The Captain's room is our favorite place to dine but the front and back are also lovely. Two of us had beautiful 5 oz. lobsters for lunch with crisp and yummy green beans and rice pilaf. Our other diner had golden, crisp, yummy cod fish and chips. The wait person happily switched out fries for a baked potato! That kind of willingness to please is so refreshing. We were celebrating a birthday so our wait person surprised the birthday boy with complimentary (and delicious) chocolate mousse. Yes, we realize it is a Lobster House, but have found no better Prime Rib meal for quality and consistency than at Rudy's.

We always have our meeting after lunch, so we asked for seating in the back so it would be quieter. Our wait staff was great, very helpful and served us quickly. That's been our experience in the past.
We've solved this problem by heading to the venerable Rudy's Hideaway as we enjoy the food (it's quite expensive on Christmas and Mother's Day but the food is delicious and they package a 3-course meal with limited selections like lobster tail and king crab legs and steak - or turkey dinner on Christmas). Diners can select soup or salad and can choose baked potato, garlic mashed, rice pilaf or green beans. Dessert is something simple and light, such as chocolate-covered strawberries.

But RUDY'S is one of those gems that still shines bright as an undying bastion of the "old Sacramento"! It is rich with great food and a wonderful ambiance. Couple that with a classy business attitude and expert service, quality must follow. You will walk away with good memories, anniversary or not. I remember saying to myself as we left, "Well, I got that one right!"....

We went to Rudy's 30 years ago when we were dating but it got sort of shabby and run down and we stopped going there. Then our neighbors told us of this great NEW place called Rudy's and so now we went back. Ron was our waiter and they accommodated the wheelchair and all of our requests.
