Rue Dumaine60th Birthday DinnerMy wife and I celebrated her birthday with our first visit to RD. Molly, our waitress, was wonderful and made our visit all the more pleasant.
The food was very good. We both had trout and enjoyed the pleasing aroma as the food was brought to the table on those wonderful warm plates.
We shared the cheese appetizer as well as the chocolate gelato for dessert...both were great choices.
The suggested Cabernet was also quite good, too.
It was a pleasant way to celebrate a special birthday!
Thank you.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AM5 Star Plus!Dining at Rue Dumaine is always a treat. The food we had this time was exceptional. Anne and her team create wonderful offerings with the best ingredients which are sourced locally whenever possible. We drive an hour+ to Rue Dumaine and we are never disappointed.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat as always!!!Great food and owner/chef came to our table to ask how our meal was tasting. Save room for a fantastic desert.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA Feast for "All the Senses"Food presentations are artistic and beautiful! Normally, my spouse likes me to take pictures. But I smell the wonderful aromas, I admire the presentation, and the next thing I know my mouth is happy and my plate is empty. Rue Dumaine satisfies all the senses and my taste buds hold the memory longest, because I forget to take pictures. I enjoy introducing my friends to what has become the delight of my month.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMArguably one of Dayton's bestArguably one of Dayton's best restaurants we were not disappointed our lasted (but never our last) visit. Often full, open table gave us the confidence we could get a table for two (very cool). Picking up that we desired a relaxed well-paced dinner our server allowed us to finish our drinks at our pace (very cool). Arugula salad...simple...very tasty. We both had the Friday night duck paired with glasses of the Burgess - amazing. Chocolate gelato for two wrapped up the evening. What a great dining experience. Dayton is blessed to have Chef Anne and Tom in town. Their relentless attention to detail balanced with a desire for a friendly, comfortable experience make each visit looking forward to the next visit.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMBest meal we have had in aBest meal we have had in a very long time. They even printed our own "Happy Anniversary" menu.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is probably the bestThis is probably the best food in our area and we enjoy coming here for the consistently delicious menu.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe menu is limited but excellentThe menu is limited but excellent quality and a choice to suit everyone. Would definitely go back and take other people.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best dining experienceThe best dining experience for years between Dayton and Cincy. The food was out of this world great.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Food, Good FeelingsThis is a treasure trove of good food
and good feelings. I have brought many
friends and will continue to share this find
with others.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food & service.Very good food & service. Food did take a little long to arrive.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went here to try someplaceWe went here to try someplace new for my husband's birthday since it was highly rated. We both thought the food was excellent, but my husband was a little disappointed that they only had one choice of steak on the menu (& not a cut that he wanted), so if you're in the mood for something in particular I recommend you check out the menu on their website prior to going there. However, what we did select was fabulous. Another good "feature" is that they have all their gluten-free items marked. Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive. Two things that could have been better: 1) they 1st tried to seat us in the busiest walkway even though there were many open tables & 2) the tables were close together so not the most romantic.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMPrix Fixe a Steal!Once again, Anne and krewe come through with a memorable dinner. The three course Thursday prix fixe is a steal at $30.00 (price may vary). This weeks included sweetbreads atop potato appetizer, grilled quail main course and a Meyer lemon crepe stuffed with lemon curd. Beware though and make a reservation for no later than 7:00pm as the prix fixe sells out early. Dead reliable and possibly the best in Ohio.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways excellent food. ReasonableAlways excellent food. Reasonable portion size. Quality food.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best Trout Amandine IThe best Trout Amandine I have ever had. Everything was delicious from cocktails thru coffee. In fact the coffee was the best I've had outside Costa Rica.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI love Rue Dumaine and eatI love Rue Dumaine and eat there every time I am in Dayton. I live in the Bay Area and if Rue Dumaine was here, it would be a regular treat for me.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful dinner. We had a wonderful dinner. Everything was cooked perfectly and absolutely wonderful.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMIi is clear why Chef AnneIi is clear why Chef Anne Kearney has been a close runner in the James Beard Best Chef competition, Great Lakes Region for three years running. Foodies will love it, yet it retains an "unstuffy", comfortable ambiance. Wine aficiandos will be pleased also. A treasure to have the "Rue" close by.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AM50/50 Hit and MissWe ordered a nice bottle of wine and then started with the L'assiette du charcuterie which was just "okay." There was toast, one meat product, mustard, a relish & tiny pickles, not an assortment like most charcuterie plates. I ordered the house salad which would have had absolutely no flavor except for the blueberries they put on it this particular night. My husband ordered the soup of the day which was Barley, leek, rutabaga & ham and it was absolutely lovely. For the main course Hubby had the special;Bacon wrapped Quail and it was gorgeous. I had Pork Tenderloin and there was so much salt on the meat & the spinach that it gagged me. The sweet potato Yukon gratin was very nice. Too "iffy" for a 40min drive. We expected more.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMwe had a wonderful time everythingwe had a wonderful time everything was perfect & enjoyable !!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMRue Domaine is in an unlikelyRue Domaine is in an unlikely location, but don't let that fool you. It is a lovely establishment. They have a wonderful bar with fine spirits to go with an very good wine list. The mixologist who I met knew her wine and spirits. Food is very seasonal, wonderfully prepared and beautifully presented. The service is excellent.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWow!We went there to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The experience was wonderful. Great food and service. We have been to Paris this was as good as any food we had there. We'll be back.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Diner. Pricey but worth it.Could not have been more satisfied. Food, service, and ambiance was excellent. When we asked for wine advise, it was the charming co-owner (and chef's husband), who appeared at table-side and served as our sommelier. It was our anniversary, so we shot the works- cocktails, appetizer, entrees, wine, and dessert. That is to say, that over the course of our leisurely 2 1/2 hour dining experience, we saw a good sampling of that evening's offerings, and can say with confidence that this is top-shelf french cuisine. And the chef uses seasonal and often locally produced ingredients. Definitely pricey, but absolutely worth it. For a more moderately priced experience, we intend to return on prix fixe menu night. Dayton is lucky to have Rue Dumaine.3/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
