  • "We went to Roy's to celebrate my husband's birthday. They greeted him with happy birthday wishes, which was so nice. Great service."

  • "The food is always great here! And I really like the service at the Roy's in Woodland Hills, they have the friendliest staff!"

  • "Everyone from the hostess to the waitress, to the Maitre d, to the bus boys were attentive, polite, and did their jobs well. The restaurant was even nice enough to print up the first page in the menu wishing me a happy birthday. They also gave ma a complementary chocolate brownie with fresh fruit for dessert. We ate only appetizers and sushi rolls, but everything was delicious and presented lovely. Highly recommend this restaurant for those looking for a little twist on Asian and sushi cuisine."

  • "Always a special spot, warm friendly atmosphere, good service, very special food. A good place for special occasions. They offer different fish options which are hard to find other places."

  • "the server appeared rushed and this put me on edge -- takes a lot off eating a good meal in a leisurely manner."

  • "We had a wonderful time, celebrating two birthdays at Roy's. They printed a birthday message to my wife and our friend inside the menu. The food was great, the sushi was wonderfully fresh, and the service was fantastic."

  • "My first visit I tried the black cod, which was excellent. This time I had the mussels w/ coconut curry as an appetizer and the seared ahi as the main course. The mussels were done perfectly and the curry was very tasty. The seared ahi was wonderful, with a surprise soy-mustard sauce that included wasabi, and pickled ginger on top. The dish was a great way to introduce something close to nigiri sushi to those who might be slightly squeamish."

  • "Their service was amazing! From the beginning they wished my mother a happy birthday and they went above and beyond to help us out. From substituting coconut milk in the coffee to bringing a complimentary dessert for my mom's birthday to taking our photo and giving us a copy… the night was amazing. For the food: the scallops were by far the best. then the wagyu sushi. the wagyu roll was ok… i would rather do more Nigiri pieces though. Miso soup was good but I can pass on it next time. the Roy's trio had a great combo of fish, the COD being my personal favorite. The Canoe appetizer is a must for a group"

  • "Always busy for a reason, great service consistently and amazing food. My favorite is Lobster pot stickers to start, the out of this world Butter Fish and the Chocolate Soufflé. Love their combination appetizer platters and the pre fixe menus when they offer them - great value."

  • "I took my wife and two kids to the restaurant for her birthday. They personalized the menu with a happy birthday message for all of us, brought a chef special appetizer over, and ended the dinner with a small dessert. Roy's clearly understands customer service and how to make things special. I had the Ahi which was perfectly prepared with a light sauce. We all had a great experience and the food was awesome."

  • "I could have their miso butter fish everyday. I never get tired of eating it. We treated friends of ours to dinner for the holidays and had a blast. Great service, great wine and food, and no long waits in between drinks and foods being served. Can't wait to go back soon!"

  • "It is always a pleasure dinning at the Roy's in woodland hills. The service and attentiveness to their customers is fantastic. I will go to a restaurant with great service even if the food is just OK ,over a restaurant with phenomenal food and bad service. In the case of Roy's you get the best of both worlds."

  • "Very busy Xmas eve so noisier than we've experienced in the past. But the business did not deter the excellent service."
    Dined on 12/24/2013
  • "There were six of us for dinner and the noise level was so bad we couldn't talk with each other. The Mahi Mahi was on a slice of potato topped with some asparagus. The Mahi Mahi was dry as was the potato. There was a little bit of some kind of sauce on the bottom. The plate was not attractive nor good. Our aunt did say the scallops were tasty. One person ordered a salad saying she wanted to split it with her husband. A full salad came to her, she asked the server to bring an extra plate, it never came. It seemed like there were long pauses between service. I did say I would recommend this restaurant to a friend because everyone has a bad night and would like to try it again"

  • "The opening statement on the menu welcomes you as "Ohana" which is Hawaiian for 'family'. This place always makes you feel welcome like 'family' and we have never had a bad experience. The food is top notch and always delicious. The atmosphere is warm and the decor is modern. It is pricey, but for special occasions it is worth it."

  • "We ordered the filet and lobster tail combo and were surprised to see how skimpy the filet was and lobster tail was even worse. I would avoid this item."
    Dined on 12/14/2013
  • "Perhaps I just ordered the wrong dish this particular night, our dinner at the location in WH was disappointing. Mahi Mahi and short ribs were dry and over done, flavors nothing out of the ordinary. Appetizer short ribs on the table were fine -- go figure"

  • "We were in the mood for seafood and decided to go to Roy's. The lobster postickers and sushi were delicious. The calamari was not great just ok. The Black Cod was outstanding. Three out of five people at our table had it and loved it. I have had Black Cod at many restaurant and Roy's was perfect. The upside down pineapple cake is also delicious and is a nice change to the usual desert menu. We were surprise to find the restaurant so full on a Tuesday night, but after eating there I can understand why. It is a bit pricey with a couple of drinks and tip we were up at $70/per person."

  • "I'm not crazy for Hawaiian food and that kept me away from Roys all these years. But a recent group event turned me around. The food is consistently top notch. The service outstanding ad friendly. While I would not recommend the margarita, the wine list is impressive and you are sure to find something you'll rave about on this list."

  • "My husband wanted to go out for a nice dinner. My sister and brother in law eat here very often and so we decided to give it a shot. Service was great and the food was wonderful. We shared the Tempura and the seafood hot pot. There was ample for both of us. We were taken very good care of. Thanks for a great experience."

  • "This was our second time trying this restaurant and again the food was disappointing, below par. Quality was good but flavor and preparation was lacking. Green beans were tough because they were not cooked long enough. A simple thing to remedy. On the up side the pineapple martini was fabulous. Best part of our meal!"

  • "I have had many great meals at Roys but unfortunately my meal on Saturday was a disappointment. I ordered short ribs. It was very bland and a very fatty piece of meat. The other people in my group ordered the prix fix meal and were also disappointed in the short rib. I don't think I will be back for awhile."

  • "Everything was great...the server was so pleasant....we even had her choose a desert for us to share. Surf and Turf as awesome and so tasty....and the Fish Sampler was delicious."

  • "I brought my wife, whose roots are from Hawaii to this fine restaurant 3 times and will continue to come back many more times as we both agree that this is a great place. We have tried different things on the menu each time and everything has been fantastic and even more rewarding is the professionalism from the managerial staff, hostess, cocktail servers, food servers and including the bus staff. This restaurant truly understands the way customers should be taken care of and knows all about "customer service". We do not live close by and do not mind the lengthy drive on our congested freeways to get here. I would highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "We frequent Roy's monthly and on this visit noticed some new menu items, including a full sushi menu. Tried 4 of the new items and all were good. We weren't super fans of the chicken lollipops, but all else was excellent."

  • "Most would say okay and go to Islands! Not for this sophisticated kid! They have a kid's menu but he wanted mahi-mahi crusted with macadamia nuts. it was wonderful. At seven, roast pig was out! Lobster potstickers as an appetizer, misu soup and he didn't even want dessert! (I had chocolate souffle which is small but enough for a taste for two!)"

  • "I had viewed the menu online and was prepared to order the pork shank. When I arrived I found out that item was no longer on the menu, I was devestated, I had no idea what I was going to order. I decided on the braised short ribs & they were amazing!!!! Can't wait to have them again."
