We are food snobs and this place lived up to it's local reputation; we left very happy. Seating is a little tight but we ended up talking to the people who were next to us and had a wonderful time. Neighborhood is a little sketchy, but we had no problems. Vacant lot across the street with plenty of parking. Server was excellent, food was great, ambiance was average. They are absolutely correct. The portions are large and the flavors and seasonings were absolutely New Orleans. The mixed drinks may not be the best but I don't want to jump to conclusions. I tried the Cajun Martini which i found to be extremely watery so i sen i back and requested it be spiced up. It offers great food in a somewhat run down looking neighborhood near the Birchmeere. The restaurant is fairly heavy on seafood with a New Orleans slant -- gumbo, crayfish and jambalaya are prominent on the menu and everything we sampled was truly wonderful. Both are perfection! Did try the catfish topped with etouffe this time -- generous portion, clean-tasting fish. Only the key lime pie was a bit wan. Polite and attentive service but never pushy or intrusive. The food is very flavorful with the spices not being overdone. The service is attentive but not overpowering. Apon entering you are greeted by the manager, Jennifer, who makes you feel welcome and appreciated for patronizing their restaurant. I am not from the Washington DC/Alexandria area, I am actually from Birmingham, Alabama, but I came back to the area just for RTs. I know that may sound crazy but it's a fact. The Acadian Peppered Shrimp and Gumbo are my favorites!!!!! This is one of my favorite restaurants in the country! I've been 3 times now and I tell everyone I know about it!
