Rudi's PortsmouthRudi's Portsmouth is worth the tripI travel between Boston and Portland, Maine to visit family, we occasionally pick a place half way between our destination to stop for dnner.
The food and atmosphere was great, jazz music and the dinning area was set up so we were not too close together with other tables.
The extra plus was free parking.
We will return.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA culinary gemRudi's has an varied and interesting menu. The food was delicious, and served hot.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMbest brunch I've hadI'm not usually a brunch fan, but we had brunch at Rudis on Sunday and it was awesome. There was a nice selection of brunch and lunch type items. I had a Tuscan omelet, which I really enjoyed. There were 2 musicians playing light jazz which gave the brunch atmosphere a very classy touch. It's a great choice for brunch and the parking is always a real plus too.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMInteresting MenuMenu is not extensive but has a good variety. Portions were a good size but not too big. Food was well prepared.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMA favorite of ours...We have been here many times for brunch and it is always great. The menu features a good variety and there are usually very creative specials. The service is excellent, friendly and attentive.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the Market Street bar/lounge.Loved the Market Street bar/lounge. Had a wonderful dinner in the main dining room - excellen lobster mushroom crepe. Great music and atmosphere. Would recommend and plan to go back.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSomething SpecialOn the strength of one visit, my wife and I consider this is one of the most satisfying restaurants we know. The main dining room is handsome and intimate, the acoustics are wonderful, and the food is exceptionally good. Our waitress, Angela, was attentive throughout and extremely helpful when asked for advice. An excellent pianist played in the background. We literally cannot wait to return.
The only caveat is that the lay-out of the establishment is peculiar. A cozy bar, known for some reason as the Market Cafe, opens off of Congress Street. The formal entrance to restaurant is around behind, off the back of the building.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meeting lunchtime meetingGreat meeting lunchtime meeting spot between Portland and Boston. Lobster roll in a croissant is sinful. Ambiance is quiet - perfect for extended visiting without disruption of noise. Both times I ate here in the last two weeks the wait staff patiently let me and my old friends visit at our own pace - never interrupting or suggesting that it was time to leave.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMRarely do I go out to eatRarely do I go out to eat because I usually am disappointed with the food. I was not disappointed T Rudis. The food was great. The only fault I found was the sangria was bland and watered down because of too much ice.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently excellentGreat atmosphere and food. Service also excellent. Salads were among best ever in similar restaurants. Only complaint - swordfish, while tasty was pared with pilaf which made for a rather uninteresting dish to look at. Monk tail special was delicious as well. Very enjoyable overall!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, amazing service.Great food, amazing service. We love this place everytime.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food but noisy enviromentGreat food and would recommend. Just not the best place for a conversation. I would recommend Rudi's for an amazing dining eperience.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFour of us dined at Rudi'sFour of us dined at Rudi's Saturday night, and all thought food was outstanding. I had the swordfish loin, and it absolutely was the best swordfish I ever ate. The 2 men had the rack of lamb, which was huge and delicious. Our woman friend had the ribeye and remarked on how good it was. Not cheap, but definitely worth going.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMHas become a Favorite!A great place to introduce friends to the Portsmouth dining experience.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food and nice jazz ensemble.Good food and nice jazz ensemble. Rudi's truly gives the other restaurants a run for their money and remains my favorite place in Portsmouth.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and serviceExcellent food and service from start to finish. Its our first time at Rudi's but we will be back!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMSaturday before EasterWe had 6pm reservations on the Saturday before Easter. We were the only people in the dining room until almost 7:00. Very quiet and relaxing after the lively place we'd gone the night before. I had broiled scallops (4) with risotto. Both were cooked perfectly and were delicious. My husband had the rib eye and rated it a 5. Roasted beet salad and chicken satay appetizers were also very good. Dinner for 2 w/1 cocktail and two apps ran us about $90. Service was good (but it was quite slow when we were there).3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMRudis continues to be my favoriteRudis continues to be my favorite place for lunch in Portsmouth...good food, great atmosphere, they have it all and on-site parking.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMEach time we have eaten atEach time we have eaten at Rudi's it has been a great experience. The food3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI hadn't been to Rudi's inI hadn't been to Rudi's in a very long time....over 5 year at least. I took my sisters' out for a B-Day dinner. The selection was very good although I knew that from visiting the website. Our waitress, Erin was the best :).
Yes, I would definitely go back.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMCould be a romantic spot dependingCould be a romantic spot depending on the time of evening due to the bar noise3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a nice time, great meal,Had a nice time, great meal, and will definitely go back. it's also located right next to a parking garage, so that helps.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food and service.Outstanding food and service. Wanted something special for our anniversary night and this fit the bill.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother wonderful dining experienceAnother wonderful dining experience at Rudi's and a couple of fabulous new additions to the menu--although I tend to order 'specials' as they are chef's favorites and are never disappointing. Nicole is one of the reasons we come back to Rudi's time and time again for business lunches. She is attentive, friendly and spot on with rcommendations. Erin is the reason we come at night! She's fun, vibrant and welcoming.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was good, but for meFood was good, but for me was not up to its usual standards. The panko encrusted chicken was just too loaded with the bread crumbs. Had to dig the chicken out of the breading. Everything else was good though.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
