Diner Reviews
  • "Ruby Foo's may not be the best Asian restaurant around, but it is always very good, reliable and fun. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. The best way to describe the place, you can't go wrong. "

  • "Went out to eat with my boyfriend on a Friday night, the was ambiance was great and the food was great as well, the service was excellent although our waiter didn't come to our table enough, but there was.another waiter that didn't have to tend to as many tables who helped us with what we needed. I would definitely come back to ruby foos for a date night "

  • "My daughter had been to Ruby Foos last year and she wanted to treat me on my last day in NYC. It was a great meal and evening. Huge servings. The menu is fairly limited, but was very good. "

  • "Great atmosphere. Always amazing food. Always go here before a broadway show. "

  • "Why did I expect a faux Asian resto in Times Square to deliver a decent experience? Why? Being operated by a highly professional restaurant group is apparently not enough. Disappointed in the drinks, Disneyish cuisine and utter lack of any attention to detail in service (i.e. no hot towel or cheapo wet nap after serving an appetizer of the stickiest spare ribs in the Western World) I can only blame myself and guide you the unsuspecting diner to the thousand Asian restaurants you can hit by tossing a wonton in Midtown from this albeit quite central location."

  • "We have dinner here many times before, first time I had a lousy service with a lot of products "missing" from the menu."
    Dined on 4/14/2014
  • "Tasty food, unique atmosphere and the staff handle food allergies wonderfully. Asian fusion food offered enough variety for kids and adults. Great Times Square location with atmosphere that's good for locals and visitors but doesn't feel at all like a tourist trap."

  • "My wife and I always make dinner reservations at Ruby Foos in Times Square when we see a Broadway show. We love the Asian inspired decor, the upbeat energy, responsive and friendly service, and delicious pan-Asian cuisine. The restaurant is also centrally located to the theaters so we can always get to our show within minutes."

  • "Our server did not tell us prices, we were upset With our final bill, it did not reflect prices on the Menu"

  • "I thought this would be just another Time Square restaurant where they served mediocre food and drinks. I was completely wrong! The pineapple chicken fried rice was delicious and my Mai Tais were amazing!!! Will definitely be back!"

  • "Our service was terrible. Our waiter stopped by right when we were sat and said he'd be with us shortly. We didn't see him again until halfway through our meal. The hostess took our order, a runner brought our food, a bus boy had to bring forks after we waited 10 min. for them. The waiter even forgot our check after I asked. They're lucky we didn't just walk out. Food is the only reason we'd go back."

  • "We were in a bit of a hurry for our dinner and told our server as we sat down. She made every effort to get us fed and on our way. Our food was excellent and service was even better. Really great experience!"

  • "I was looking for a restaurant for our group to meet prior to seeing a Broadway show, so finding a good, reliable restaurant with the right location was my priority. Ruby Foo fulfilled my wishes. Everyone in my party of 8 enjoyed their food, the atmosphere and the convenient location. The waitstaff was very friendly and accommodating to our large group and our last-minute reservation."

  • "This used to be a pricey, tourist trap that actually had decent food. The last part is gone. We had one good dish of five, the rest were mediocre at best. Service was prompt and attentive."

  • "The kitchen is way too slow for a theatre district restaurant. We got there at about 6:15 before an 8pm show and after drinks we were about to order at 6:30 when our waiter (thankfully) warned us that the'd never get us out entries on time and we should order appetizers. Even the appetizers took almost 40 minutes and they were okay, but just okay—and overpriced. I had brought guests with me and was embarrassed. Wouldn't eat here again."

  • "Very consistent, delicious food selection, fun setting."

  • "This was a wonderful NY dining experience. Unlike many other NY theater area restaurants, you did not feel crammed in or rushed at all. After a long day of shopping and theater, it was wonderful to sit and have a long and relaxed meal. Lots of great options and price points. Highly recommended"

  • "My wife and I were looking for something right after a matinee in Time Square. I looked for vegetarian options and Ruby Foo's popped up. We walked right in, sat down and were waited on right away. The atmosphere was pretty nice although the music didn't really fit. The waitress was knowledgable about what items on the menu were veg friendly and made suggestions accordingly. The food and drinks came quickly and hit the spot. The noise level was at a decent level so I was able to have a conversation without yelling. If you're looking for a special occassion for you and that special someone, you may want to look else where. But for a quick a satisfying meal, it was good."

  • "Hadn't been to Ruby Foo's in years. Forgot how much fun it is to share lots of small plates. We had some Sushi, a Pad Thai, some vegetable dumplings. All good. And our server was young, charming and personable. What could be better before the theater."

  • "We booked a table through Open Table back in November. When we arrived for our booking, on time, we were asked to wait. And wait we did. A new table of 5 arrived and were escorted to their table immediately. We then went to ask about our table. Turns out they had forgotten about us. The newly arrived table of 5 got our lovely table by the window. We then had to wait some more, and were seated next to the loo entrance. By then we were in a rush to get to the theatre on time. Raced through dinner and made it to the theatre just in time. Not the experience we had expected. No apology from the host at the entrance either. Will not be returning here in a hurry!"

  • "My friends and I wanted to meet for a pre-show dinner in nyc, we were looking for a convenient location, quiet enough to hear each other, good food, and most importantly, a place that takes reservations so that we didnt have a long wait. Ruby Foos fit the bill perfectly. We made our reservation for 6:15pm on a Sat but I really doubted that a table would be ready when we arrived. They had a table ready for us when we walked in, even though one member of our party was running late. The food was delicious, service was good, there was a bit of a wait between apps and dinner and we did have to look around for our waiter but we probably should have told him that we were going to a show. Great meal, great location, reasonable prices for nyc."

  • "Been to this restaurant before, they are very accomodating (very late for reservation which they honored anyway), good service. Food is a bit above mediocre, not for foodies, but very convenient to theaters. Would go again."

  • "I live in Trinidad and was at the restaurant on Friday 21st . I travel to NY twice a year and each time i visit Ruby Foos, i've been doing this for the past 4years. i always enjoy their food, service etc. However, i spoke to the Manager that night and found she was not very nice and never came over to our table but noticed she went to every other table to greet guests! other than her lack of hospitality the experience was still enjoyable...."

  • "Great to stop for a glass of wine and appetizer or sit and have a full meal. Always busy so if getting a meal make reservations!"

  • "The food at Ruby Foo's was good, but not enough meat to go with the noodles. Good drinks. Loud, but fun, atmosphere. Our seating was a bit tricky because we were at a corner table, surrounded by other tables and the waiter had difficulties delivering our food and drinks because of how crowded it was. But, overall, a good experience."

  • "We had a wonderful meal right before our show. We were seated immediately, and the waitress was very accommodating to our show schedule. We had a fabulous meal right before our show."

  • "It's a spacious restaurant located in the heart of Times Squares. We went during Restaurant Week so the prix fixe menu was worth trying. Otherwise, its prices are high, though expected in this area which draws a lot of tourists. The pan asian food was good, a combination of Chinese, Thai, & Japanese food: Our waiter was very knowledgeable and personable. The atmosphere was vibrant and the decor is very red.... with lantern lights hanging from the ceilings. It's a fun, vibrant atmosphere to have drinks & appetizers , and a meal with friends."

  • "Went for chinese new year, there were lots of fun activities for kids which is the reason why we went. The food is just bad. It felt like it was made hours earlier and it was lukewarm and the sauces looked like they were gel on the food. I wouldn't go back for the food."

  • "We have been having our annual exhibition team dinner here for years the Sunday before Interphex. Service is great. Love the saki and dim sum. It's now tradition and we can go to no other. Thanks for another great meal. See you next year!"

  • "my husband and I made a last minute, Sunday night, reservation and had no issues getting in. We requested a table with a view and were seated next to a window overlooking Broadway. Our server, Jess, was down to earth and on top of things."
