Diner Reviews
  • "Loved the chocolate and almond croissants they gave for free while we waited for our meal on a busy Sunday."

  • "Everything we have ordered from the menu has been excellent. One specific item, while this us by no means a burger joint, they gave one of the best burgers in town. It is served with authentic pome frites."

  • "Attentive, professional and courteous servers, a wonderfully eclectic menu, a kitchen that delivers on its promise, all at a price I'd consider more than reasonable for Manhattan; what more could we ask for? We had dinner last Friday night, followed by brunch on Saturday, and will most definately return the next time we are in the city!"

  • "I prefer tuna tartare to what I ordered!! (Salad nicoise -too vinegary dressy)"

  • "Excellent French brasserie conveniently located in midtown. Only word of caution: during Manhattan rush hour, the noise level is off the charts. Once the traffic and buses and outdoors bedlam have subsided, and it gets quieter (say around 7:30), this place becomes a charming and delicious dining spot. Their roast chicken is particularly wonderful; perfectly cooked and served with crunchy haricot vert greenbeans. Great hand cut french fries, too. Friendly service helps, as well. The staff will go out of their way to seat you where you're most comfortable. I'll definitely go back there again."

  • "I've been going to this restaurant for years. It is still as vibrant a scene as when it first opened. The menu is extensive, I've never had a bad meal. The sushi is really good, very fresh. The truffle fries are amazing. Desserts are awesome. There are alot of different people to be seen here, from tourists to locals to business guys in suits, but they all blend together harmoniously. Lunch and dinner, there is always a full house. Can't go wrong here."

  • "Love this place. Great food and consistent service. Its a little too noisy and the tables are too close to each other."

  • "Business lunch to celebrate our summer interns. Waiter was spot-on with everything. Everyone enjoyed their food. Noise level is very high, however, the place is popular and was packed."

  • "The food was exceptional and the drinks weren't bad either. We had a table in the doorway which was like indoor/outdoor eating midday. It was great!"

  • "Great speacial brwakfast place - great menu and beautiful ambience. Our server was amazing."

  • "We were visiting NY and staying at the Peninsula. They recommended Rue 57 as it's only 2 blocks away. It's in a perfect location right on 6th avenue (and 57th, hence the name), and feels like a little cafe in Paris. There are a few tables outside but we chose to sit inside due to the heat. The service was great. We had the Grilled Cheese and fries. Sounds simple but it was SO good. We went back for brunch and it was just OK but definitely not bad, otherwise I'd rate 5 stars! Will definitely return."

  • "Lunch on July 4th, everything about it was fantastic, burger with truffle fries out of this world. Excellent service."

  • "I went with my gf for the first time for a dinner. Must say the shrimp tempura, dumplings and mini kobe burgers are a must have. Our service was great!!. We literally received our food 5 minutes after odering it and our waiters were very attentive to us. Great place to go with a date, friends or family. Will deft be going back!."

  • "the service was SO poor that I will not be back. Maybe it was just a fluke - I have had no complaints before - but it is not worth the chance. In a quality restaurant, there should not be good nights/bad nights or good food/bad food. Consistency is key."

  • "Early morning breakfast in New York City with all of the doors open was nearly outdoor dinning. It didn't hurt that Pierce Brosnan showed up for breakfast either. Excellent coffee, fine pastries and a breeze. Lovely"

  • "We were 8 at brunch and everyone was happy. The kids had small burgers and the adults had lots of choices. However, Bloody Mary's had to be sent back till they were right but small problem when all else was terrific."

  • "It's a bit too noisy but not unbearable. I wish there were a way to give a rating half-way between moderate and energetic!"

  • "Ordered the salade Nicoise with no eggs, got the eggs, which I removed as I didn't trust the kitchen - as I wanted no egg in my salad! Server served the salad with the eggs, and then recalled I had asked without the eggs - frankly, she appeared to be more attentive than that. So this is why the rating of only three stars - could have been 4..."

  • "We enjoyed Rue 57 for breakfast with the family recently and it was perfect! Menu was varied and had something for everyone, seating was great and they accommodated a large party on short notice. The service was attentive, and the ambiance was wonderful!! We will go back for dinner!"

  • "Whenever in New York as a family we always have brunch at Rue 57. Unfortunately our overall experience was very disappointing. Service was poor and food was not at the usual standard. Our waiter was inattentive and did not seem to care when our food took 40 minutes to arrive. Not once did he inquire as to our needs or satisfaction. Our whole area seemed to be looking for our server."

  • "Location is convenient to everything and you are sure to get a meal that is consistently good. Prices are good-not a tourist rip off. Interesting people and the service makes you feel comfortable and not rushed."

  • "Good Mid Town spot for friendly relaxed lively atmosphere. Mix of couples and groups. Good for steak and truffle fries and tuna tartare. Reasonable prices and decent service. I am a return customer."

  • "The ambiance is fine, but it is far too noisy...the room downstairs is more quiet and lovely, but was not being utilized. One could not hear the other people at your table. It was quite disconcerting."

  • "Had a farewell to NYC dinner with age 30 kids, as our visit to see our son was over. Hard to choose what to get from the various menu items as they all appeared good. I had a Kobe meatloaf which was really good with green beans and truffle potatoes. Meatloaf had barbq sauce, which was super. Son had a chicken dish with a double handle name which was very good. I also tasted my daughters blue crab dish and wife's sea bass. Both tasted funny to me, but I think it was the barbq sauce as wife and daughter raved about both and they are picky. My son also had some mushroom soup which I tasted and it was superb. We shared a cheesecake for desert and it was fab. Server excellent. Sounds/looks like Sean Hannity."

  • "Rue 57 is the 'hang out' for my friend from abroad and me. Despite the busy dinner crowd it lets us linger over wine, food, and more food. It is an active fun place that causes us to come back time and again (not only with her but in general). The friendly, non pushing staff deserves an extra commendation. We will be back very soon."

  • "Whenever we are in NYC, we eat a meal at Rue57. The food is always delicious. We enjoy the omelettes, pancakes and french toast. We love the atmosphere, the service and the great location."

  • "Great menu but our server didn't know what was what on the menu. For example, we asked what cheese was in the grilled cheese. She didn't know but guessed maybe provolone. Based on the other ingredients, I highly doubted provolone was in there but we couldn't be too sure so we avoided it. The waitress made no effort to find out what the cheese was but I'd think this is something she should know? Forgot little things like ketchup and what not. "

  • "The food at Rue 57 is very good. The brunch menu makes this a great spot for a Sunday brunch. It's a great place to bring friends or out of town visitors. "

  • "our waiter sort of disappeared and it took a long time for our food to come, or to get any refills on our iced tea, soda and water, which is particularly odd for midtown NYC during lunch hours. my guest had short rib sliders which were uneventful, and I had a turkey burger, which was okay, but nothing to write home about."

  • "Rue 57 continues to deliver the highest quality dining experience. Although the neighborhood has many restaurants, I always find myself returning here because I know it will not disappoint. For a business dinner or a night out with friends - the food and service are always excellent, and relaxing decor feels more like Paris than NYC. We always have a great time. I haven't written an Opentable review in a long time, but I just had to praise this place. "

  • "I continue to be VERY impressed by the food, the ambiance, and the attentive restaurant staff. The prices are reasonable for upscale NYC dining, and a real value when you account for how great the experience is. PS. the Fries are a MUST! Enjoy!"

  • "We made a reservation at Rue 57 because it was close to our hotel & our feet were tired of walking. It was pretty noisy & the tables were very close together, but it was a friendly crowd. Zack our waiter was great - always on top of things & there when you wanted him. We had the popcorn shrimp that he recommended & they were yummy! My husband had the filet & I had the sea bass - both were really really good. We also had the valrhona chocolate cake for dessert & it was lovely with all sorts of accompaniments. Wine list was good, we made friends with the two tables next to us. Lovely last night in New York City. We would definitely go again!"
