The host (?) was dressed very casually and wasn't rude, but not warm by any means. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The Szechuan beef was like something from a mall food court. The risotto, mussels, and green beans were good, but nothing exceptional. Considering the price, not the best value.

Overpriced, and pretty mediocre - used a coupon, but still wasn't a very good value. Although the menu looks interesting enough, you could do much better by choosing any of the many other restaurants across the street.

Not large portions as it is like a dim sum or tapas menu so several dishes are meant to be shared. All the dishes from the seafood to meat were very tasty but the lamb shank and Moroccan chicken were excellent and had more "meat" to them to share. The specialty dessert was delicious and shareable. Service was top notch--friendly and attentive. Water glasses were continually full. It was a special occasion that was a real treat.

Nice little restaurant. We went with "Le Formule for two". The risotto was pretty good, mussels were fine, and Gelato was good. The szechuan steak was a disappointment - very sweet, and the meat was extremely chewy. Service was generally quite attentive, and the bar service (while slow) was good. My cocktail wasn't extraordinary, but my wife ordered a coconut drink that was fantastic. Overall, a good meal, but it won't be on my list of places to visit next time I'm in Vancouver.

We were disappointed with rtl. The eggplant dip was one of worst apetizers I have ever encountered - it was bland, mushy & tasted like it had been sitting around for some time. The szechuan steak was overcooked and I have made far better pasta at home. The best tasting item was the wild mushroom risotto which, while flavorful, was far stickier than it should have been. The night that we went, the servers were run off their feet - taking orders, attending to customers, running their own food and bussing their own tables. There were only two on that night and the restaurant was quite busy. We were sitting for 30 minutes before anyone even took our drink orders and for 2 hours until we received entrees. I definitely won't be back.

We went to r.tl with a LivingSocial deal. The deal was a little misleading: looked like it was supposed to be three courses matched with wine, but it was three "options" with a limited choice of one bottle of mediocre-quality wine. It's a great Yaletown location, but the food was not good to say the least. I called ahead of time and was assured vegetarian options were available, and was offered a noodle dish without steak (as normally served). The dish was the quality of a fast-food Chinese restaurant you might find in a food court. Sides were small and uninteresting. My partner's duck was dry and tasteless.

Tapas styled menu items were perfect portions, with enough flavour to leave you satisfied but not overstuffed. The Lamb fell off the bone, the mussels were delish (light curry broth was perfect), and the creme brulé was the best finish paired with a fresh americano.

Have been to this restaurant multiple times, each time has been progressively worse. Food was generally bad. Have not had such dry and tasteless duck confit. Tasted like microwaved KFC, although KFC has more flavor. The only thing that was remotely palatable was the saffron ice cream - I think this was store bought. No matter how I tried, I can't find anything good about this restaurant. I would like to say that maybe this was an isolated event, but on two consecutive prior visits over the last 3 months, have had similar experience. The only reason that I have kept on going was to use up coupons, but even with a free meal, I feel like I wasted my time.

It wasn't busy when we got there so it seemed a bit silly that the bread we ordered wasn't warmed up and the butter that it came with had obviously been heated and poured in to the little pot it came in because after we dug out the top of the butter there was the salty wet layer under it. We mostly went for the cocktails which were awesome but being the only customers when we got there at 5 and with two bartenders, we were surprised by how long the drinks took. We probably would have tried a few more if they had kept up the pace!

This is my second visit to this restaurant with the Living Social dining voucher, I felt a little cheating this time. We have the same food as my first visit but I have to pay extra $15 for the same food and $4 for bread which is free last visit. The wine that include with the voucher taste sour, it's Merlot from South Africa, try to avoid this one. They charge HST based on the full amount of the bill before voucher while other restaurant collect HST on the portion after they deduct the value of the voucher. Other than the things I mentioned above, the food taste really good. Waitress are super friendly. Nice place to dine out.

2nd time here and likely would not return. Our server was extremely painful to deal with. Although I did not pay much for their most recent Living Social deal, the whole experience was terrible. The chicken dish was good but the spinach salad had nothing to it, and the sides were cold and flavourless. The creme brulee didn't have long enough to set and the sugar on top was barely torched. The wine offered with the deal (although I somewhat expected this) was dreadful. There was a sign on the door that said they were shorted staffed and would not accept walk-ins (also a signal to me "don't expect good service"). And for some unknown reason a customer called the owner a very rude name as they walked out the door. All in all, a disaster.

Picked up a dealfind coupon to return to rtl (we had been once before about a year ago and hoped to repeat the great experience we had the first time). Ownership or kitchen staff must have changed as the dishes we ordered seemed to be of a completely different caliber than last time. We had the mushroom risotto - quite bland and somewhat under-cooked, the tossed szechuan steak - chewy and reminiscent of fast food chinese (stir-fried with some asian noodles), the green beans (bland - boiled with slivered raw almonds on top) and the lamb shank which was the saving grace of the meal as it was quite nicely cooked and tender. Overall, quite disappointed, especially when price is taken into account. Good service but bad value for the money.

We attended RTL on a Living Social coupon. Unfortunately the sliding door appears to only open from the inside and we were left on the sidewalk until the hostess came to let us in. The coupon rules were explained to us and the food was excellent. The dinner came with a reasonable bottle of wine as well. Throughout the evening, cutlery was clattering on the floor around the restaurant as it is poorly designed for the shape of the plates. It is virtually impossible to place a knife and fork on a plate between bites. We thought it was just our table but apparently not. I was not impressed with being presented with a bill for a tip. Tipping is purely discretionary based on service.

Decor was modern and clean. Service was attentative. Full but not crowded on a Friday night. Food was well prepared. Portions were a little small for a tasting menu for two. Tasting included a table wine, which was nice. Mid-town food at Yaletown prices. I would NOT discourage trying r.tl; but, personally, there are other places I'm going to try first at this price point before we return to r.tl
