Diner Reviews
  • "The place is hopping, I made the reservation 4 months out to get a table at 7PM. We were greeted and wished a Happy Anniversary. Had to wait a little while for our table, so enjoyed a cocktail at the bar. When seated it was probably in the quietest spot available, we could talk comfortably. The wines are a little expensive. The menu is easy to follow, difficult to deceide what to eat, everything sounds delicious. The desserts were sinful. They gave us glasses of sparking wine and little cones for our anniversary. The staff is wonderful, working very hard, and Steven, our waiter tended to every question and want we had, and made us feel special. This place will be difficult to get into for months to come, but it will be worth it."

  • "RPM is a great spot for a late night dinner after a vigorous day on the Mag Mile! We sat at the bar and lots of appetizers and wine; thoroughly enjoying the end of our weekend in Chicago!"

  • "I was in Chicago for business but had to try this restaurant out. I had high expectations, but was blown away by how delicious my meal was. I ordered the burrata as an appetizer and it was so delicious! I also ordered Mama DePandi's bucatini and it was the best pasta I have ever eaten. It was cooked perfectly, and more importantly, the pomodoro sauce didn't overwhelm the dish. I would go here again in a heartbeat. I sat at the bar and got great service, and it's great for people watching. Beautiful restaurant."

  • "We went to RPM with friends for a kid-free night & it was perfect! The ambience is great - sleek modern decor, upbeat atmosphere. The food was wonderful! May other reviews complainted about the small portion size of the pasta but our waiter explained to us at the beginning that the pasta dishes are smaller & intended to be side dishes for the entree. The fried ravioli appetizer & the meatballs were a bit hit with everyone at our table. If you're looking for good Italian food at a place where you can talk & laugh this is it!"

  • "Was in Chicago for the weekend & have been wanting to try RPM for awhile now. Had a 6:30pm reservation, got right in and sat at a table near a corner. Was great because we could see everything going on in the restaurant. The décor was trendy, our waiter was wonderful & new a lot about the menu & drink selections. My husband and I tried appetizers, entrees & a dessert. Everything was delicious. I wish I lived closer to go back!"

  • "After being received by the host with a bit of an attitude, the rest of the experience was fabulous. The service was great and they sure have a lot of staff and various employees floating around. The menu choices were broad and varied and priced reasonably for the portion size. We tasted the fried ravioli which had a zest of lemon which made them extra tasty, the mini pizzas were yummy, and the pastas top notch and definitely homemade! The ambiance was nice although at about 6p the music was turned up to some thumping beat that did not go well with the vibe of the decor. otherwise it was a very nice and I will definitely go back!"

  • "We went for our 2 year anniversary, and were greeted with a congratulations from the host. Once seated, our server also congratulated us and brought two glasses of champagne. Our server had great suggestions, and we had two apps (gorgonzola figs & carpaccio), a pasta (cavatelli), and two entrees and a side (pork, veal & gorgonzola mashed potatoes) as recommended. We were well taken care of, and will DEFINITELY be back."

  • "Highly recommended by friends and acquaintances, RPM definitely delivered on overall experience. Because RPM is so popular recommend that a reservation be booked a week ahead so as not to miss out."

  • "The good: nice vibe; tasty, creative cocktails; good service and an intriguing menu. The bad: the food is decent but definitely not on par with all the hype or the prices. Most dishes were way too salty (and I like salt), others were just nothing special (despite being recommended by our waitress). The one notable exception was the squid ink pasta with crab - it was delicious enough that I'm craving it now just talking about it. I would go again for drinks and appetizers but not for dinner. Too many better options around."

  • "My husband and I wanted to visit RPM for a long time because of their reputation. We were not disappointed. The service was excellent and very attentive. The food was delicious and we left with every intention of returning. I had the prawns and my husband had the scallops with side dishes of the pea risotto, the gnocchi and the mushrooms. Everything was so flavorful and we were so happy with our choices. I am definitely recommending this restaurant to friends."

  • "Just had dinner at RPM and it was extraordinary. We were running late -- REALLY late -- and called to tell them. They said no problem and immediately sat us (with a smile) upon arrival. Our server was knowledeable, personable, and responsive to our needs. The food was excellent and worth the price. Nice of variety on the menu. Ambience was great...the place was packed but we were still able to have a great conversation (with no problems hearing each other) at the table. The restaurent also remembered that we were celebrating a birthday. I highly recommend and will be back!"

  • "Seated on time with reservation. Creative menu that delivers on quality. Service was good. Expected the room to be too loud but was pleasantly surprised. While the restaurant was full, the music and atmosphere lively, the noise level was acceptable. The real star is the food. It is outstanding and we would return to RPM."

  • "Had RPM on my radar for visiting Chicago but heard it was difficult to get a reservation and wasn't sure of my schedule. At 8 PM I found I needed to find a restaurant for 3 people and got a table for 9:15. Arrived a bit early, left my cell no. W/the desk and enjoyed a drink at the Bar with a very helpful, knowledgeable bartender who found the perfect Wine for me after offering a taste of 3! Our table was ready at the time we booked. Our dinner table was very comfortably located for conversation and Relaxation after a very busy day. The service was excellent the food delicious and well presented. A foodie friend had dined there a few days before and couldn't have been more complementary of the food, ambience and the waiter."

  • "Our 8pm reservation turned into 8:45 even though we checked in at 7:40 and told them our 3rd person was on their way. We checked in every 15 minutes and were told the tables were paying and we would be seated. Once seated, there were apologies and they brought out complimentary appetizers. The server told us there were no nuts in the appetizers, but was wrong and our guest is allergic. Manager came out to apologize. Food was good, but disappointing experience. Bar was crowded."

  • "The first time in 4 dines in the past 2 months that I was a bit disappointed with the food. Other than that the host was gracious and gave us a good table. This experience is an anomaly compared to the other incidents but one that merits taking note of."

  • "I made a birthday dinner reservation 2 weeks out from the actual day. At that time I noted that it was a birthday dinner during the reservation and I was told there is a small but thoughtful complimentary gelato birthday surprise. As true as day, the night of the dinner our wonderfully impeccable waitress, by the name of Mesha, gave no signal that she knew of the purpose of the dinner. I thought they must have forgotten. My girlfriend never got up to excuse herself to the restroom so I did not see an opportunity to mention the birthday without notifying my girlfriend about what I was up to, as she looked on with a grimace as other tables received the birthday gelato. But as soon as we were done with out meals Mesha surprise us. Thank you!"

  • "We live a block away from RPM, which is why we went to RPM right when it opened (only to sit at the bar bc it was so packed) and we have not been back since because we usually can't get a reservation during prime time weekend dinner hours. This time we got a table at 7pm on Sunday night (right by the bathroom, but whatever, we'll take it!). The restaurant has not lost it's cool vibe. The decor is nice and the service was fantastic. The food was also Dlish but we got some heavy items (perfect for Sunday night sleeping). We think the fritto misto is fantastic and the pasta was stuffed with a mushroom, cheese concoction... I don't remember the name of it, but it was tasty! We thought the shaved brussel sprout salad was just OK- not much flava."

  • "I loved the ambiance the most- it's a very classy scene, and the food doesn't necessarily have to be expensive, depending on what you order. We ordered the lobster ravioli and Mama Depandi's pomodoro, and both were delicious. Portion sizes aren't humongous, but it was more so about the experience for us."

  • "I've enjoyed quite a few items from the menu but the spaghetti and meatball is still my favorite dish. RPM is a great place for all occasions. Date night, just drinks, looking for a relaxing atmosphere, etc...RPM has it. The servers are always attentive and not overbearing."

  • "We particularly liked the burrata shredded Brussels sprouts and avocado salad and the Sicilian pork arrosti - all were excellent. The fritto misto was good, but the potato gnocchi were a bit disappointing. We always like to share our food selection and rpm Italian made that very easy. All of our selections were just the right size to share. Had a lovely time!"

  • "My wife and I wanted to try a new Italian restaurant and thought we'd give RPM a try. We were very happy we did. The food comes in smaller portions so you can order a few plates and share, not totally Tapas-like but similar. The pastas are handmade and the dishes all had good flavor. We ordered the garlic bread, for dipping, and it was good too. Since the portions were reasonable, we had room for dessert and both the cannoli and Bill's chocolate carmel pudding were worth the calories. Prices were reasonable. We spent just under a $100, with tip, for everything (no alcohol)."

  • "The food was very good and authentic. The atmosphere of the place is amazing. Our waiter however basically ignored us after taking our order, he forgot our drinks and brought dessert after I mentioned that he forgot the drinks and that we no longer needed them. He was rude and not up to the standards of the restaurant. He kept chatting around a different table for about 20 minutes, while ignoring all his other tables. The rest of the wait staff were pleasant. I mentioned this to the hostess Alex, she was very professional and polite."

  • "It was my first time at RPM, My guest was not very happy with her order, she ordered the Ravioli, she only received 1 Ravioli, very disappointed, the taste was excellent. It would be nice if you would have 3 for serving."

  • "We took our son to RPM for his birthday on his recommendation. We went on Sunday at 4. The restaurant had a decent amount of people there at that time. I was struck at how pretty it is here. It has a tranquil, sexy feel to it even after it started to fill up. We ordered from the small plate menu and I am glad that we did. The portions were a good size, the pasta dishes melted in your mouth and the seafood was fresh. Desserts were big enough to share, although we each got our own! Service was great too. And on top of all that, when the bill came it was about 1/2 of what I was expecting to pay. I highly recommend RPM and can't wait to return."

  • "From the moment we sat in the booth like table the service was impeccable! Not over bearing, just right. Everything we had was fabulous and the the food came out in a timely manner. She suggested the fresh pasta with morels just flown in from Northern California and it was superb. A very interesting menu. The wine the server suggested was just right."

  • "I've been anxious to try this newer hotspot. The energy was high and the ambiance sleek and chic. Food was great and service top notch. Be careful or to order too much food, so there's room for dessert."

  • "First visit to RPM. The service was pretty good; the server was friendly and knowledgeable. I had the Italian Salad, Lobster Ravioli and Garlic Bread. My husband had the Filet, Kale Salad and Asparagus. In my opinion the food was a bit bland. We ended up adding table salt and pepper to almost everything. It was an experience however I Probably will not return."
