Roy's TampaHubby's Birthday dinnerWe've been to a number of Roy's around the country including Hawaii. Been to the Tampa restaurant twice and would definitely go again. Even though I always say I'm going to get something different, I always get the short ribs and they are always fantastic. My husband had the surf and turf and wasn't disappointed. I had written on my open table reservation about my dietary restrictions. The waitress greeted us with a special menu and was sure to inform me of which items met my needs. She was careful to double check with the chef on the items I ordered. Everything we ate was cooked perfectly. Because I was unable to eat any of the desserts, she surprised us with a special blackberry sorbet which was so yummy!

After sharing lobster pot-stickers,my partner had the Hawaiian short-ribs...melted like butter. I couldn't decide between the marinated butter fish or scallops, so my server suggested a combination: the best idea. Also loved the celery/beet salad & bok choy. Ended with the chocolate lava cake/ice cream...after a second martini & gift of champagne. The chef is enormously talented. We had just returned from NYC & were feeling high-maintenance for Tampa...Roy's is fantastic & belongs in Manhattan's mid-town. The service was also outstanding...the manager was a generous & warm host. Our server even took our photo, presented it framed. Everything we had was fantastic. We told our waitress we were in a rush and she suggested great items that have fast ticket times. The best part was she timed it just right. She facilitated the speed we wanted with perfection. Not a moment when the table was empty or overloaded with plates. We also played a silly joke on one of our guests and the staff played along to perfection. We had a wonderful time the food was great. But what made it special for us was the extra touches that Roy's restaurant did for us. When we order dessert little did we know when we got our desserts on our plate was happy anniversary written in Chocolate. Nice touch.Then they took our pictures and framed them for us .We have celebrated many occasions at restaurants and this was the 1st time this has been done. Andrew the manager was extremely nice and friendly greeting our table and presenting us a free amuse. Anthony our server was very knowledgeable and kept the flow of dinner going very well considering we had apps, entree( highly recommend the skirt steak my girlfriend had it and it was amazing even better than my surf and turf), and dessert. The overall experience was a treat, I think about 5 different servers stopped by and filled drinks, cleared plates and made sure everything was going well. I would highly recommend Roy's Tampa, because of the great hard working, team oriented staff.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome experienceFrom the moment my husband and I walked in the door, we were thoroughly impressed by the staff and service at Roy's Tampa. The hostess was energetic and seemed generally appreciative for our patronage at the restaurant. Every single staff member that approached us throughout the night was very courteous and professional. Our server's name was Rachel and she was terrific. She was very friendly and prompt to take care of our needs. The food and drinks were terrific as well. While the drinks were on the pricey side ($10 for a small Jack-Diet Coke and $11.50 for a Mai-Tai), this was expected at the quality of restaurant at which we dined. The Shellfish Sampler was terrific, as well as the lobster potstickers! Definitely will come back to Roy's!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent for special occasions!!!We took my mom to celebrate her 35th wedding anniversary (Dad is military and is overseas). They inserted a special anniversary message in the menu as well as put little confetti hearts on the table. Additionally they gave us an appetizer and a desert (with happy anniversary written on the plate)!! These awesome touches really helped my mom feel so happy even though Dad couldn't be with us! Thank you to the manager, our awesome waitress and waiters! Table was always clean, cups full, food was delicious (filet mignon, sushi, seafood trio)!! This is definitely our favorite for special occasions! The food was great and the service was amazing. They have a pretty large wine list and I really enjoyed their signature cocktails. Try the hot chocolate souffle- it takes twenty minutes to make and it is well worth the wait! Although, I wish it was bigger- it's not really sharable. They decorated our table with birthday confetti and inside the menu they created a personal birthday wish with a list of famous people whom I share my birthday with. At the end of the meal they brought out a cake that said "Happy Birthday" on it with a candle to blow out , plus on top of that the waitress took a picture of us and put it in Roy's special created frame. The manager also stopped by and wished me a happy birthday witch I though was very nice. The food was great. The ribs and pot stickers are not to be missed. It was all so good that I barely had room for dessert.

Last night they gave us a free dessert and tonight two free desserts. Even without that nice surprise the service was amazing. The pacific rim sashimi was the best I have had. You feel the excitement as you enter. We received a warm welcome, and were seated in few minutes at our table. Soon, our server arrived with a smile, and took our cocktail order. She returned with our drinks, and reviewed the menu with us, pointing out some special items. We ordered the Winter Prix Fixe menu, which was delicious. I started with hot pot of mussels and clams, followed by rainbow trout. For dessert a warm mango cobbler with vanilla ice cream. All our food choices were served at correct temps, and beautifully plated.we enjoyed a very reasonable Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley with our entrees.
