We ordered 3 appetizers and 2 of the smaller pasta dishes and all were amazing, especially the truffle garlic bread and the meatballs! One of our appetizers did not come out at the same time as the other two and they noticed immediately and it was brought out very quickly. We did not even think a thing about it, and the next thing we know a manager is apologizing to us for the delay and said that our the appetizers and our drinks were on them! To start, my party of 3 ordered the meatballs and brussel sprout salad. The meatballs were delicious! Very tender and flavorful. The brussel sprout salad was quite a sizable portion and decent too. Things went downhill from there. For entrees, we ordered the spicy king crab squid ink spaghetti, the short rib pappardelle, the fish special for the night (halibut), and a side of grilled asparagus. I really enjoyed the squid ink pasta - just enough spice and very flavorful, and the veggies were good, too. Unfortunately, the short rib pasta and fish were underwhelming. The desserts were just OK. My husband and son had the 'mama depandi' my 11 year old son said that's the best pasta he's ever had. (My son is the biggest picky eater I know) he also ordered a pizza and loved it. The service was great. Great staff and gorgeous place. The only thing we didn't like was the small portion sizes, the pastas are to be ordered as a side dish because they are tiny. I had to order two delicious dishes (and I'm a small girl)
Overall our experience was great, we are definitely coming back again. Specially since this is the first restaurant my son loved.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMagnificent Mother's DayMy husband, 7-year old daughter and I visited RPM for the first time for lunch on Mother's Day, and it was fantastic. The food was delicious, the service was lovely (I gave our server a thank you hug, that's how lovely), and at the close of the meal, I was given a Mother's Day card with a $25 gift card to return, as well as coupons for other affiliated restaurants (i.e., Hub 51, The Paris Club, etc.) As someone of Italian descent, I have high standards for Italian food, especially items described as "family recipes." Everything here exceeded our expectations, and the special gnocchi on the brunch menu was most certainly as tasty as our family recipes. I can't wait to go back and try more things on the menu. We were stuck in a corner and were kind of forgotten about for a while. It is located in the heart of the River North area and is close to a lot of hotels in that area. The restaurant has a hip, cool ambiance that adds to the experience. The menu was diverse so there are plenty of dining options to choose from. Our server was attentive and provided suggestions for each course. He also assisted with choosing wine that would complement the dishes that we chose. The food itself is good but not great. We felt the pasta sauces weren't as flavorful as other Italian restaurants that we have visited. Main reason was because of watching the store develop on the Giuliana & Bill show. I hoped the food would be good and it did not dissapoint. We were seated very close to our reservation time. It was a Thursday night and the place was packed. The connection to G & Bill will get people there the first time but the food must be good for repeat business. Our server was Jessie S. and she was a sweetheart. She offered feedback on menu suggestions at our request. There were two of us and we started with the liver crosinti from the lite bites section of the menu. It was very good. We both ordered the Italian Salad and it was delicious. Then we ordered the eggplant parmesan and one of the daily specials, Morel agnolotti. We shared the two entrees and both of them were really good. Bread was not served but when we asked about it Jessie said that they generally don't do bread service but did bring us some after we asked about it.

We had reservations for 6pm and were promptly sat when we enterd. The energy of the restaurant is exciting and relaxed at the same time. We were very impressed with the service provided by Brittany. She was able to assist in all of our questions and made excellent suggestions for our specific likes. The cocktail selection was unique and the cocktails themselves tasty. The food, from appetizers to bread to entrees, was in a word - amazing and full of flavor.
