Diner Reviews
  • "It's was the first time going to this restaurant and the service very good and the food delicious"

  • "We came here for a dinner our last night in Salt Lake City. The steak was good, as was the salmon. Had lots of attention from the staff."

  • "Nice place with a nice rustic feel with western type decorations. I don't recall seeing any TVs so it might not be the place to go to watch the game. I thought it had some nice dim mood lighting for a special occasion or just to relax. The service was pretty good with friendly waiters and waitresses. I wish he would have told me he was going to charge me extra just to put bacon or something on my potato. We went here for our 5 year anniversary and had a good time. I thought the new york strip was quite good with a lot of flavor. It seemed comparable to outback and certainly better than Chiles or Texas Roadhouse. It was a bit pricey. I would probably pay a fair bit less at Outback for comparable food."

  • "When we arrived at the restaurant, the hostess had no record of our reservation. She acted like they don' use Open Table. We were celebrating a birthday and mentioned this to our server when seated but no effort was made to make our dinner special."

  • "My wife and I have been to Ruby River several times for our anniversaries over the years because the food is wonderful, the atmosphere is pleasant,( not too loud), and the service has always been very good. We will definitely go back in the future."

  • "very tasty. Nice tender steak well seasoned. Baked yam was like butter! Open Table reservation had not been received."

  • "They did not have my reservation. They did manage to get us in fairly quickly but knew nothing about my reservation and did not care about my reservation number."

  • "We loved being able to pick our table and time. We walked right in and the food was to die for!!! We absolutely LOVE Ruby River!!!"

  • "The food at Ruby River was good. Steaks were cooked properly and the potato was one of the best I have had at a steak house. The Salad was a little sad and the bread served was too thick and doughy to be truly delicious. Additionally, their beer selection was poor. But overall the experience was satisfactory. I will say that Ralph, our waiter, was outstanding and more than pleasant and fun to interact with. Thank you Ruby River!"

  • "Worst steak I've ever had. Steak soup was too salty. Coconut shrimp was good as well as the vegetables (baked potatoe, mushrooms, broccoli,etc...)"

  • "It was a bit of a let down. I do not normally select restaurants like Ruby River for special occasions, but i was tired after a long day of Birthday stuff, so I gave it a try. My partner's steak and food was cooked just right for him. My steak came out way over cooked and the sides seemed to lack quality. I don't feel for the money i would be likley to return. Our server did do a very good job."

  • "The jacketed baked potato is a must if you like things deep fried! Steak was pretty good as well and the service was great!"
    Dined on 2/14/2013
  • "Very nice, we return there for the food and reliability of service. Only one thing this time we were concerned about. The waiter had no knowlege of Open Table and asked the Manager who said he didn't either. It is linked right on their website. I was inquiring how we get the Open Reservation points, how do we if they don't recognize you?"

  • "I absolutely love this restaurant. For the price, you can't beat the quality of the food and the service is always excellent. My steak is always perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the appetizers are delicious."

  • "The service and atmosphere were fine, but the food was awful. I had the wedge and it had an overtone of pineapple that did not fit. My prime rib was uninspired. They deep fry the baked potatoes in a sweet cinnamon batter that overpowers everything. I won't return and would suggest you go anywhere for steak but Ruby River."

  • "The atmosphere was perfect. It was very comfortable inside and scenic. The food was delicious and the service was great. It was my wife's and mine first time there, and it wont be our last. I would have to say this is currently my favorite steak house. Love it and can't wait to go again!"

  • "The service and food were both excellent. It was a special occasion for a friend's birthday and the staff couldn't have been nicer and more attentive. The birthday dessert was a nice surprise."

  • "This was not at all what it was built up to be or what we expected. Should have known when we made the reservation and they still took 45 min to seat us, taking people who came in 30 min after us without a reservation first. Waitress was very friendly but food was just mediocre and restaurant was very loud."

  • "While the food was good, and the service was good, the inital seating experience left something to be desired. I made reservations a week in advance for 6:00pm on a Thursday night for 11 people. When we arrived at 10 minutes to six, the hostess gave me a blank look when I told her we were the party of 11 for 6:00pm. They had no idea. So either Open Table didn't tell them we were coming, or Ruby River really dropped the ball. It took them upwards of 10 minutes to get the table set up. I'm not quite sure what took so long since there were only 10 or 15 other people in the place."

  • "Seems an odd place to be on Open Table. I was looking for a good steak that was less than The Capital Grille or Morton's but better than Roadhouse. This place is kind of a Roadhouse. The food was good and the pail of peanuts on the table was a nice touch. They really missed making the steaks to the proper doneness. I got medium for a medium well and my buddy's medium filet was barely in the rare range. The center of his was raw and bloody. We both worked our way around what was too underdone but they would be well advised to make sure the cook's know how to measure doneness."

  • "They easily accommodated a group of 11. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The wine list was short but had a couple good choices. The value was outstanding. The prime rib was good, but not great, but the sourdough bread, the creamed spinach and the garlic mashed potatoes were excellent."

  • "My wifes steak was cooked right, but it was a good thing we did not take the servers advice on how to order it. I tried to ask for my prime rib rare,it came medium, and was dry it was a good thinkg that I had the au jus. If it is normally cooked right i do not need the au jus, just the horseradish. I must say that i get better prime rib at the early bird special at Archibald's at gardner village for cheaper. maybe i should go with the steak next time."

  • "Overall good and the service was outstanding the waitress was also very nice"

  • "I'm surprised this is an open table. It's really in the catagory of Chile's or Red Robin...."

  • "My husband and I love Ruby's steaks and appitizers. Best around and this is coming from a family that raise there own beef and know what a good steak is."
    Dined on 8/20/2012
  • "I found the steak, a T-bone, to be excellent and cooked perfectly. The service was just short of outstanding. Very friendly and attentive. Just what I wanted and expected in a western steak house"
    Dined on 8/16/2012
  • "The service plates..black ones made eating the meals cery difficult...the main plates were hot, very hot but having put them in the service plates...they kept sliding all around. Cutting food was difficult...in fact a piece of steak went flying on to the floor because the plate slid around so much. Also, the Tuscany Chicken was not as good as I expected it to be...could have been a bit more spicy"

  • "the atomosphere was ok and the food was what you would expect for a place like this. The service was not up to par and the noise level was quite high for the dining room area. Would not reccomend this for a evening out with freinds."
    Dined on 8/3/2012
  • "I found the service to be jovial and with a good sense of humor, and the food was excellent. While our initial appetizer was out, the waitress recommended a substitute, which was the superb, a coconut shrimp with orange dip. Dim lighting, cowboy-themed decor, and buckets of bar peanuts while ordering. Great place for a quiet and romantic meal for any occasion."
