheelchair accessible spot and not being able to access one because an able-bodied person is in the spot is to call the police. When the police arrive, the car parked in the handicap spot gets ticketed -- even if they did not park it there themselves. Nothing happens to the valet company or the restaurant until the TICKETED customer takes issue."

  • "Everyone from valet parking to hostess to waiters were professional, attentive and kind. Our waiter, Marcus, was the best waiter we can remember- and that is saying a lot. We were treated as special guests. We would very highly recommend Rumi's for its excellent food and especially for its excellent service."

We couldn't even have a conversation with the other couple without yelling...even the waiter complained. The building is all concrete and steel...they need something to deaden the sound."

  • "Hostess staff got off on a very wrong foot. Rumi's has a policy of not seating a party until all members have arrived. This is very difficult for a restaurant with almost no waiting room such as Rumi's. We were asked if our whole party was there, and we told them yes, we were told it would be just a moment and then we were made to stand there for almost 10 minutes, while multiple other parties were either completed by people arriving, or were simply new arrivals. When I went back to the hostess to find out what was going on, we were seated, but any apology was half hearted. Wait staff service was spotty and sloppy at times. Rumi's was my selection, I heard great things about the food and ambience, but I am hesitant to recommend it."

  • "I love this restaurant, and have been a fan since it opened a few years back. Service and food have always been wonderful. This time, though, the hostess could have been more professional. We requested a different table than the one she took us to, and she came up with different excuses as to why we could not have the table we wanted, and kept going back and forth to the hostess station, leaving us standing there by the table. Fortunately, one of the managers was quick to address us, and asked us to please seat at the table we wanted, with no problem. Meanwhile, we had no menus. Good thing was that because we go there so much, we know exactly what we wanted. Hostess never came by to apologize or finish her job of offering us the menu."

  • "There were some highlights and some that were not. When we arrived, we saw that they had valet parking only; you could not park the car yourself. When we went to check in (we were 2 in a party of 4), the hostess refused to seat us until all the members of the party arrived. I even asked if we could sit and order drinks because our friends were en route, but 'no' was the answer. When we finally got to sit down (in an area that had many empty tables in the back of the restaurant), that's when the experience improved. The drink (Persian sunset, I think) was outstanding! I ordered 2! The chicken kababs were decent, and the homemade, warm bread was really good. The desserts were very good as well. We had a fun time after we sat down."

  • "During a sunny day the interior of the restaurants has plenty of windows to be lit up beautifully, setting a calm and enjoyable mood. I visited during lunch when the restaurant was packed. This may have been a factor but the service, although polite, was very slow from start to finish. Have conversations ready for the wait between orders. The food was good, my table loved the bread mixed with the hummus as well as the Lamb Sliders (see picture on Foodspotting). For the entrees, you will get your moneys worth in terms of quantity (huge), the quality was solid as well. My table had good things to say about the "Lamb Kabob Mint yogurt" and "Shrimp Kabob Saffron". Food is good, but high price and slow service doesn't put Rumi's at the top."

  • "Lots of interesting flavors, we ordered several appetizers and split an entree. Portions were large and restaurant separated our shared salad and entree in the kitchen which was lovely. The arugula salad was good but unexceptional. The yogurt dips were fun and yummy as were the garbanzo beans served in their pods. The fried eggplant was not the expected sliced and fried dish - it was a large portion of mashed and fried eggplant. I liked the spices whereas my dining partner did not. We both loved the lamb shish khabob with lentil and raisin rice. Wine list is pricey but interesting. Looking forward to returning and adding something new to favorites from this visit."

  • "My mother, college aged son and I had lunch at Rumi's the other day and it was not a place I would ever recommend. The food was just OK and very expensive for lunch or dinner. I had the cucumber martini which was delicious but had virtually no vodka in it. The hummus was very good as was the bread that they serve with it. Everything else was mediocre. What really turned me off was our waiter. He was very condescending and VERY slow. Also, the acoustics were horrible. It wasn't that crowded and I could barely hear my mother who was sitting right next to me."

We sat in the "quiet" part of the restaurant and we still had to shout to hear each other. This is a shame because the food is fantastic and the place looks great."

  • "We took our guests who were new to Atlanta to Rumi's Kitchen, as they enjoy ethnic cuisine. They thoroughly enjoyed the meal, as did we. If you are in the mood for something a little out of the ordinary, this is your place! My only criticism is that it is a bit noisy. The food is excellent and is prepared in an open kitchen. Great dining experience, overall!"

  • "Our service was wonderful and the food exquisite. My only reservation is that, while it was delicious, it seems to be lacking the authenticity of true Persian food. Not being an expert, I can only compare it to how it was when we first discovered it a couple of years ago. Nor can I say what was different, but it did seem to be. Still, I would go back and bring friends, as long as they were not expecting the true Persian experience, but satisfied with just wonderful food, however Americanized. I still recommend the kashk (sp?) badanjoon."

  • "Bummer. We had been to Rumi's Kitchen several years prior and had a wonderful time with delicious food. Now that they are in a larger location, we welcomed the opportunity to visit again, when our dining partners said, "pick somewhere fun." While the decor is lovely, it is loud and the parking is still horrible. Moreover, the food wasn't nearly as good -- the chicken kabob was overcooked and dry as were some of the roasted vegetables. The most annoying aspect was the wait staff - while they weren't pushy, per se, they did clear plates that weren't finished quite without asking if were done... I know they had a crowd waiting to be seated, but were only there about an hour. We hardly overstayed our welcome and didn't skimp on ordering."

  • "Terriffic selection of Persian and Mediteranean style appetizers, with authentic flavors, and good use of herbs and spices. Particularly liked the warm baked eggplant (dip) with fresh flatbread. Chicken kabobs were delicious - marinated in lemon on a bed of rice - huge portion (too big?). Baklava was good but not great. This was a Sunday lunch-time, when it was moderately busy. Restaurant is light and airy, with a relaxed feel. Very good service. We would have liked to try more of the starters, and next time will do that instead of an entree."
