A word from Rumi's Kitchen
Welcome to Rumi’s Kitchen! The premier Sandy Springs location for Persian Cuisine. Owner and Head Chef Ali Mesghali’s unique and flavorful touch has been wowing patrons for over 20 years. His previous restaurant, Persepolis, was a Sandy Springs favorite.

Rumi’s Kitchen draws influence from the culinary mother of the Middle East, Persia, which spanned from the banks of the Nile River in the west to the mountains of Northern India in the east, and from the shores of the Caspian Sea in the north to the deserts of Arabia in the south of the Persian Gulf.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "We don't know how we missed going to Rumi's before, as we spend almost a month a year on business in Atlanta. However, it will be on our once a trip list from now on. Everything was delicious-loved the eggplant with crispy onion starter and lamb sliders. Our server had only been there a week but was knowledgeable about everything on the menu. In a city that lacks the ethnic restaurant choices we have up North, a great find. Reservations a must, so plan ahead."

  • "I took a small business group to lunch here. The service was great and the noise level was good enough that we could review a proposal with the client during lunch with good dialog."

  • "Rumi's is a restaurant for someone who wants a special meal, not a steak and potato dinner. The Persian flavor's are a delight to the senses, as well as the mind, combining old tastes in new combinations. One of their key's is the freshness of their ingredients, particularly their appetizers. My wife had the delicious steak kabob, which was wonderful, though the attendant ground beef kabob was less so. I had the wonderful shrimp kabob. The desert tea pudding was worth the visit in itself."

  • "Bottom line - avoid the patio. One of our favorite restaurants & can attract large groups. After checking-in with our OpenTable reservation, we waited at the bar. We noticed the evening's loud volume. After a wait, hostesses said our table was on the "patio". Inside table would be a longer wait. It was suggested the patio might be quieter & hostess said it was cool outside. The tall clay & straw perimeter wall prevents any possible breeze. Ambiance is more of an abandoned home than a patio. There isn't even a ceiling fan. Unattractive rustic walls retain daytime heat & corner tables suffer doubly from wall heat and lack of air circulation. We exited through the air conditioned building after 10pm & much cooler than the patio."

  • "Rumi's served up to their reputation. The food was excellent. The waiter (forgot his name) was excellent. He served up condiments judging what my taste for spicy food. Very good."

  • "Inspired, beautiful, flavorful food. Everytime we're in town, we come. In fact we plan trips around getting to eat here. The appetizer platter, the chicken barg, salmon, orange peel rice, and ice cream sandwiches are our faves."

  • "I have been looking for a good Mediterranean restaurant for a long time here in Alpharetta. Came across Rumi's and decided to visit. Good restaurant, loads of wine options. Food is tasty and the portions are good sized. I love their interiors :)"

  • "Very good food & I'm picky about Persian food. Portions were huge, so very good value. Lamb sliders were delicious as were all the kebabs, and the rice was cooked perfectly. Decor is a great mix of modern and ethnic Persian, gave the place a cool vibe. Our server was helpful, knowledgeable and very attentive without hovering. The bar was not busy but they seemed overwhelmed. The service was friendly but quite slow & the cocktails were too fussy, and very sweet. However, when my husband asked to exchange his drink, it was done without question, and very graciously, so no complaints on that score. On the whole a great experience - will go again, wish it was closer in town & not so close to the perimeter or we'd go more often!"

The food is authentic, the wait staff is not only knowledgeable about the menu, they are able to make appropriate suggestions for those who have never enjoyed such a cuisine. • "Rumi's has always been recommended but my family had never been for dinner. This was truly the best dining experience we have had in years. The drinks were outstanding and so unusual. The appetizers through desert were fabulous and the service was perfect! I will tell everyone I see to go to Rumi's and we will be there again soon. We are so lucky to have this gem in Sandy Springs! Thanks to everyone at Rumi's for an amazing evening!"

  • "Went to Rumi's Kitchen for an anniversary dinner. This was our first time, but we had heard great things. Our server was very good. She explained everything and answered all of our questions. All of her recommendations were spot on. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. Only drawback was the noise level. Will definitely return."

  • "Went for an appreciation dinner for our team after work. The environment was elegant, the food was fantastic and the service was good. I'd highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a place to go for a special evening. Order the Chilean Sea Bass!! Delicious!!"

  • "It is too bad that the noise in this place plays such a part as the food, service, and ambience is excellent. They have spent a fortune to make this place as beautiful as it is; consequently, they should do something about that open ceiling."

  • "Four of us had dinner; 2 had shrimp kabobs and 2 had salmon. Both were excellent. Shrimps were huge and delicious over rice. Salmon portions were also quite large...my husband substituted his rice for grilled veggies which were outstanding (extra $5 for substituting). The only negative was that it is very noisy. If you are a group of more than 4 people you will not be able to carry on a conversation. Maybe lunchtime is less hectic. Haven't been for lunch, so really don't know. Maybe because it was a Sat. nite?? Perhaps midweek is less noisy."

  • "Rumi's is my out-of-town daughter's favorite..a must stop when she's here. As usual, the evening did not disappoint. Our favorites are the eggplant appetizer and the Cornish hen kabob with the rice with orange peel and pistachios. The complimentary plate of walnuts, olives, radish, feta and herbs with their wonderful hot pita is also outstanding,"

  • "Rumi's has become not only my favorite Persian restaurant in Atlanta but one of my favorite restaurants of any kind in Atlanta! It's helpful that it is located near my office so I enjoy the delicious food and handsome waiters quite often. Arrive hungry because you will be pleasantly full when you leave!"

  • "We love Rumi's! We enjoyed the food at other location but the new location is so much nicer, room between tables and is just great looking. The staff is very well trained and polite a real winning combination."

  • "I've been here a few times for dinner, but went here recently for a business lunch. The complimentary pita and plate of feta cheese/walnuts/mint/saffron/olives is undeniable good. We also got the hummus and eggplant for appetizer. It was delicious. I ended up getting the Koobideh Kabob which was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Although, i ended up only eating a 1/3 of it since i got very full from all the pita and hummus! However, it took FOREVER for the main plates to come out. If you're coming here for lunch, make sure you have at least 1.5hrs ~ 2hrs to spare. We got there at 12:15 and didn't leave under 1:45. Not sure why it took so long for the food to come out when the restaurant was half empty. "

  • "My friend and I had a lovely dinner here. Food was great quality and quantity (lunch for the next day), service was EXCELLENT. Noise level was high--would not recommend for a romantic dinner. Bar service was a bit slow, but nice wine list. Definitely would go again."

  • "Our server made the evening She was great waitress "

  • "The restaurant was out of 2 basic appetizers; garbanzo beans and arugula salad. The waitress mentioned they had been out of the garbanzo salad for 2 weeks. The cucumber tomato salad had an excessive amount of parsley in it. The sea bass was good but the lamb was very bland. The presentation of the plates were not inviting with piles of rice covered with raisins. The ice cream sandwich desert was inedible we had to send it back. Our check came and the waitress charged us for the arugula salad they were out of. Overall not a great experience we will not recommend this restaurant."

  • "Great service without being overbearing. Best execution of Chilean Sea Bass in Atlanta. Really well done menu. My only wish is that they would introduce some new flavors every once and a while. "
