Ruby Foo's - Times SquareService was very efficientService was very efficient - almost too much so. I would have liked to relax and sit a little bit more. Service was a little rushed.
Food was great. I loved the shrimp tempura roll. Pad Thai was excellent also.
Cocktail was pretty watery. I ordered the Ruby Foo cocktail which was supposed to have vodka, sake and cranberry/pineapple juice. I'm really not sure there was any liquor in it. Not much juice either.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFun location and good foodWe actually ate here twice on our trip mostly because of the location. My food was excellent both nights. My sister had some soggy breading on her fish one night but she loved the sushi. Overall a good experience.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous experienceMy mom and I brought my aunt and cousin from out of town here for a birthday dinner. It was the perfect choice. Great service from the minute we walked in to the minute we left. Food was delicious and even had gluten free options. Cocktails were also delicious, and we had the sampler for dessert which was great to share. Loved Ruby Foo's and I will definitely be back soon!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner and a ShowRuby Foos, Pan Asian, was great in feeding us and getting us out in time to get to our show. Waitress went over and above when I accidentally ordered a dish that had sea food which I can't eat. My mistake but she was gracious and quickly had it remade without sacrificing flavor. Service was great and so was the show.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMPre-TheaterWhile I had eaten here on several previous occasions, my two friends had not, and are not as adventurous as I. I made this reservation because I knew the food was good, it would satisfy my foodie personality and it was close to the theatre. We let the wait staff know we had a theater ticket and their service was outstanding. At no time did we feel rushed by the staff, they were prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable about the menu and the portion sizes. I also knew that my friends could find something that would appeal to them as not all Asian food is familiar to non-foodies. I would recommend Ruby Foo's to anyone visiting NYC who wants something a little different but not totally out of bounds.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMloved it!I took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner, and we loved it! They called me earlier in the day to inform me that the electric in the building was down, and could only serve salad and sushi, but called back later on to ensure me that the problem was fixed. Although a few items were taken off the menu due to the electrical problem, we still had a great time and our server was awesome! Will definitely be going back there again.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic with familyMy two daughters and four granddaughters and I ate after seeing Wicked based on the recommendation of two of the granddaughters who had eaten there several years earlier. The granddaughters (ages 7 - 10) completed journals each evening rating the various restaurants - they each gave you rave reviews. We adults agreed. The girls loved the origami table and our server went out of his way to make it a memorable evening. The complimentary cheesecake squares at the end of the meal capped a delightful experience.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI always stop at Ruby FoosI always stop at Ruby Foos once during my trips and it never fails. They always have great service and new menu items to try. They are especially convienant if your goo g to a show, they make small to go snacks!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMNever FailsMy mom and I visit NYC every couple of years and we always visit Ruby Foos. The food is always excellent (we are obsessed with the coconut sticky rice and teriyaki chicken) and the ambiance is wonderful. The location is also perfect because we always start our trip touring Times Square. It definitely is the best restaurant in Times Square!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, and even better serviceGreat food and service. I couldn't have been happier.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost ExcellentRuby Foos was the sight of our graduation lunch, and it was a great choice. The food was delicious, and my teenage sons devoured everything. The only drawback was upon our entrance, where we were given 2 menus for 5 people, and the menus were missing an entire page. Also, the server just handed us our place settings, instead of setting up the table for us!! Our server did give us a complimentary champagne toast, which was very nice! 9 out of 10 stars!!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGood theater district mealRestaurant is part of a big well run conglomerate of fine restaurants. Food is tasty, service is prompt. Hard to choose between the imaginative sushi and hot meals such as pad Thai. We had both and they didn't disappoint. Good portion size on pad Thai and salads.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMTime square surpriseHad a business dinner with 2 coworkers and we were pleasantly surprised. Good food attentive staff and great atmosphere.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for kids and adultsMenu allowed for all tastes.
Kids could get chicken fingers but also fried rice.
Adults were not forced to eat terrible kid style options.
Everybody in our family was VERY happy (kids 10,8&6)5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOur experience was wonderfulOur experience was wonderful - only one complaint - we mentioned to the waiter numerous times that we had tickets to a 7:00 show and he needed to be reminded to "move along" since we didn't want to be late. In the end, we only left the restaurant at 6:55 and had to "run" to the theater. He was a good waiter otherwise - offered recommendations and answered all our questions.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMComfortable Group DiningHad dinner with a group of 7 on a Monday night. We shared Dim Sum Apps which everyone was pleased with. The Wasabi Crusted Salmon was very good as was a large sushi platter that was shared. Service was friendly and attentive. Place was a bit dark - not loud (not many diners on a Monday night). Dinner was pricey but to be expected in the Times Square area.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMLoving Ruby Foo'sThis was our 2nd trip to Ruby Foos and I have to say it was just as amazing as our first time! In the hustle of NYC, I was brought her by a group of my local friends I am from upstate NY. I was amazed by the quality of food. Such a cute place, staff are gorgeous and so nice! If I could eat here 3 times a day I would. The sushi is out of this world and our favorite calamari we downed 3 bowls easily between 3 of us. So delish and definitely worth it.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways good!I have to go to Ruby Foo's every time I am in the city. I especially love the sushi, but the entrees are fabulous also. I have never been disappointed and I have tried quite a few dishes.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat go-to placeRuby Foo's....although in Times Square....is actually a pretty good go-to place. It has an Asian flair with great sushi rolls, sushimi etc, as well as duck, pork buns, pad thai, and AWESOME coconut sticky rice, amongst other delicious things. Great music is pumped throughout and it's a perfect place for big groups or a romantic dinner for two. You don't feel like a tourist when you're inside, and you don't feel like you're in the middle of Times Square. This restaurant is one of my faves.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMdelicious food! Restaurantdelicious food! Restaurant provides great, quick service if you have to make a show at a certain time.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe arrived late & they didn'tWe arrived late & they didn't give us a hard time. The hostess showed us to a table rather quickly and although it was a Saturday night & the place was packed the staff was very agreeable. We shared 2 rolls, ribs, pork dumplings and Peking duck. We ordered too much and really didn't need the duck although it was excellent. The drinks were good, no complaints.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMBrought 12-year old here withBrought 12-year old here with a gang of friends--food was surprisingly fantastic, but wait staff were exceptional despite reportedly being a bit short staffed. Pretty boisterous noise-wise, but it's Times Square!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMvery busy but service wasvery busy but service was timely
delicious food prepared quickly4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat esotic decor, wonderfulGreat esotic decor, wonderful mix of asian dishes. Took 2 out of town guests and they were "wowed"4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMguilty pleasure yen 4 Chinese FoodRuby Foo's is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. It is a cavernous restaurant in Manhattan standards so space between tables, room to breathe, with cool lighting fixtures, and Chinese faux objet d'art, comfy booths, a huge sushi bar and the nicest servers, hostess, busboys around. Their kung pao chicken is second to none. Add their amazing potstickers and dish of one of their specialty rices and you have a yummy meal that comes beautifully arranged, piping hot and mouth wateringly good. When I get a yen for Chinese food, that is where I go.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed ourselves immenselyWe enjoyed ourselves immensely and were so happy to see how kids were welcomed and provided for with games, activities, and crayons. Thank you!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat for going to book ofgreat for going to book of mormons half block away4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was delicious! ServiceThe food was delicious! Service was great! Fun place! Great restaurant to go before the show.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Times Square RestaurantThe coconut rice is amazing! The sushi speacial (mango salsa/spicy tuna) was EXCELLENT please make it a menu item! This place tends to be extremely crowded/pack, but service was very quick/organized/and flexible to diners with theater plans.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThere is rarely a trip toThere is rarely a trip to New York that doesn't find me having dinner at Ruby Foo's at least once.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA+ food, B+ atmosphere, D- serviceVery good food. Fun atmosphere, although cafeteria-like. I chose this restaurant for the children's menu. This is a great place to take kids before or after a show. They provided activities and games for the kids while we waited.
The service was a bit dissappointing. As with most restaurants the pre-show reservations begin around 6, 6:30 and the staff seemed overwhelmed. It literally took the waitress 30 minutes to tell us that the particular bottle of Sake that we ordered was not available. We asked to see the wine list again. She returned 10 minutes later to say she was on her way to get the wine list. We almost said forget it, but really wanted a drink so told her just to bring us anything similarly priced.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I brought ourMy husband and I brought our daughter and her friend for their 13th birthdays. Our server Mara(not sure of spelling) was quite attentive. She helped us surprise the girls with a favorite birthday cake.Thank you!We always enjoy going to Ruby Foo.Every time we go into the city we always go there whether it be lunch or dinner! Using the Open Table system for reservation for the first time certainly helped us. We actually got our table "on time" giving us a chance to go to other shops before our show!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMChange the music!I live in Manhattan. I see lots of theatre, concerts, etc. I had to listen to very BAD dance music throughout dinner. Yikes!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was some of the best sushiIt was some of the best sushi I have had in a long time. I am looking forward to my next trip.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Chinese and asian food.Great Chinese and asian food. took the family and everyone had a good time4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMService was great. Busy whenService was great. Busy when we arrived but seated right away as per reservation. This reservation saved us at least a 90 minute wait. Manager was great and a real pro. He had an angry customer yelling at him in front of everyone (she didn't make a reservation), however he was very professional and well mannered. I will return to this reataurant next time I am in NYC.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOUR SERVER WAS EXCELLENT,OUR SERVER WAS EXCELLENT, WE ORDERED THE APPETIZERS HE RECOMMENDED AND WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED. SERVICE WAS GREAT.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThreatre District GemRuby Foo's is consistently good considering the their size and number of meals they produce. Peking duck was cooked perfectly and the sushi well prepared. The bento box for desert was delicious. Server seemed new and needed to understand menu better. Ruby Foo's remains one of our go to restaurants in the theatre district.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMRuby Foo's never disappoints.Ruby Foo's never disappoints. Food was great. Service was great. Comfortable, cool location in Times Square. The dumplings are simply terrifc...probably the best thing on their menu. The double fried noodles with shrimp and scallops was terrific, and loaded with shrimp and scallops. I'd love to see them add some specials and some new offerings on the menu...but what is on the menu, is simply great.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI love this place. If u likeI love this place. It is expensive but the food quality is very good.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBest meal I had in New York.Best meal I had in New York. Fantastic service and great atmosphere.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMNYC night outThis was our first Dinner in NYC on a couples weekend.
